It would have been nice if you had shown how you do the binding with the back piece attached. The shoulder seams add bulk and are always trickey for me. Thanks for the video.
Hey!! Great tutorial. Just a suggestion for pressing. Instead of using the ruler, get a wooden tailor's clapper. It's basically a piece of sanded wood. YOUR PRESS GAME WILL BE UNREAL!!!!!!!! It's about $15 on Amazon
Does the straight stitch line used to attach the binding not hinder the stretch? Just wondering as I’m not super experienced with sewing knits, but I always see/read to not use a regular straight stitch. 🤷🏻♀️
I have never had an issue with it personally! I do use a longer setting straight stitch when sewing binding but I have sewn dozens and dozens of neck bands and cuffs with this method and it always works out
@@nicoleseafolk7305 @lhingram: I'm 65 and can't believe this is now acceptable! I did just order some stretch thread which I'm excited to try. I have always been disappointed in the narrow zigzag stitch for knits on my sewing machine; sure would have like to used regular straight stitch earlier!
With my experience with binding, the first initial straight stitch is pretty much a "basting stitch" but at normal stitch length (maybe even a tad longer), if that makes sense. When you go over it with coverstitch or even a twin needle, it seems like those stitches trumps the first stitch. Being able to stretch is not a problem. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing. I’ve avoided making items with this binding and I even have a cover stitch!! 🙌🏻

Omg thank you! Best binding video I’ve seen
A double fold bias binder attachment for your coverstitch would save you a lot of time! 😉
Thanks so much for this video! It was just what I needed.
Stunning fabric, thanks for the tip, you should get a clapper to use instead of a ruler x
Love the fabric x
Is the binding the same length as the neckline? The binding appears longer in the video.
Hi! What would you suggest doing for the pieces that come out for straps, that aren’t attached to the garment ?
Can i ask which cover stitch machine you used?
Good tips. Camera could be closer when stitching everything else was great.
Is it possible to reupload this video in higher resolution? It’s a shame that you can only go up to 360p.
Do you have to cut the binding on the bias when it’s a 4-way stretch??
Would you do this on a baby receiving blanket?
thank you
did you use a serger in the end to place binding?? how did you do to get that look? help me
I used a cover stitch machine, a twin needle on a regular machine gives a very similar finish however
@@nicoleseafolk7305 Iam a beginner. I never saw that machine
Thank you for your answer
