My dad is the music minister at our church and I’m constantly hearing there tracks downstairs because he needs one for every song! Honestly, props to him for doing a entire concert with that annoying track in your ear all the time.
I do lights at my church but I use in ears and the click for making the cuelist for the rehearsal. I dont use it for the live shows though because I do some FX live. I only listen to abelton and the click and FOH so I can hear talkback from the audio guy. Its crazy how much the actual band listens to though
Screaming girls making it impossible to hear anything on stage is exactly why the Beatles stopped doing live shows. Fan girls just can't help themselves, they get uncontrollable
As a musician, the in ear monitor mix is absolutely wild but it’s even funnier when there’s a music director guiding parts of the song or getting us back on when the singer goes off or does something spontaneous.
Yes because the crowd knows when to hype up and when to shut the fuck up, the crowd goes with the flow of the song and knows where to sing with the artist etc.
@@sunshinedaydream147are you sure they give lyrics? I could see keywords being said but there is no way they are putting through full lyrics….. that would be way too much to listen for and process while keeping rhythm and pitch.
It's click usually and cues plus whatever instrument or vocal mix you want. Bands or singers that need lyrics will have confidence monitors on the stage or somewhere in the room. A modern common one is using wedge monitors which are those speakers on the floor pointing up at the musicians everyone used to use those for monitors but lots of people don't need them anymore because they like in ears, so what they're doing is they're putting a screen in there so they have their monitor with the lyrics but we cant tell in the audience.

To all the people saying “it’s distracting”, you clearly aren’t musicians. The musicians on stage know their craft and know their songs and parts just fine with or without a super loud crowd or a metronome in their ears to keep time. The real reason bands use In-ears is to make the whole band tighter and play better and to keep time with the backing tracks if they have any.
Ill be playing with that click track and a MD in a few hours. It gives the listener a better experience. I love how people go, well then are you a true musician? Nope, the time gives me all the rhythm, skill and know how. 😂
As a musician, let me tell all of you nonmusicians that this metronome, or click, is a fucking godsend. Not only for recording music, but for performance to stay on time and keep the performance as tight as possible so you have a great time. And for those wondering, no, it's not annoying or distracting. To me, it sort of just blends into the background and whenever I need reference to where I'm at I think about it again and it's there still clicking along
in ears are fun, especially during rehersals when the band stops playing but the guy responsible for click forgets to turn it off, so everyone just kinda vibes to the click
i had to use click tracks when i sang at my church. they were so annoying at first but it’s very helpful and it helps the singers and the musicians stay on beat!
The earplugs just play whatever is coming through the rest of the bands microphones or the song that they are performing at the moment so they can hear everything going on. Idk about this guy but that’s how it is 99% of the time
They gotta do that shit so they can keep tempo because it's so easy to lose that shit when an entire auditorium is screaming
