This is like an amazingly awesome gift to me… My son is currently doing his masters in Lancaster Uni and I had the good fortune of spending a month in this lovely city when I went to visit him… It was like walking down Nostalgia Lane… Will watch it whenever I feel the deep urge to being there with my son…
And that is the problem with Lancaster full of student accommodation no affordable housing for the local youngsters the council bend over backwards for the university
Gimbal walk do you live there I do and I am afraid it is a university city as you say but behind it is a poverty-stricken no hope of a place for the ordinary Lancastrians that live there you say it pumps money into the local economy maybe for the local councillors and the university but nobody else a high street full of cafés and restraunts very few shops of note most retailer's are giving it a wide berth and as for the wealth you say gets put into the local economy have you been to Morecambe the real Morecambe not the 2 miles you show on your video of the promenade conveniently leaving out the West end of Morecambe and the shopping precinct which are possibly some of the most deprived areas in the North of England all overseen by Lancaster city council so don't lecture me on the university boosting the economy and making the area lucky to have it like I said any planning or major development the university wants the council always pass it when it comes to the local residents for affordable housing then the council drag there feet or reject it the university price most people out of renting properties in Lancaster as they are the only people that can afford to pay the rental prices properties that are bought and run by housing companies in Leeds , Manchester. And various other towns and I am not even going to mention the Eden project the council passing it this has been going on for over two years and the council have only just seen fit to pass it without the £70 million that the government Will have to invest I remeber the Mr Blobby fiasco that cost the council £2 million of our council tax money to pay of Noel Edmonds and his company that were going to build and the local council(Lancaster) pulling out so please don't Insult me with the university is good for the local economy.
@@Achilles66666 it's co-existing, if you mix with the students you'll get to know them and more often than not they provide valuable ideas insights and a fresh outlook into the everyday world, nit to mention about their contribution towards the local economy. The local youngsters are of the same age they would know better. The housing crisis is bad all over the world in most developed countries, but from what I have seen there are more rental houses than student accommodation which are very few.
A very nice walk, and I was particularly pleased to see it very clean, no litter for the most part. Some majestic buildings/architecture. The Castle was mafnificent !! Thanks for the trip once again Mr Walk 😁👍💯
@uaateacher I'll be in Lancaster next year To spend 6 months studying at Lancaster University, is it more financially worthwhile to stay in the city or on the university campus?
I lived in Lancaster for ages. I used to attend Central Lancaster High School, in Ridge. I was the Shot Put District Champion in 1997 and 1998 (I still have my trophies). And I was a hell of a rugby player. I love Lancaster. All my mates are still living there. I haven't been to Lancaster for 20 years. I think I should pay it a visit. God bless.
Thanks for this! I used to live in Lancaster great to have a quiet look around & it was such a beautiful sunny day when you did this walk! I go back to Lancaster to see it from time to time☺️
I've not been to Lancaster for a few years, so it was great to see, many thanks. Next time that you go, it's worth going to visit Williamson Park. This is where gallows hill used to be situated. There is the beautiful Ashton Memorial, a lovely butterfly house, lovely walks through the park, a cafe etc.
What's so crazy what made me look up this video I'm from Lancaster Pennsylvania and my friend on my Xbox he's from Lancaster UK and it's a weird coincidence so it made me look up this video
You chose a good sunny day in the morning. You missed.- The Horse Shoe at Horseshoe Corner, The Beehive on the old Co-op Building on New Street and the Victorian Post Box on the Church Street.. Also many Heritage plaques. You caught - the dustbins outside the top of Church Street. Lots of Buddliah growing out of listed buildings and Parking on Castle Park.
Attractive city , but I have another sort of question. I have been thinking of moving to Lancaster after living abroad for a long time. I don't know anyone there. Are the locals friendly towards strangers?
@@rogerfrankland913 Lancaster Cathedral is very photogenic too and all are welcome to visit as long as the silence is respected. It has having some exterior repair work done on the spire so that may not be too photogenic!
ITS A HISTORICAL TOWN AND THERE IS WILLIAMS PARK AND THERE ARE STALLLS WHERE YOU CAN ALSO PUT KNLY IF YOU ARE A FARMER AND THERE IS 0 POLLUTION + THERE IS NO RASICM AND EVERYBODY IS HELPFUL AND EVERYTHINGS NEARBY
Let me know where I should film next!
Where would you like to see?
Ulverston Southport
I'd like to see Stratford Upon Avon if possible.
Good work ... Can you please suggest the safest area/town to live in Lancaster.

University Students bring prosperity to the place. Without them the place would be dead
