I always thought vimwiki was some kinda wiki for vim which you could access from inside vim after installing it... like a collection of tutorials or whatever for learning vim...
Back in the olden days, if you didn't set up your unix terminal configuration correctly, the arrow keys would put a bunch of garbage in your file. Basically you had to configure. That forced us to use hjkl to move around.
So you said at the beginning you wanna use Vim to write historical papers. I'm not an expert at those things but maybe wordprocessors are the thing you need? Or do I confuse something here? Anyway, it seems to me that your quality of speaking gets better and better. This video here I really enjoyed much! Keep it up, the grind is paying off! :D Hav a nice day, bud!
@@TheLinuxCast Vim is the best word processor any way ... with a autocmd for buffer write to build the doc and you fly writing text is want vim was made for, that is why it got w W e E b B for moving over words.
HaHaHA Nice little Vim sarcasm at the end... I have tried to get into Vim and I just can't get my head around it... Sure I can open a file and quit a file with :q and that is the extent of it. Vim just does thing weird to me. I have always used a word processor or xed, Leafpad and so on with no issues as they all work the same and the short cuts make sense to me and all work like others in the OS. So I just give that one up to being old and 67... Lol Yep! You editing is getting better by the way and you a bit less tongue tied... :-) Thanks for the video! LLAP
I found that limelight works really well with Goyo, especially when writing, not coding or scripting.
bind the arrow keys to nop ... then it only take you a hour to get use to the hjkl
for better syntax highlighting .... treesitter is really great and work perfectly
You can also use '0 after opening vim in order to go to the last place where you were before exit.
When I reopen my last file, it auto lacate to the last place, I use vim7.4, no lastpalce plugin, not need '0.
I use Vim as my writing software for everything from articles to novels.
which key is good for vim noobs ... it show the keymap in a window ... ex key leader and it will all the keys you can hit next etc
Gundo is good for move back in time
Thanks for these.

"People who use vim... and know how to quit out of vim" 😂😂😂
I don't use plugins because I started using vi 35 years ago and thought vim was just vi.
I'm learning about plugins tonight.
