This video just hit me hard. Beats are exactly like selling houses, you can rent them or completely give them away for a higher price. Love the real estate analogy.
I know i'm like a year late but I just got this video recommended and I just want to say thanks. This video has given me the motivation to really try and get my first beat sale.
+larryhill41 best of luck my friend. I always do some reevaluating after every 2-3 months to make sure I'm on track. Glad that you found this video when you did.
Wow thank you! I have been making beats for a few months now && every single one have been a hit. 5 of them are on iTunes right now. I didn’t charge the artist but now that I am getting more skilled in my craft I needed some pricing advice, I’m happy to come across this video 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾✨
yo, i just started thinking about selling my beats and this video really helped me with some insecurities about pricing. thanks for the wise words my guy.
If you lease a beat out 105 times to different artists, then the 106th artist buys it exclusively. Does that void the leasing of the 105 beforehand? Or does it mean that the exclusive buyer is now the lease holder for the other 105 and can claim copyright?
russell gills from curtisskings beats website it's worded something like " the 106th person will then be the last person able to BUY the beat" key words " last person to buy" so I'm guessing previous artist will still own their lease
good point, but if what you're buying is the exclusive right to use that beat.. that should theoretically void the other rights that people have, otherwise theres no exclusivity.. or if you have bought the exclusive rights, does that mean you now own all rights to that song and should be able to claim royalties from the previous artists that have already bought it? I have a feeling that "Exclusive" is just a term used to say "its not going to be sold again after you buy it" but technically speaking, the second a person chooses to buy a non exclusive lease of a beat, that beat can never be sold exclusively. Perfectly happy to work that way if thats just the way it is, but I'm wondering how that works legally really. wow i said exclusively a lot of times
russell gills I wish I knew more on the legal side of things to help you out but I honestly don't know. I get where your coming from, it's business though and nothing is simple when it comes to running a legal business
You Curtiss can you explain or maybe do a video on Track Out Leases? Are you essentially giving your beat out in an exclusive manner for a lease? Thanks.
Curtiss King is the truth. I've been watching so many videos for information on being a producer. I think I have found the go-to guy. Thanks for the information.
been following your work for a min man. since dem early days wit solo n q. jus discovered your channel recently. luv what you doin bruh. the message is always informative & positive. appreciate it. 💯
Man, thank you SO MUCH for every single word of yours! There’s not many people helping young producers, and thank God, there are people like you! Thank you for everything man, God bless you🙏🏻💎
I'm new to selling beats online so I'm selling non exclusives from $15 to $30 and exclusives from $50 to $100 is that a good way to start selling beats online?
Thanks Very nice content but it's weird to me when I'm thinking about something I need to know and there's the recommended of yours on that EXACT topic.
General leasing and exclusive contract templates can be found on a google search. In terms of copyright perhaps this video can help you: ruclips.net/video/4dqeiF5uWG4/видео.html
I sell 500 dollar exclusive rights to my full beats And then also have a 30 dollar catalogue of "budget beats" now with the full projects, on the 500 dollar songs, I offer industry standard Recording, Mixing and Mastering services FREE. It's something I just started up, and I actually made a different alias for my hip hop production. What are your thoughts on this business model?
Good video and channel....I have a question though. Does that exclusive buyer know the beat was leased 105 times before? If not, how do you handle it if he finds out? Thanks, Doug @LetoBeats
+Leto Beats absolutely. Most artists ask how many times a beat has been leased before making their exclusive purchase. An exclusive purchase pretty much gives that artist the exclusive rights to sell it. Also due to the competitive nature of artists and the leasing nature of leasing production, I find that most artists don't usually care about this number. If an artist purchases exclusively and finds out later how many times, I reassure them the rights they have to put a halt to records from that point on.
Can anybody explain why wav beats are so much more expensive, when all we do is turn it into a wav or mp3? I understand it's a business and vice versa, but I kind of don't get it, and I am starting to sell beats, and I put my all into it, but I think that there should just be wav beats? What do y'all think?
Thanks for the sub man, I will make a concerted effort to upload more often, but as the video goes, I have always had a problem with pricing, I don't want to low ball myself or price myself into the poor house.
im currently recording mixing mastering and making beats all by myself basically im a one man army i got so much to offer the hip hop world but i suck at marketing not to brag but not alot of ppl doing what i do how can i market myself not to sound money hungry but i got so many ways to captilize in the game but i dnt know how really any tips?
Marketing is merely a communication tool we use to communicate the value of our product. In essence communicating the actual value an artist can get from rapping on your beats is the best thing you could do. Doing RUclips videos showing other producers your value is a great place to start when it comes to gaining an audience and earning an income.
You are absolutely right, I used the wrong word completely. Thank you for the heads up, I honestly didn't realize that till you pointed it out today. Thank you!
There's a guy here on RUclips who gives away EVERY single one of his beats untagged for non-profitable use. And his leases are priced super cheap. I've seen guys with the same amount of subscribers as him charging like $300 in order for you to have track outs, unlimited sells rights, etc... this is for just one beat. This guy is charging $240 for track outs, UNLIMITED sells rights and all that stuff. This price is not for just one beat. It is for 14 beats. Yeah, FOURTEEN BEATS. For $240 you get 14 beats with unlimited rights to do anything you want with them. (sorry for my broken english) What do you think about this?
Thank youu ! I've learnt alot from you, you're truly humble 🙏 & producer's we should support each other by subbing & learning from each other comments will be important it's good to receive criticism thanks 1 sub +
Thank god I found your videos on RUclips bro. Thanks
I'm equally thankful to God that you found my videos! Glad you are finding value in the information!

It's an honor to be able to provide you that extra boost of motivation Jarred. Thank you for watching!
And im a year late to this..how is it going.
Raw 2.0 and I’m a year late to THAT comment
@@prod.bylucor1677 I'm 4 months late to UR comment
99 cent Xbox controller "probably going to blow your house up" hahaha
I can tell you're giving legitimate 411. Thanks!
hahaha thank you for watching!
25$ - mp3
50$ - mp3 and wav
100$ - unlimited lease mp3 and wav
200$ - mp3, wav, track outs
Make an offer - Exclusive rights
Is that reasonable?
Just right if you're established
That's definitely reasonable. I would raise the price if you feel like your music has improved.
This was right on time, I'm in the process of reevaluating my business plan so I needed some perspective on this very subject.
+larryhill41 best of luck my friend. I always do some reevaluating after every 2-3 months to make sure I'm on track. Glad that you found this video when you did.
This man just gave y’all knowledge on the business side of the industry. Don’t let your ego get in the way. Too many people out there.
Great perspectives. Still seems relevant today. Thanks for sharing!
Damn. That real estate analogy got me.
Wow 🤩 i don’t like headaches so ima increase the prices on my beats
yo, i just started thinking about selling my beats and this video really helped me with some insecurities about pricing. thanks for the wise words my guy.

I'm new to selling beats online so I'm selling non exclusives from $15 to $30 and exclusives from $50 to $100

Good shit fam. Thanks a bunch for the info.
Beats as real estate. Got it!
Damn that beat at the end of the vid. Where can I listen to it ?🔥🔥
Thanks Very nice content but it's weird to me when I'm thinking about something I need to know and there's the recommended of yours on that EXACT topic.
what if you offer every lease unlimited use? could you raise your minimum price then?
This guy is the real deal
Respect fam!
Where can I get a leasing and exclusive right contract we can use? Also how can we protect our work by doing a copyright on it?
General leasing and exclusive contract templates can be found on a google search. In terms of copyright perhaps this video can help you: ruclips.net/video/4dqeiF5uWG4/видео.html
Awesome advise my man. This was actually very informative and put together nicely. Thanks for the tip. I'll stay tuned to see what's next
amazing man keep it up!

by chance is there a beat appraiser?
Dope video bruh!
Truly appreciate u bro!!!
Are there any platforms that are commission based only?
Man.... just... thank you.
Hey.. Can you go live and talk about beat pricing... I have a lot of concerns... I don't wanna set my prices too high but maan I'm good at what I do
i know this video is old, but how much should i generally charge for a premium license? (wav+stems)
Good video and channel....I have a question though. Does that exclusive buyer know the beat was leased 105 times before? If not, how do you handle it if he finds out?
Thanks,
Doug

good video brother. Bless up
THAAAAANK YOUUUUU! Holy shit, I was drawn to this video for a reason. #Synchronicity #LawOfAttraction #Truth
Love your videos. What is the best site to sell beats on.
helped me so much

+Marquee Sound No problem. With pricing it's always about experimentation and finding a sweet spot that works for you
I'm leasing mp3 for 30.00 and wav for 50.00 and my exclusive I'm selling for 200.00 is that a good starting point or am I starting out too high
Good advice bruh!
great video fam
So much game for ya 👂
Do you mentor? New producer
Word
If I lease a beat first and some one else buys it exclusively what happens there ?
Thank you! :)
You are welcome!
So let's say I'm leasing my beats in double figures it should be good?
You sold a beat exclusively that had been selling for lease? How does that work?
Again, Thank You.
im currently recording mixing mastering and making beats all by myself basically im a one man army i got so much to offer the hip hop world but i suck at marketing not to brag but not alot of ppl doing what i do how can i market myself not to sound money hungry but i got so many ways to captilize in the game but i dnt know how really any tips?

Crazy Eyes if push comes to shove use that Instagram feature for business accounts
lmao misclicked, use the feature that let's you promote for like $5 you can reach a lot of people in a short timespan
I'm having a hard time getting the right people to hear my music, what can I do?
what about charging a percentage of sales instead of a flat price?
That's what I would like to do, but you probably have to get all kind of legal contracts involved and a bunch of BS
The realest
What's the difference between leasing a beat or selling it exclusively ? And would you have to copyright them before selling them or does it matter ?
Brian A lease is more like sending out the same beat to multiple people, vs. exclusive is JUST for one person
Is 60 bucks a good price for leasing a beat?
Depends you need to be producing for 2.5 years+ and have good beats it's good for a wav I would price a lease at 35-50 for wav and 25-35 for MP3
good stuff
Curtiss just one thing, indispensable means "cant be replaced." Word you mean is dispensable.
You are absolutely right, I used the wrong word completely. Thank you for the heads up, I honestly didn't realize that till you pointed it out today. Thank you!
What if you have to clear some samples and want to make the money back
I'll discuss this in a future video! #
Sale
I’ll just stay safe and start of with $20 per lease
