- I may just be a blues player, but I find jazz guitars hard to resist, and they tend to inspire me to play a little outside the box. This week I take an Ibanez GB10SE for a ride. This is a an interesting and fun guitar, and I talk about it's build quality and features, and give my impressions. Also, of course I demo the sounds, both with and without a backing track.

Nice video Leonard, I would like to hear it with flatwound strings. Hope you will do that one day. I picked up a D'Addario Excel SS Tour yesterday for and amazing €307. This also plays and sounds wonderful! Bargain of the year 😀
That’s great. Always feels good to score a real bargain.
Thanks so much for voting for the followup.
Nice playing and guitar
Thanks so much. Thanks for watching.
The GB10 design is just an ABSOLUTELY WONDROUS DESIGN
THE WORLD IS FORTUNATE THAT GEORGE BENSON was also a Commercial Artist way before he became famous (a practical trade skill he learned during his high school days …. Etc … )
MAN …. The GB10 design … in the world of guitars … is just an ABSOLUTE JOY to play
Know one could even pay me to shut up about it …. (I dint get paid for this … I just like to share with humanity whatever I like for myself …. it’s just a GOLDEN RULE type thing )
Man … IBANEZ ….. YAMAHA …. TOYOTA ….. and whatever else … personally I just have found that JAPANESE craftsmanship just seem to be so CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT
Even and entry level Yamaha as well is an excellent item …
Getting back to IBANEZ GB10
I just LOVE that models design
AMEN 🙏🏽
I agree it’s a beautiful design. 👍🏼
Tone and phrasing are fantastic!
Thank you my friend.
Nice of you to do a feature on the GB10
BLESSINGS 🙏🏽
Thank you much.
Loved your video. Great playing on a nice guitar. Been thinking about this model. I have owned an Ibanez AM93 for about 10 years now (made in China). It was very well made. Great tones and easy to play. Subscribed so I can check out your other videos.
Thanks so much. Appreciated.
You play jazzy bluesy beautifully. You listen to some Kenny Burrell?
Nice to hear from you Joe.
You bet. Kenny Burrell is a favorite, and Grant Green is another one.
Thanks so much for the kind words.
Great video and playing!
Thank you my friend, and thanks for watching.
Enjoyed your review-thanks
Well I’m very glad you found it enjoyable. Thanks for watching.
Very nice sounding guitar. And as usual very nice playing and video.
Thanks so much, and thanks for watching the channel.
Great review...and LOVE the t shirt!
Thanks so much. Appreciated.
Sweet, I want one! Really does sound great!
They did a nice job with this one. Thanks for checking it out.
May I ask what amp etc you are using?
@@Shakedoctorsblues It’s my Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, blond spec with the Celestion Neo Creamback.
Thanks for the great review. I've had my eye on a GB for a long time and have one on the way. I usually try, if my funds allow, to buy the top of the line model for the sake of investment if nothing else. But going over the reviews and specs for GB10 and GB10se it seemed, as you pointed out, that they were almost identical except for their county of manufacture. Maybe this is just a little strange marketing blip for Ibanez and they'll eventually phase out the more expensive model, but it's just really odd that there should such a price-point difference. Thanks again for the review!
What it comes down to is it’s simply more expensive to build guitars in Japan. I imagine if you had both and compared them directly there’d be a difference, but I don’t know how much the difference would actually matter. I suspect not much if at all.
Best of luck and thanks so much for watching.
I enjoy your videos. Thanks for creating them. I would like to see this guitar with the flatwounds.
Thanks so much. I’m certainly considering the followup.
Ohh La La, very Jazzy. You sly dog. Great sounding box!! Beautiful notes!
Ready for your next post!
Yeah. If only I could actually play jazz. LOL
I love the look and concept of these guitars. Like you I have longed for a GB 10 because of Bensons style and sound. I also crave the smaller body and LP styling of the GB. If I could find one in a shop to play I would probably own it. Thanks for your thoughts.
And thank you for watching. It is a cool guitar and the quality is very nice. I hope you get a chance to try one.
I don't play blues, I'm more of a smooth soul player but you sound good playing bluesy stuff on it. I own a GB40th Japanese crafted version and it's the best 6 string guitar that I own.
Nice. I’m sure that’s a very fine guitar. Thanks for watching.
NICE 👍🏽 Bluesy Playing
Thanks so much.
George benson does do mostly jazz but check out Charlie Christian
Oh yeah, Charlie Christian influenced just about all the traditional jazz players and a lot of blues players as well. My Dad was a pro guitarist as well and growing up, it took me a long time to realize how many Charlie Christian lines he played!
Thanks for watching.
Really good sound..I had a GB10 many years ago..As I'm a Hammond player first & foremost, I sold the GB..You have a nice natural compression to the sound Which amp is it? or are you direct recording. Hope you OK with me asking. Regards Ray
Don’t mind at all. Most of my videos feature my Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. I normally record from the excellent line out, which features a couple different IRs. One recorded with a Ribbon mic and one with a dynamic. I initially started to mic it up, but honestly, the sound from the built in IRs reproduces what I’m hearing in the room better than I can get with conventional mics. It’s virtually indistinguishable. Thanks so much and thanks for watching.
one major difference is body width. the Indonesianversion is 0.5" narrower.
Is it? I don’t know how much actual difference that would make but thanks for pointing it out.
MAN ….. I’M SO THANKFUL PHIL UPCHURCH (George Benson’s early rhythm guitarist ) turned GEORGE BENSON on to IBANEZ guitar company
If was so fitting .
I still cold not understand by GIBSON never had a GEORGE BENSON Signsture model guitar … after he came out with BREEZIN’
Before we knew about Ibanez … every George Benson fan wanted to get a Gibson Hollow body Jazz guitar
It’s was so fortunate for both IBANEZ & GEORGE BENSON …… ( and even the whole entire world , in my esteem 🙏🏽) that GEORGE BENSON became the very first signature artist IBANEZ had
GOERGE BENSON has just been THE GREATEST at what he was able &/or allowed to accomplish
The GREATEST… like MUHAMMAD ALI …. (In my esteem )
Yeah, it’s a great story. Thanks for watching.
Merci pour votre réponse mais je voulais vous demander laquelle préfèrez vous joué gb10 se ou prestige merci de votre réponse amicalement jp qui vous admire !
I’ve not played the Prestige version yet, but I’m sure it’s on another level. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to play one at some point. Thanks so much.
How would you compare this to the Eastman AR372CE overall? Same ballpark even? Thanks!
The Eastman is more versatile by far and I suspect overall better materials; frets, hardware, etc. The Ibanez does do that quick attack, fast jazz line thing very well.
@@leonardgriffieblues5845 Thanks for your response and for your great work here!
When the Blues music started, all they had were hollow bodied guitars.
True enough. Thanks for watching.
what kit are you using
It’s straight into a blond spec Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. Thanks for watching.
I'm selling my GB 10 Ibanez guitar just like that one. Next one higher like the actual Guitar George played Nice guitar. I'm putting it on E Bay. Well over 4200dllrs . I'm selling it
Yeah, if it doesn’t work for you, find what does! Thanks so much for watching.
Vous jouez tres bien ! Pourquoi ne jouez pas sur une gb10 prestige japon ça na rien a voir!!!!! Amicalement
@@jeanpierrepauchard Yes, the Japan made original is a great guitar. I reviewed the affordable version because it’s within the reach of more players. Thanks for watching.
A nice guitar for the first year or two you own it, but thats about it. Mine has developed a reverse bow creating major fret buzz from the 7th to the 17th fret. The neck adjustment is adjusted as loose as it will go. The bridge is set as high as possible while remaining playable...this thing is absolute crap!!!. I own plenty of electric guitars that have never had this happen!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ONE OF THESE, buy an Epic, an Eastman, or anyother brand in this price category.
Unfortunately that can happen to any guitar with a traditional single action rod. It doesn’t mean this model is crap. It’s not uncommon with Gibsons, Eastmans and any guitar that uses a single action rod. In fact, 3 piece necks as used on the GB10SE are usually very stable but there are always exceptions and sorry you got one. Have you taken the guitar to a good luthier? These problems can be solved by someone really skilled in repair. Depending on severity, it might be fixable with a basic fret level. Though it may need something more extensive. But it’s almost always fixable. Thanks for watching.
@@leonardgriffieblues5845..greetings from great Britain. That's bad luck...ive had mine 5 years...the action is still as perfect as when it arrived mail ordered...in fact I rarely even have to tune it even when it's left in its case for a week...maybe it's out mild British climate...I.e...mainly dull a drizzling rain with 4 weeks of sunshine...and hardly any severe snow?
BTW mine was made in China
