That was an awesome Snapper! Well located, expertly fought, and amazingly documented. You could hear the excitement and relief in your manner. Love your channel! Keep filming please! 😊
Thanks mate! It’s great fun and I’m glad you enjoyed it. They’ll definitely be more content coming when work permits me to get out for a fish. 👌🙂
Good work nice snappy and beautiful sunrise
Thanks mate! 🙏👌
1st time watching and enjoyed your video and subscribed. Brings back memories from 20+ years ago when I had a similar 4.35 Quintrex. It was early times for SPs. I actually had to import lures and the hooks I wanted from the US. It took me about 2 years to crack the code but once cracked we would bag out most days. I took a work mate to a productive spot and he plucked a 99cm Snapper. I still haven't forgiven him for beating my PB.
I used 14lb line on a small spin reel with 10lb leader. People thought I was mad using such light line but I rearlly got busted off while having the old black minn kota and I think it was one of the first auto pilots. I mostly drifted as there was no spot lock in the olden days. I also followed the 5m to 8m contour but not with a gps map. I actually followed the contours and put a mark on a hand held gps ever 5m or so. This was better than any mapping on a gps as they were never accurate.
I fish from a Hobie kayak every now and then but I may have to get another boat now I am retired.
Keep up the good Snapper.
Man 99cm is an absolute beast! I’m glad you liked video mate. I was a kayak fisherman for many years before getting a boat and I can say there is definitely some advantages with a kayak especially in the skinny water but for the majority of fishing I do nowadays a solid little boat setup makes all the difference. I’m a big fan of light gear sometimes having to almost force myself to put it down when targeting big fish. Yeah if I were retired and didn’t have a boat I’d be changing that real quick haha. 👌👍
Great work Marty. Your best video yet.
What a cracking Snapper! Well done.
Keep em coming mate.
Thanks heaps mate! 👍👌
How goods that feeling when you fight ,see and then land a really quality fish.
Could visibly see how stoked you were. Love your work!!
Thanks heaps buddy, yeah I was stoked with both fish. I was a bit tired to show it by the time I’d landed the tuna haha. 😂😂
@@martytuckerfishing can’t imagine fighting those tuna on your set up. The pelagics I catch are all on minimum 50lb braid.
Mind you I’m trolling about 20kmh.
What you did was a bloody great effort by anyone’s standards.👍
@@Jakhunta thanks mate it was a bloody effort let me tell ya haha. I guess the difference is the majority of the fish I target can be handled on that gear just fine however the odd one I hook can push really the limits of what the gear can handle haha.
Another great vid Marty, Congrats on some expert angling.
Thanks heaps man! 😊👌
Gday Marty. I recently had a guy, that has moved here from Victoria, trying to tell me how shit Moreton bay was to fish because there weren't any fish. As long as they keep thinking like that there'll be plenty of fish for the locals !!! Thanks for the vid mate..
Hey Mick, yeah I love the fishing around here. For a fishery that is pressured it performs amazing well in my opinion! 👍
That was an awesome effort. Great video. Got to get to mud sometime.
Thanks man! Yeah get out there and give it crack. 🎣
Awesome session mate that big snap was mint💪🏼
Thanks heaps mate! 👌🤙
Awesome session mate! Great variety and the snapper was a brute!
Thanks man! I’m a big fan or your videos as well, since finding your channel I haven’t missed an episode.👌👍
@@martytuckerfishing really? Haha thanks mate! Watching your vids I think I need to up my game haha..need to get a boat again 😅
@@farcanalfishing definitely, your videos are always an interesting watch buddy. Yeah mate a boat definitely helps although kayaks do have their own advantages I have to admit. 👌
Awesome vid mate keep them coming
Cheers buddy! 🤙😊
That's great fishing on 10lb Marty. Well done.
Thanks mate 👍
Good stuff buddy 👍
Thanks heaps mate! 👌🤙
The bloke in the small tinnie moved onto your spot as soon as you started chasing the second large fish
Haha, they dropped an anchor down when and near where I hooked the big snapper, which didn’t worry me and it definitely didn’t seem to worry the fish. 🙂
Awesome 🤩 mate well done 👍😎
Thanks heaps, glad you enjoyed! 🙂👍
Hi Marty, great Snapper mate!! Could you please inform me again what rod and reel you were using to catch that snapper. And who would sell it in the Redlands? Also, in your opinion, would this set up be good as an all rounder for catching whiting, flathead and snapper. I'm looking at getting some new gear, boat's still a few months away from delivery, so just getting organized :). Also, with that reel, do you still get the old "Bunch of grapes" at times when casting?, or are they geared differently to the old bait casters? As you can probably tell, I'm a complete novice when it comes to fishing Moreton Bay, and the gear you need :( Cheers, Gordon
@@user-be8zj1zd9o Hey mate, the reel is a Diawa Tatlula SV 70 and the rod is a Samaki Zing Extreme V2. I’m not sure if anywhere in the Redlands would sell it. I got mine from MO tackle and the rod I just got at BCF. With any baitcaster you can always get a few backlashes especially when you’re getting used to them. That setup is a good all rounder for flathead, snapper, grassey emperor and even jew. If you are wanting to chaise bream and whiting on lures you’re better off using a light spin outfit or bfs setup because those little lures are usually too light to comfortably cast even with the Tatula. If I were just getting started fishing Moreton bay I have a 6lb, 10lb and a 20lb setup in either spin or cast in the two heavier setups and lighter one being spin. I hope this helps mate. 👍
UGG BOOT POWER 💪🏽
😂😂👌
There must be a few wrecks sitting out there from the Brisbane River floods. It would be good to find those & see what life they attract.
I’m not sure what the structure is out there off the port. It almost looks like old submerged jetties or something from back in the day. They’re not hard to find if sound around for a while. 🤙👍
That snapper and tuna were awesome! I hooked a long tail at the mouth of the river on 6 pound and it smoked me. How did the sashimi go?
Yeah nice! I’ve hooked big Mac Tuna on bream gear at the port as well and they smoked me in no time haha.
I’m very impressed with how well the Long-tail eats. Good sashimi and fantastic on the smoker! 👌
Cracking day!!!! Nice stuff
Thanks mate! 🤙🙂
Hey mate love your work what side of mud is this if you don’t mind me asking?
And are you finding your fish on the sounder or are you finding the structure and just fishing around it
Cheers
Hey mate, I basically followed the eastern outer contours on my maps looking for fish and bigger schools of bait on my side imaging. Fishing structure is usually unproductive if you’re not seeing life around it on your sounder. 👍
Sweet video mate , ive got a similar size boat with a 50hp how much fuel do u use going out to mud
Hey Aaron! Good question, from Colmslie out and around mud and back to Colmslie about 16-18 litres I believe. 🤔
@martytuckerfishing sweet thanks mate 👍
The Renegade will get up and go with the new Yamy …20 min to Mud island I reckon
@@chrisjenko9808 yeah she hooks with a Yamaha 60 on the back haha. 👌
Hi Marty great fishing. Do you think you could do me a favour and wear a lifejacket? I’m an old bloke now but I fell out once tripping over thhe anchor rope. I was on my own and it almost ended my life. I’m just hypersensitive to young guys who are great at fishing but may overlook something that happens so easily.
Fanstastic video and effort on the light gear. Congrats on the PB snapper. Assume the longtail didnt end up a PB?
Yeah both PBs tbh I’d never caught a long tail so it was a PB by default haha. 😂🤙
@@martytuckerfishing PBs by default are like winning by default... the best fkn kind
@@joeoneil5764 haha, ya not wrong mate! 😂😂
What side of mud island were you at? Caught nothing but bloody grinners out there
Southwest side and yes some days the grinners are so thick out there you get nothing else.
@joelmyers3955 I’m glad I’m not the only one. I got a record haul of them Sunday. Nothing else. Big ones too!
Hi Marty what sort of rod and reel are you using?
Reel is a Diawa Tatula SV 70.
Rod is a Samaki Zing Extreme V2 6-12lb.
nice fish mate, how good are the creepers.
A lure that can catch anything from undersized bream to meter plus tuna is pretty good in my book mate haha. 👍👌
@martytuckerfishing it's the jelly bean theory, everything loves a jellybean.
What depth of water?
Between 5-9meters.
