If they hear their voices it means you are piping in the system sound, not just the specific program you are using. IE you are probably using the Voice Meter input as either the system default output or your discord is using that output. You need to make sure the output of everything except your music is going strait to your headphones and the music is going to the Voicemeter input. It should be exactly the same quality as you hear it. However, once you send the high quality music compression or noise reduction might take over. For example if playing in discord, you need to set it to push to talk and make sure Krisp is turned off. Discord tries to filter out background noise and only send your audio if it thinks you are talking. Compression will occur when games reduce the quality of audio to reduce the amount of data needed to send and receive. This will depend on the game/media you are talking/playing through. You don't need to mute yourself but people will hear the music and what you say if you are talking and playing.
You aren't the only one, don't worry about that. I would go back through and carefully follow the steps again. One thing to be aware of is you cannot create a feedback loop. For example you cannot make your sound go from discord to voice meter and then back into discord that will cause problems. You need to have a specific program that you want to play sounds from and use the audio mixer to pipe that directly to voicemeter

Not sure what you mean, Voicemeeter plays whatever you put into it. So if another program modifies your mic, that program needs to be going into voicemeeter for it to come through.
Go to the video at 3:05 I will say that I have A muted. A is the output to yourself, B is the output to others. So if your mic is coming in at input 1 (far left) like in my video, and you don't want anyone to hear your real mic, then you should make sure neither A nor B are green.
Are you trying to input sound from something you are playing? Because then you would need it in the playback section. You are playing the music to VoiceMeeter who will then play it where you want it.
Do you have a feedback loop where it goes out of vivaldi and back into vivaldi? If you have sound playing from a program into voicemeeter you can't use that same program for the output. For example, if you are playing music on Vivaldi (virtual line in), you should use a game, or Chrome (virtual line out) Have you already rebooted after installing everything?
Is this a question or a description of an issue you are having? I can't think of any time that should happen. If you follow the instructions in the video you will always hear game audio, but if you have VM selected as your mic input in the game and VM is not running people would not hear your microphone.
So right now I'm having an issue where for applications I cant use my default headphones, and Im forced to use the Voicemeeter input nvm, I managed to fix it. to others having that problem Change your hardware output to MME
Yes I believe I mentioned it in the video, there is MME and WDM are two different methods for Audio Drivers and the compatibility is dependent upon your headphones I find everything works better in MME, but in some situations WDM should work better.
Im having an issue where when I go in the sound mixer options, it doesnt show a youtube video like it does for you, I tried playing the video as you said, still doesnt show up, in fact there isnt anything else as just apps and stuff like that, maybe they updated something cuz this video is quite old now... idk, ples help if possible

The new 2021 updated might be the problem i guess, cause i noticed some changes in the Voicemeter app. So i really followed your instructions but yhea they still cant hear my Music from my spotify In game
I just installed the newest version and don't see any issues. I would reboot your computer and then make sure that the game has the correct microphone (Voice Meter output) selected
i want to play the input sound i get to people i am talking to in discord but it doesn't work, tried with youtube and i can mute it but not make other people hear it
Go to discord and use the Voice and Video section to test your mic. Is the input set to use VoiceMeter? When you do a Mic Test do you see the sound fluctuate with the youtube audio? Is the youtube sound in the green on the input sensitivity section? You want that set to Manual and where the music is constantly above that line. Is Noise Suppression turned off? Noise Suppression will work to kill stuff like music through the mic.
@@tikityler1386 I set the on the mixer front standard to voicemeter. With YT it worked but with discord didn't, I even changed the discord sound settings to voicemeter. I gave up on it, but still thanks for the quick awnser
Changing the PC volume should affect the volume going to your headphones, but it won't affect what is playing through the app unless you open the windows sound mixer in the bottom right by right clicking on the speaker icon. (you may need to click the dropdown in there to select the right output volume to adjust) If you are saying that it does not change the volume going to your headset then I would need to see a video of some sort of what you are talking about to be of much help.
i need help for some reason when i do everything you did it plays everything back that i hear instead of just what im trying to play how do i fix this?
It sounds like you muted the wrong one. Remember To highlight the box for the correct outputs. I'd use the Reset Settings option and follow the instructions again.
Because its easier to show someone how to pipe everything over to Voicemeter. The Sound Mixer options are also less well known than changing audio defaults. The method I show leaves other programs unaffected and only shares what you want to.
Hello thanks for the video. Only issue is I can hear the sound on my headset great it sounds like it should but when I’m online and and go into a party chat my teammates say it sounds like crap. But like I said on my end it sounds awesome. How to I fix it for them. Thanks in advance
There are a few things it could be. You could have the input or output set to the wrong type. MME VS WDM VS KS go to 1:40 and 2:25 If its not those, the most likely thing is the program you are playing to messes with voice quality. Do a test by going to something like mictests.com/ where you can record a minute of you making sounds and then listen to it play back and see how it sounds after that. If it sounds great for you when it plays back, and you put the right "Mic" into the game then you might be running into limitations of the game.
@@tikityler1386 I just did a mic test and it sounded good much better then in game play. I’m assuming it’s an issue with the game. I appreciate your help. Thanks
I would go through the video and make sure that everything is still setup the same way. Key spots to look for are the Mixer settings and the input for the program you are speaking over. Use something like discord to check and make sure its working.

You made the Virtual Input line your Default Audio output. You are supposed to have your headset as default and you need to use the program you are playing audio through to set Virtual Input as your output device OR you need to use the Mixer. Please rewatch the video paying specific attention to the section discussing the Windows Sound Mixer Settings.
@@tikityler1386 yeah I realized that, but it was late at night and forgot to update. Again, massive respect to you for still helping the people in the comments. Thank you
Is the output setup correctly? You mentioned you enabled A and B , that will make it so that A and B go to the VoiceMeter output (your Mic) and there is a drop down on the top right of Voice Meeter that says A1 and A2, those are your hardware outs. You need to make sure your speaker (headphones) are selected there. Rewatch the video and pause at each step to make sure you have the same step applied properly.
If you follow the instructions to set up a browser or program to play into VoiceMeeter, you can play as much as you want. Anything you are playing just needs to go through VoiceMeeter.
is it possible to hear your audio bytes while playing it? I tried making sure A1 is on to hear it but whenever I record it with obs or nvidia replay, it duplicates the audio
has anyone experienced the lack of a Sound Mixer Options in Win 10 - my system doesn't have this anywhere? its the old sound mixer only. running Windows 10 Home(v1709) i7-6700HQ
Hi Christopher, I'm not quite certain what you mean. Pressing the windows key and Typing Mixer should pull it up or right clicking on the speaker at your bottom right. If it does not there may be something wrong with your OS/drivers.
If you can't hear Arma, you probably want to use the Audio Mixer to pipe it directly to your headset. Sounds like you made voicemeter your default output rather than just the program you want to be playing audio. Something you could do to test would be to go into discord with Arma playing and test your mic to see if its picking up Arma sounds.
That is exactly what this video shows, instead of routing the browser I do into VoiceMeeter, route whatever you are playing sound bytes in. Make sure that the Voicemeeter output is your input into Discord. Discord will often try to filter out that kind of stuff though so you need to turn of Krisp and usually it works better on push to talk.
Do you know if other people were able to hear the audio from you? If yes, then you did not have the audio piped from VoiceMeeter to your headset, it was muted in VM, or it was too quiet. If it worked with other software but not Spotify the most likely case is that you did not get it going through to VM. Some software needs to be restarted after changing the output with Windows Sound Mixer Options. Close the software and open it again, make sure its still set properly in the Windows Sound Mixer and try again. May consider rebooting your computer or restarting the audio engine in VM. If none of that works let me know.
This Means that your discord sound is being routed to Voicemeter. You want to either go make the sound you are trying to play go straight to VM or you need to make sure discord is going straight to your headset
@@geordi5054 Sorry, YT only alerts me on the main thread comment. In discord you can Specify the output Device or you can use the sound mixer like I showed in the video

Hi That is because you have now set it all up to run through voicemeeter. You either need to change it back to use your regular methods when not using voicemeeter or just always have it running.
Please be as specific as possible with what the other people are saying they can hear. If you go test it on like discord using the test microphone option in the settings, for example can you hear it?
1 Can you hear your own Mic when you have A and B selected in the first column? 2 Can you hear the sound you are playing 3 Can others hear the sound you are playing? 4 Did you reboot the computer after doing the install?
@@harryhancox5977 Whether you hear it or not should be related to the A and B mute settings. If others can hear it but you can't that is usually the problem
Most likely issue with Discord would probably be the Voice Input sensitivity. Discord turns off your mic transmission when below a certain threshold so if you want to play to Discord you need to make it loud enough to pass the threshold or turn down the threshold so that the sound levels don't get below the cut off point. That is the Yellow and Green Bar on the Voice and Video menu.

@@THEGOATMOATPVP23 You're welcome, have a great day.
can u help me when i cahnge the output on vivaldi to voicemeter input it mutes all the audio for me even if a is on
Do you have a feedback loop where it goes out of vivaldi and back into vivaldi? If you have sound playing from a program into voicemeeter you can't use that same program for the output. For example, if you are playing music on Vivaldi (virtual line in), you should use a game, or Chrome (virtual line out)
Have you already rebooted after installing everything?
Godamn broo Thank you soooo muchhh
i can't hear my game audio with it open, but when it's not running i can hear it?
Is this a question or a description of an issue you are having? I can't think of any time that should happen. If you follow the instructions in the video you will always hear game audio, but if you have VM selected as your mic input in the game and VM is not running people would not hear your microphone.
@@tikityler1386 i managed to fix it, thanks anyway
So right now I'm having an issue where for applications I cant use my default headphones, and Im forced to use the Voicemeeter input
nvm, I managed to fix it. to others having that problem Change your hardware output to MME
Yes I believe I mentioned it in the video, there is MME and WDM are two different methods for Audio Drivers and the compatibility is dependent upon your headphones I find everything works better in MME, but in some situations WDM should work better.
Im having an issue where when I go in the sound mixer options, it doesnt show a youtube video like it does for you, I tried playing the video as you said, still doesnt show up, in fact there isnt anything else as just apps and stuff like that, maybe they updated something cuz this video is quite old now... idk, ples help if possible
ok, I found a way how to fix it myself or whatever, I just had to put google chrome(on which I was playing the videos on) as the thing for the voicemeeter to use.
@@tomass6415 Hi Tomass, glad got that figured out. Yes it is only going to list programs, in my example I used a specific browser that I'm only using for playing audio through voicemeeter. Anything played through the program you select will be broadcast via voicemeeter.
Hi im trying this and i cant still figured it out why it doesnt play music in any games from my Spotify.
@@tikityler1386 Ok thankyou
i want to play the input sound i get to people i am talking to in discord but it doesn't work, tried with youtube and i can mute it but not make other people hear it
Go to discord and use the Voice and Video section to test your mic.
When I change the pc volume, the volume doesn't go higher or lower unless I adjust it from the app. Is there any fix to this without closing the app?
Changing the PC volume should affect the volume going to your headphones, but it won't affect what is playing through the app unless you open the windows sound mixer in the bottom right by right clicking on the speaker icon. (you may need to click the dropdown in there to select the right output volume to adjust)
If you are saying that it does not change the volume going to your headset then I would need to see a video of some sort of what you are talking about to be of much help.
i need help for some reason when i do everything you did it plays everything back that i hear instead of just what im trying to play how do i fix this?
It sounds like you muted the wrong one. Remember To highlight the box for the correct outputs. I'd use the Reset Settings option and follow the instructions again.
why do other tutorials set voicemeter inpuit as the default playback device instead of you just leaving the speakers as default.
Because its easier to show someone how to pipe everything over to Voicemeter. The Sound Mixer options are also less well known than changing audio defaults. The method I show leaves other programs unaffected and only shares what you want to.

ok buddy nice rick roll >:(
Hello thanks for the video.
MME VS WDM VS KS go to 1:40 and 2:25
If its not those, the most likely thing is the program you are playing to messes with voice quality.
Thanks
anytime I use an input for input 2 i hear myself?
I'd recommend resetting it and carefully going over my video step by step again.
mine been working for a long time but now no one can hear my music playing am i doing something wrong ive used it for years
I would go through the video and make sure that everything is still setup the same way. Key spots to look for are the Mixer settings and the input for the program you are speaking over. Use something like discord to check and make sure its working.

when i open sound mixer options it doesnt show youtube ut it shows as google chrome
Thats what it should show, in order to just have youtube you would need to install another browser and use it for that.
thanks man!
Hey there, so I have a problem with people hearing the game audio or themselves through the mic, do you know the fix?
You made the Virtual Input line your Default Audio output. You are supposed to have your headset as default and you need to use the program you are playing audio through to set Virtual Input as your output device OR you need to use the Mixer. Please rewatch the video paying specific attention to the section discussing the Windows Sound Mixer Settings.
@@tikityler1386 yeah I realized that, but it was late at night and forgot to update. Again, massive respect to you for still helping the people in the comments. Thank you
whenever i open youtube, i cannot hear the audio of the video why is that please help me solve this issue
even though i enabled the both A and B
Is the output setup correctly? You mentioned you enabled A and B , that will make it so that A and B go to the VoiceMeter output (your Mic) and there is a drop down on the top right of Voice Meeter that says A1 and A2, those are your hardware outs. You need to make sure your speaker (headphones) are selected there.
Rewatch the video and pause at each step to make sure you have the same step applied properly.
I was told to do this.
Yoi can do multiple songs or do this on mic videogames bro?
If you follow the instructions to set up a browser or program to play into VoiceMeeter, you can play as much as you want. Anything you are playing just needs to go through VoiceMeeter.
is it possible to hear your audio bytes while playing it? I tried making sure A1 is on to hear it but whenever I record it with obs or nvidia replay, it duplicates the audio
Same issue
Thank you man ur amazing +sub
has anyone experienced the lack of a Sound Mixer Options in Win 10 - my system doesn't have this anywhere? its the old sound mixer only. running Windows 10 Home(v1709) i7-6700HQ
Hi Christopher, I'm not quite certain what you mean. Pressing the windows key and Typing Mixer should pull it up or right clicking on the speaker at your bottom right. If it does not there may be something wrong with your OS/drivers.
@@tikityler1386 theres definitely something wrong,
Im trying to do this with arma but i cant hear the audio in arma
If you can't hear Arma, you probably want to use the Audio Mixer to pipe it directly to your headset. Sounds like you made voicemeter your default output rather than just the program you want to be playing audio.
Something you could do to test would be to go into discord with Arma playing and test your mic to see if its picking up Arma sounds.
I'm trying to link all this to do soundbytes in discord, how would I archive that?
That is exactly what this video shows, instead of routing the browser I do into VoiceMeeter, route whatever you are playing sound bytes in. Make sure that the Voicemeeter output is your input into Discord. Discord will often try to filter out that kind of stuff though so you need to turn of Krisp and usually it works better on push to talk.
Worked great but I tried this with Spotify I couldn’t hear the audio any idea why?
Do you know if other people were able to hear the audio from you? If yes, then you did not have the audio piped from VoiceMeeter to your headset, it was muted in VM, or it was too quiet.
If it worked with other software but not Spotify the most likely case is that you did not get it going through to VM. Some software needs to be restarted after changing the output with Windows Sound Mixer Options. Close the software and open it again, make sure its still set properly in the Windows Sound Mixer and try again. May consider rebooting your computer or restarting the audio engine in VM.
If none of that works let me know.
@@tikityler1386 yea it worked thanks so much bro really appreciate it
I am going to abuse this information
Ive got a problem. When i play my music through the mic via discord, my friend hears himself twice if he says something... how do i fix this?
This Means that your discord sound is being routed to Voicemeter. You want to either go make the sound you are trying to play go straight to VM or you need to make sure discord is going straight to your headset
@@tikityler1386
How do you do that?
@@geordi5054 Sorry, YT only alerts me on the main thread comment. In discord you can Specify the output Device or you can use the sound mixer like I showed in the video

Edit: I managed to fix it, all I had to do was relaunch discord.

People are complaining about hearing a echo
An echo of themselves or the music?
Please be as specific as possible with what the other people are saying they can hear. If you go test it on like discord using the test microphone option in the settings, for example can you hear it?
Can you use this to play music in games thru your mic?
That is in fact the what it can be used for.
i have the mic all working, but cant get desktop audio working
1 Can you hear your own Mic when you have A and B selected in the first column?
2 Can you hear the sound you are playing
3 Can others hear the sound you are playing?
4 Did you reboot the computer after doing the install?
TikiTyler sorry for late reply, everything works, I just can’t hear the desktop sound when playing it
@@harryhancox5977 Whether you hear it or not should be related to the A and B mute settings. If others can hear it but you can't that is usually the problem
So i configured this to where I want to play it through my account on discord but there is so much popping noises. Anyone know how to fix it
Most likely issue with Discord would probably be the Voice Input sensitivity. Discord turns off your mic transmission when below a certain threshold so if you want to play to Discord you need to make it loud enough to pass the threshold or turn down the threshold so that the sound levels don't get below the cut off point.
That is the Yellow and Green Bar on the Voice and Video menu.

@@TuanAnh-zp9cn You can play whatever sounds you want through this, or if you mean by playing an actual guitar, you need to get your guitar's output into your PC. Probably using an output on an amp to a 3.5 millimeter input on your PC.
im not hearing my audio in game, i only hear the music from chrome, did i do something wrong?
@Mark
Do other people hear your game audio over your mic?
You need to make sure that your game Audio is still set to go to your headset. If you sent all of your audio to VoiceMeter and have muted it or made it quieter that might cause it.
Check your Game settings if it has the option to send the audio output right to your headset
Check the Audio Mixer and see where the game sound is going.
