You prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
I just brought a grandmeister 36 and I couldn't be happier it's my first valve amp and was blown away by how amazing it sounded got it with a harley benton 2x12 and a fender marine reverb for a steal. A massive improvement over my line 6 spider 4. The blue light was also a selling point looks great in a dark room really sets the mood.
Man the ball sucking is unreal. Is this the same guy that post how great the captain has got for the past 5 years on every video, or do you all try to be the first to say it...🙄
For the Delux 20: you CAN actually switch the red boost on and off with any double FS (I use a Peavey FS). I think H&K has a dedicated FS for this. Second, I'd say that the "Boost" is more like a channel on his own right, with not only higher gain and level, but a different, more modern-like tone-shape. Also cranking up the gain on the clean channel is FIRE! Note: I know it's from 2017, and I be living in the future of 2021, so things may have changed a bit :)
Chappers and the captain should do updated crib tours. It was good to see caps new PRS! It would also be good to have a video covering the chapman guitar range. Keep up the good work Andertons!
Just bought one of the Red Andertons shirts. Just want to say ( hopefully Lee sees this) this shirt is one of the coolest shirts and one of the highest quality I have ever gotten!
Cheers Zak - I honestly HATE the shitty T Shirts most brands use for promo gear. I tried loads of different T shirts before I settled on these. They cost me about 3 times as much as "other" brands, but they feel so nice!!
I have the Tubemeister 5 combo and it is superb. I’ve owned Orange, Fender & Marshall valve amps that have been great, but these are so well engineered, very quiet barely any hum, and sparkling warm tone clean & overdrive. It’s a tone & amp that inspires you to play.
Lee's PRS is really a tone chameleon. One second Rob is playing some pretty amazing metal on it (like in last video it was featured), the next minute it's playing some tasty blues or rock. Pretty amazing! I also love how these videos are now with Pete and Rabea in the background, reminds me of the days where Paul ('Stick') was in the background laughing at every innuendo etc. I was starting to miss that a few years ago, glad it's back!
Finally a Hughes & Kettner amp! i love those things, only played them in stores but i'm a huge fan of their sound and looks, very different of everything else
wtf, why every sinlge demo of amp is blues or rock-n-roll demo? it is not modern metal, dudes, just not near it at all. Where is modern sound? Cool sound? Or you guys play only what you studied at music school? If it true - just stop do demos for metal devices. Blues and rock-n-rock is not fkin metal!
The clean channel sounds amazing! I knew these amps are good on overdrive and distortion, did not know they sounded that good on clean. Really impressed! And good value as well
Can I just say, they feel a lot hotter being metal rather than covered wood; Just with metal feeling hotter at the same temperature as wood. But yeah, they get hot. And sound even hotter :)
jazzcam998 that's because metals usually conducts heat better than wood, and also have a lower specific heat. I don't want to get into to much physics, but usually this is optimum for cooling.
if you have the 40W version and run it at 1W cranked, that is 39W of power being converted into heat... of course it would get hot! :D This kind of attenuation is different from what Mesa/Marshall does which is shutting off power tubes to lower output, in which case the amp would get cooler but you won't get rid of that much volume.
Linh Nguyen 39w isn't that much in the big scheme of things. A lot of computer chips that are passively cooled have max heat outputs of about 45w, for comparison. Still, If I were an engineer at H&K, I would still probably not to put some sort of a heat sink or at least some ridges to increase surface area and improve heat dissipation.
I've been watchin your videos for a couple of years now, I'm a guitar and bass player, always interested in new equipment, but nowadays I found myself in a position, that I watch your videos just because I like you. I like your jokes, I like your attitude, I love the way Lee's always reasoning things, that you cover. You are not only giving facts, and opinions, not only are you inspirational, but you are also a good-old-fashioned quality-entertainment! I really really like you guys. You are my favourite tv show:) For real. Take care, and keep up the good work! Cheers.
If you're a gigging musician and have frequently found yourself in varying situations where in one instance going direct to the board and using in-ears in a large club is best, and yet elsewhere cranking a cab in a restaurant is necessary, this is the amp for you. Rob and Lee made so much out of the blue lights (which are awesome) they almost made a point to avoid praising just how ridiculously versatile these things are. Particularly the Grandmeister. Beautiful cleans, bluesy crunch, Van Halen-esque leads and Dual Rectifier-ish high gain. 4 modulation effects and delay and reverb. It just about does it all. Maybe not perfectly, but extremely well.
Is it just me or has the Captain remarkably improved at playing guitar over the last few years? He was never bad, but lately he's just been amazing. The solo in the beginning was just face melting stuff.
You know Capt'n, it's been fun watching you become a guitar slinger. I'm thinking one of these days, we'll see YOU at Chapper's guitar shop as the special guest and he'll be buying YOUR lunch! Congrats to You. You've come a very long way. Good job.
Chappers and Lee, please tell me you guys are going to see David Gilmour Live at Pompeii on September 13th?! As someone who was there myself I beg you guys it's gonna be a must watch!!!!!!!!!!!
these amps have been this way a long time. I Have the early year duo tone head and its possibly the best amp I've ever owned.. The blue is nostalgic in its own right. As they were the 1st to do it. The old H&Ks around 2000 were the best in my opinion. Keep Rocking guys
Michael Angelo H. In that context of the Metallica title (when looking at the album cover and the lyrics) it should be 'Marionetten' instead of 'Puppen'.
Ya know guys... no worries. religiously have watched just about every review , I bought a Chapman, I've bought effects , I'm a big fan. 99% of the time I never receive a comment back to questions , feedback, or anything , nor do a lot of other fans and fellow followers and youtubers... you have traditionally and typically done stellar reviews ..but guys.... at about 12:15 after staring and listening , I honestly forgot what and why I was watching . you have never not delved into the nitty gritties of everything , but I hope you both didn't high five each other after the video production and say ." yeah it's a wrap". I'm in the market for a new tube / valve head, and H & K is in my crosshairs for a variety of reasons . Bea was playing in stereo mode on two Hughes and Kettner's, and a guitarist I saw recently in a band in NYC lit the place on fire with the sound out of a Deluxe 40 and a Marshall cab. Always love your humor and reviews but maybe it was an off day ? I'm not trolling here guys. I followed you around NAMM virtually , at every stop you made on youtube. I love blueberry pancakes , Captain America , Star Trek and all that stuf, but maybe a do over? You've done better reviews for practice amps and I went out and bought a Boss Katana 50 as a result. I have go on down to my least favorite store ...Guitar Center and demo one myself while the associates there couldn't tell the difference between a MIM vs American strat . Oh wait ..there's Bea's review on the tubemeister 40 that just popped up on the "up next". ..yeah ....power soak, red box tech, dedicated clean , crunch and lead channels with eq's...and a full explanation of the footpedal and "learn " button, and he was cooking in his room because the temps were so high. I know this is a now older video, but do us a solid and re do... and I'll buy it from Anderson's if you pick up the international shipping ! I'm across the pond in NY.
I will say after having one for a few months that it is the most versatile amp I own and by far my favorite. The solid state part he was talking about it a boost channel, and honesty I didn't know it was solid state til I saw this video. It is versatile and my favorite thing is how it still has a good clean and if you have some Gibson humbuckers it can push a slight crunch
I have a H&K Tubemeister 18 and it's a great inexpensive lunchbox type amp. Yes it get's hot, but it has a power soak built in, so it's normal. The only minus I can point, it that it doesn't take pedals that well when the volume is pushed, at practicing levels it's no issue what so ever.
I have the exact head/cab Lee is playing through, and it's fantastic. The EQ on the thing makes is very versatile. You can get sparkling cleans and face-melting leads. They're right about the heat issue though. Even the little 20 gets blazing hot pretty quickly.
Th blue light kind of reminds me of my old (long gone) 60's vintage Ampeg Portaflex that had a metal cage with visible tubes and "AMPEG" etched in glass that glowed when powered on. Very cool. This is H&K is much more "lit up but brings back memories.
Didn't think they look goudy till now! Moving from the bad ass camp to the looks like a dogy back street casino. Glad ye covered this amp have been interested in one for quite a while.
Thomas Blug. Pronounced like blue with a “G” on the end. Hence his company Blu-guitar”. The Amp 1 is amazing. I gig a mercury edition with MAJIK BAND and it even beats out really high end amps we have in studio when I am tracking. Great piece of kit.
Once again, the timing is impeccable for a review that really gives me insight into prospective purchases. In this case, I am looking at either the H&K Tubemeister 20 or the Peavey 6505 MH for a new amp head. Either way, I am looking at the Tubemeister 2x12 cabinet regardless of either amp. The Tubemeister sounds great, and with the guitars used in this review are close to what I play. Thanks again for providing a serendipitous review.
Triamp mk1 released in 1995, 29(23 at the time of this video) years ago.. would call that a modern classic and the blue LED is part of that CLASSIC look.
4:22 Lee, proper valve amplifiers do not use solid-state components to create additional preamp distortion: they use cascaded preamp valves (I am well aware that some Marshall and ENGL fans will disagree, as well as Blackstar fans).
Recently got the Hughes&Kettner Grandmeister Deluxe 40 which I play with my Gibson Les Paul Studio, Epiphone Les Paul Custom MKH 7 string and a Fame 412 cab with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers - exactly the sound I was looking for.
I have the Tubemeister 18 and I love it! lightweight and small and full of features while sounding killer. Not to mention they look gorgeous!! hehehe If you´re looking for a traditional sound and looks then this is not for you ( you can always use pedals) but otherwise it´s just the "meister"
lebroucke Hey man, I'm looking towards a valve head and the 18 might be te one!! just have some questions: Does it takes pedals great?? i'll use od to get higher distortion metal sound and od or my proco rat in clean amp. Are chanels/boost footswitcheable?? I own a boss double switcher and it might be useful. Thanks!!
@@kadathfir I own Tubemeister18 it's definitely not a typical sounding amp. It does take the modulation pedals great and the clean channel sounds wonderful standalone. It also sounds very organic and natural with some light overdrive like Soul Food. However, the clean channel sucks with hi gain pedals. It really does. As I said, it sings with Soul Food etc. but with some fuzz or RAT it sucks balls. The sound becomes sterile and thin. You can read about this issue if you google it. The lead channel solves this problem however. It adds some meat and a little bit of 'reverb' to the sound. So, if you want to go hi gain with Tubemeister, switch to lead channel because the clean one isn't really meant for this. The lead channel is more modern sounding and if you are fine with that sound you can't go wrong with this. The boost channel isn't the best to me since it can't be adjusted on it's own but I guess it isn't really a problem since you already have 2 great sounding channels to get a particular sound. The Amp has power reduction which is a really cool feature, if you want to play in your bedroom 1W will do the job. FX loop is another useful option. So basically it's a really great amp for the price. It shines blue and sounds amazing. It has a pretty big range of tones you can get, they are just not for everyone. And the clean channel clearly isn't for everything. Don't use it with hi gain pedals and everything should be alright. I love mine
Watching you guys play just makes me wanna pick up and play more... recently bought a tubemeister 18 combo, great amp for the dirty playing 🤘😝 keep it up guys, you’re awesome! 👍
I knew that Yankees are very resistant to accept anything that was designed and build in Europe but, these to British gents... Give me a brake dudes Lol... You just helped me to make my mind. Despite the fact that newtube just showed up on the market, I will buy that smaller amp just because Lol... ("Just because..." was the end of questioning "Why ?" ...usually loudly announced by my, back than, 2 y.o. nice... Lol...) Sorry my southern neighbours. Feel free to keep your *Fenders* and such for yourself... I'm going European, meaning: *Hughes & Kettner* 18W Head Tubemeister + 12" Celestion V-type speakers x 2. Having said that, I will never refuse to buy something that was designed and Made in Canada (Godin guitars, Traynor amps, any Yorkville products etc...) Sorry my southern neighbours but you've got what *your dear leader, Dumb Stump Donald Trump* asked for Lol... So, there you have it...
Meister stands for master, as some mentioned before, like master craftsmen, in sports Meister actually stands for champion. I actually live around 30km or less away from H&K, same Bundesland. But I'm from MZG and they are WND (on the car plates), MZG and WND are inherited enemies.
neon underglow doesn't make the car go any faster... so if these amps were not quality, nobody would care about the lights. but H&K happens to sound amazing, with outstanding tone and features, for great versatility across multiple styles of play and performance... if your car is already blowing doors, go crazy with the neon. let the haters hate in your rearview mirror.
What were your EQ settings for these demos? I have a Tubemeister 18, which I love..... apart from the fact that I have to dial out ALL of the treble, because otherwise it's too scratchy, piercing and bitey.
Hi guys i bough the deluxe 20 and I’m trying to play with it with my pod go pedal but the sound that I get has body I’m using regular cables. I want to know if I need a special type of cable to use so I can have a better sound, I also play a fender Stratocaster and a Marshall speaker thanks for reading
There's a good video of Joe Bonamassa and Michael Caswell (RIP) where Michael is playing a combo version with his Tyler Strat and the dialed back, lightly overdriven sound is spectacular.
It's been interesting to follow how the Captain has evolved as a guitar player during last years. Sometimes I feel that they could make some small club gigs with Rob and play some Blues.😀
"I'm looking for a tube amp"
"Cool, what's your favourite film?"
"Fast and the Furious"

@Memphis Blaze Instablaster :)
The Neon blue glow has always intrigued me - that's the big kid in me

In Canada you can find used Tubemeister 18s for $300 or less, I have one and it's amazing.
I'm really impressed with lee's playing he's really progressed even from this time last year! Keep shredding captain!!
I know, right? Now i gotta steal some of that tasty licks. Keep shredding!
Was about to post this but you said it well enough!
Man the ball sucking is unreal. Is this the same guy that post how great the captain has got for the past 5 years on every video, or do you all try to be the first to say it...🙄
he's the captian of the "lee" guitar.

Yes the boost! Seeing as it does nothing to the clean I'm convinced it's a wink and knod 3rd channel
Chappers and the captain should do updated crib tours. It was good to see caps new PRS! It would also be good to have a video covering the chapman guitar range. Keep up the good work Andertons!
Yea, Rob moved a few months ago, and he hasn't really shown the house/apartment in detail. I'm curious.
Probably has been way too busy getting it organized with the thousand guitars, having a baby, putting a baby-room together, etc.
Tubemeister built by Burgermeister Meisterburger.
Well that’s nonesense at its best
Just bought one of the Red Andertons shirts. Just want to say ( hopefully Lee sees this) this shirt is one of the coolest shirts and one of the highest quality I have ever gotten!

Lee's guitar playing is noticeably improving over the past several years. Always tasteful, but more flavors now.
My set up! PRS P22 + Grandmeister 36!!! MIDI controlled channel and settings changes plus all the sounds of the P22! INFINITE SOUNDS!! SO MUCH FUN!
14:30 that lead channel on the 40w + mjolnr pedal + strat = holy shit balls ... best strat tone i've heard in a long while, so thick and full ... omfg

I love it how in every single video The Captain has that "Face of approval" when Chappers does some ultimate shredding solo. :D
Video is 25:18 in length, and uploaded 60 seconds ago ... and some wanker has already given a downvote. Good grief.
Its the same guy that does it within 5 seconds of every video going live!! We've got kind of fond of him now ;)
He adds solidarity in an unsure world
I wonder where Hank Hill is..
It's probably Scott Grove lol. It seems so long ago when Scott and Chappers were having a ding dong.
A surprising number of people have a weird compulsion to be the "first dislike". I've seen them discussing it in comments sections.
Picked up a tubemeister 36 and love it! Super versatile amp, and with the right pedal setup could pull off pretty much anything.
Captain there was no warning before the video started and now my face is melted. Lawsuit incoming
I think you can buy a cream for it - you'll be fine!
Fabien Dolan Ouch! Burned again! Try touching the amp and make it a hat trick.
Haaaaawwwww buuuuubbaaa 🤤😲🤠

I just got a Tubemeister on layaway, got me a pocket full of change.Seriously, I can't wait to pay it off so I can start jamming with it.
Cheers for the cool review guys. We might have to look out one of those Mjolnirs, sounded killer!
That beachball bouncing around always makes my day
Always come for the review but end up enjoying the jam ;) LOVE THESE DUDES!
"Thor doesn't have a beard"
Next observation from the Captain:
"Rob's hair isn't receding..."
Triamp mk1 released in 1995, 29(23 at the time of this video) years ago.. would call that a modern classic and the blue LED is part of that CLASSIC look.
Oi, that solo in the beginning is probably he best solo I have heard from The Captain
Has Capt Lee had lessons? Haha, sounds awesome!
Reece Durnan
I'm guessing from
Pete. Since he's been there he's gotten really good.
I thumbs upped just for the intro jam! And the tone!
There it is at 12.00! Rob's Turkish delight!
4:22 Lee, proper valve amplifiers do not use solid-state components to create additional preamp distortion: they use cascaded preamp valves (I am well aware that some Marshall and ENGL fans will disagree, as well as Blackstar fans).
Holy crap Lee, your playing in the intro jam blew me away!
I LOVE my TM20. Awesome sounds and very versatile. Andit looks wicked.
I think they sound fabulous.
"I'm using an EP boost with the boost all the way off." I do the same with my psychosomatic drive - it's great.
I just saw an option to get a mint-condition 18 watt combo version of one of these but couldn't find any specs or reviews. 🤔
Total bargain head! If you can give me it, I can legitimately say "it's the best head I've been given".
Earl Mobileh I aim to please ;)
I guess my subtle double-entundre's were lost on Richard lol
Yes, lost in the tundra.
Richard Harrold thats why you change the Chinese tubes to great tone tubes
I wouldn't say muddy. Blackstar amps are muddy. For the price range I would say it's incredible
I do love a good "Just Got Paid" jam session in the morning... start the day off right
Damn, Lee. The chops are getting real, mate!
I have the Tubemeister 18 and I love it! lightweight and small and full of features while sounding killer. Not to mention they look gorgeous!! hehehe
If you´re looking for a traditional sound and looks then this is not for you ( you can always use pedals) but otherwise it´s just the "meister"
lebroucke Hey man, I'm looking towards a valve head and the 18 might be te one!! just have some questions:
Does it takes pedals great?? i'll use od to get higher distortion metal sound and od or my proco rat in clean amp.
I love mine
@@kadathfir I'm using mine mostly at home now but it takes pedals like a champ. Running a mooer black truck majority of the time and it does its job.
Watching you guys play just makes me wanna pick up and play more... recently bought a tubemeister 18 combo, great amp for the dirty playing 🤘😝 keep it up guys, you’re awesome! 👍
Great vid guys!! Awesome playing
Capitan... Some super sick playing at the start of this video! Loved it.
I knew that Yankees are very resistant to accept anything that was designed and build in Europe but, these to British gents... Give me a brake dudes Lol...
You just helped me to make my mind. Despite the fact that newtube just showed up on the market, I will buy that smaller amp just because Lol... ("Just because..." was the end of questioning "Why ?" ...usually loudly announced by my, back than, 2 y.o. nice... Lol...)
Sorry my southern neighbours. Feel free to keep your *Fenders* and such for yourself... I'm going European, meaning: *Hughes & Kettner* 18W Head Tubemeister + 12" Celestion V-type speakers x 2. Having said that, I will never refuse to buy something that was designed and Made in Canada (Godin guitars, Traynor amps, any Yorkville products etc...)
Sorry my southern neighbours but you've got what *your dear leader, Dumb Stump Donald Trump* asked for Lol... So, there you have it...
I always feel BLOWN AWAY by Lee's journey in playing and hit style!
Captain meets Chon!! They'll be in Guildford the 13 of October
Best intro you guys ever had imho
We all know tubes get hotter than the sun 🔥 only amp on the market that gets as hot as it looks
I noticed too! You Keep up the good work Lee!!
I think they look gaudily bad ass.
that beach ball cracks me up every single time
Hi Guys - Perfect review thanks you! best regard
What were your EQ settings for these demos? I have a Tubemeister 18, which I love..... apart from the fact that I have to dial out ALL of the treble, because otherwise it's too scratchy, piercing and bitey.
Winter is coming! Gonna use my Tubemeister 36 to keep warm!
