Eric Bee ...that little Marshall Mini Stack is a Lead 12. You can still get them new for around $300. I found an 80's model in a yard sale $25. Cleaned it up and it looks like new and sounds great! \m/

4:20 Yes! I'm definitely hearing the high frequency distortion in this. I thought it was not but now I'm back to my orig comment. No idea what I was listening to in the middle but at 4:20 it's in there but maybe it's the video camera distorting or the vid editor. Prob not the amp now that I think because speaker cabs for guitar usually cannot reproduce frequencies that high. I think it's the vid camera being overdriven.
I like to put a ibanez ts808 in front of the lead channel to get a specific metal tone that I particularly like. I'm dying to get one of these, once someone buys my hot rod deluxe...
Man i'm so freaking hyped looking forward to being immersed in Music and high comedy again. I'm struggling to keep up with everything you've been upto Man you're a machine!
Hey man! Really nice video! Do you recommed this amp for classic rock, hard rock like Blackmore, Page, Cream (clatpn) and Clapton OD tones? Thank you n again, nice video!
Paul Glover good to read that, because i am about to buy this amp and i was asking myself if it takes pedals well...because his smaller brother (the TM5) is famous for not taking pedals very well...did you actually try pedals through it Paul? cheers
You can blend the mics.. put some mics on the cab (sm57 is an obvious choice - everybody has it), and blend in a condenser room mic, or the camera mic.. but this camera mic just aint working.. Its clipping on every other transient
RGA121-A in the background? I have the violin finished one... I can't tell ya how much I dig that model. Too bad they kinda moved away from the way they USED to make em...
this amp will cover all angles you mentioned. i use vetta 2 by line 6 and it covers all the basses i need but for your budget (if you have a cab) any good 30 watts valve head will do great (engl, orange),if you have a speaker id go tubemeister 18 or 36 if not see if you can get a TM18 with a 2x12 marshall or equivalent cab? so many options dude but id go for that for a fat powerful tone.
I just played this at GC, I have to say its a MONSTER. I also tried the tubmeister 36, which takes the LEAD BOOST function and puts it in its own channel. It was fu***n monster for metal. Plus the UNBELEIVABLE amount of features in it is easily double the price and worth it.
Alright thanks for the quick reply :) Reason for my asking is that I've watched over 10 reviews, not one of which had the head by itself, always played through the hk cabinet or sometimes a Marshall one
Hey dude, great review. One quick question - given its EL84 power section, how chimey (a la AC15/AC30) does the clean channel get when you push the gain up?
Hey Liverpoolian, what size cabinet are you using with the Tube Meister 18 and could you use it in a club setting with no problems, is it loud enough? I love its sound. Or, would you want to use the Tube Meister 36. I really like the sounds from the 18.
I have a Mini Rectifier already which I love, but I love this amp too, played one a few weeks ago. Nice Phil X reference :) Nice demo, been waiting for a good demo like this!
Amazing vid man ;-) Is this the best head for the money that it costs or something else is better, its expensive to me 36w , so I'm a bit hesitant and affraid because I am in love with this little monster :-))) Thanks
paul, does it get the sparkly cleans like the fenders do in adition to that gain tone, or should I just go for a DSL-15 and not worry about the cleans?
Hi! Nice video;) I have a question! For you, Is the transistor (with digital effects) better than a tube amp? I explain... We play progressive rock/grunge/punk rock, we need a powerful sound, we need impact. Have you any suggestions for me? Hope you understand, greetings from Italy!
Audio's ok in Final Cut, but I think RUclips is compressing it during upload causing the clipping. Either way, we're going to be stepping up to a decent external mic in the near future!

Amazing review, I've had the TM18 for a few months now and just coincidentally I play it through a 1936 2x12 marshall, how spooky is that. BUT obviously I can't get no where near the tone that you got through the amp alone. I'm wondering if it's the guitar that is letting me down (les paul BFG) please comment. I'll say it again awesome demo, a pleasure to watch.
Excellent review Paul! Well explained and awesome tone (AND PLAYING). I'm really confused by amp wattage etc, I've always thought you would need a minimum of 50 Watts to start gigging but can H&K 18 handle club gigs (without using the DI)? (I am a noob when it comes to watts and amp ratings etc) Thanks!
I don't know if its something with mine in particular but I have the Tubemeister and I cannot for my life get a high gain tone like at 14:00. I turn the gain all the way up and it just sounds like cranking a vintage amp with no preamp. Could it be the speaker I use? Its an Egnater Rebel 1x12 it has a custom celestian speaker.
Jaagg speaker shouldn't make that much difference dude. Try another guitar lead you might just have a weak signal going in? you should be able to get this pretty hot sounding. try the 1 watt soak and dime it? see what that does.
My guitar leads shouldn't be a problem as I use pretty much all Mogami cables. I ran straight into the amp and dimed it on 1w just now and frankly it just sounded like a shitty low-gain super compressed fuzz. There was super flabby attack to go along with it as well. I also noticed that the preamp valves don't glow like the power amp valves do. Could that be a sign of a problem with the wiring through the preamp?
You mean the Peavey VYPYR-120 tube? Because I have tried the "transistor model" and for me is one of the worst amp ever, the sound is flat and confused, and the digital effects are really cheapest! Anyway thank you for the advice!

I think with a good 2x12 the 18 could do it all, if i where playing clubs that look at the backline as the power and only run bass drum, vocals, keys etc to front of house then the 36 will fair a bit better if you use a lot of cleans that need to stay Crystal clean. The 18 might have to be pushed a little in that environment
Hello friend, I have doubts about buying this head, my question for you is, how many volume master have you to put if you want to have a clean channel for jazz? I have seen that for this you have to pu the master about 9 o´clock and the gain about 1 o´clock, You think that this amp has enough range of clean tones at the same time you have a long way to up the volume of the head? Thanks!!
Hey... I have this head... And it gets REALLY HOT when using it... I put it on the top of my cabinet... And the cabinet gets really hot too. Is it a problem? Can I damage the speaker or the cabinet wood...? Does it happens to you too...?

I like your video because the amp sounds great. But, I tried it with the 1X12 cab & I find it not powerful enough for me to buy it. For the clean channel, I had to turn the master volume and the gain all the way up to get some volume. I own this amp and it takes any delay peddles great because of the effects loop BUT any distortion pedal suck so bad has a volume depletion for some reason and make the the pedal sound like shit no matter what you do and what pedal you use But but but the on board distortion is 9 out of ten

yes it can. just needs a 10 band eq to give it a little more boost( recommend to anyone buying this amp). I use mine like a 3 channel even tho its 2 channels (similar to my 5150II) use Clean for a slightly gaining clean (Voxy tone) Lead Channel as my crunch and the Boost as heavy tone.
argh.. turn the puter volume down so not to bug my neighbours then you stop playing and start talking, turn the volume up and then you start playing. Balance your sound please, it'll be so much easier
As this was one of our first vids shit was a little all over the place but we did get better at balancing this stuff. Check out some later vids man, the sound should be sweet as a nut. 🧟♂️

W/the Tubes in it Wow it the Bang for your Buck or pound whatever it may be.
your clipping and ruining the sound we can hear when u go to distortion. turn the amp down or adjust your mic pre, its a shame to have such awesome gear and reviews but lacking on the final product due to a tiny oversight, also per gunnar might be lacking in knowledge as well, the sound used in the youtube videos is far from the quality audio you would need to distinguish between solid state and tube especially if your listening with junk speakers or headphones. unfortunately anyone on the internet is allowed to post things
that little marshall stack is adorable

yes it can. just needs a 10 band eq to give it a little more boost( recommend to anyone buying this amp).
press all the buttons you want, the camera mic can't handle it, or well
Warm camcorder overdrive \m/
DO IT!!!!!!!
Goddamn right! Wicked ass song man :)
Look @ the Peavy Vypyr Tube Version Watt is up to you but for the Money You can't beat it w/Line 6 or any other modeling amp w/FX The PY Vypyr has the Motorola SHARC Chip 52 Bit, & w/the food petal you get the Looper Whammy, Wha, all the Stompboxs & the rackmount FX Tuner, I got the 15 Vypyr for $89.00 & it sounds GOOD!!!!! W/the Tubes in it Wow it the Bang for your Buck or pound whatever it may be.
Liked by Rob Chapman!
"we like it as much as we like cookies" hahahahahaha
Thanks man, that means a lot. We hate those 'guy with a guitar against a photoshop background' reviews man, they suck balls!
haha Glad i could be of service
Haha, sorry dude. Im not Rob. Just a fan of his that saw the he liked your video. Should have refrased that.
over all the amp sounds nice..but its not overdriven much
I could have that in my living room and get rid of the fish tank
Good vi ....I pity your neighbours tho
Was looking forward to the demo but the swearing made me leave before the first sound was heard out of it.
these aren't the droids your looking for......... move along, move along.
your clipping and ruining the sound we can hear when u go to distortion. turn the amp down or adjust your mic pre, its a shame to have such awesome gear and reviews but lacking on the final product due to a tiny oversight, also per gunnar might be lacking in knowledge as well, the sound used in the youtube videos is far from the quality audio you would need to distinguish between solid state and tube especially if your listening with junk speakers or headphones. unfortunately anyone on the internet is allowed to post things
Not sure what the problem is but it sounds terrible.
