How El comments that she thinks Will is acting weird because of a crush. Then Mike gets to California and starts acting super strange. Hmm. The way that in the final shot of S4, all of the Byers are on the right side of their pairings. And two of those three pairings are slowburn couples. Or how Mike says his relationship with his other best friends is different from his relationship with Will. i rewatched that scene and mike probably thought will liked angela. when el says she’s gonna hang out with her in the airport, wil says her name in a nervous way because obviously us the audience knows she’s a bully but mikes doesn’t know that so he probably thought that was wills crush. mikes smile slowly faded when he heard will mention her. when angela comes over to their table he looks between them, then when angela leaves with el, will stands up and watches them because he knows what’s gonna happen, but mike just looks down and drinks his milkshake casue he’s jealous. there’s a lot of reasoning behind the fight that they had but i think this is what made mike snap.
Yeah, I agree. If it becomes canon some people are still gonna be like “ byler came out of nowhere” but. It didn’t. It’s been building up slowly since the first season and all the proof you need is right there in each season of stranger things.
If Byler isn't endgame next season then I severely overestimated the Duffer's intelligence. If it becomes canon it's one of the best written friends to lovers story ever. If it doesn't then half of their story makes no sense at all. Also, while I do believe it has a chance of becoming Canon, my biggest fear is that they'll either kill one of them off or put Will with some random dude we've never met in the last five seconds to show he's "moved on" from Mike as if Mike isn't literally the love of his life
I heavily disagree. I’m all for Will getting a love interest but let’s face it, Byler is not endgame, it’s barely even a real canon thing in the show. The actors have chemistry together yes, but that doesn’t mean this was intentionally done by the Duffer brothers. I think Will has feelings for Mike, but I also think that it wouldn’t make sense for them to date, they’re two teenage kids in the 80’s. Mike has never shown interest in men, and having him question him sexuality on the last season of the show when he’s been dating a girl (whom I do think they shouldn’t be endgame either) for 2/3 of the show. If anything the relationship would be rushed and pander to an audience.
