Your video was by far the best I've come across (and I watched many). I still had to tweak it a bit (although I'm pretty dumb with this audio stuff) for specific games but I couldn't have figured it out without this!

Hey! It happens to me that when I assign voicemeter by default for the audio I listen to, I can no longer manage the general volume of the PC from Windows (nor from the keyboard on which I have a wheel to manage it), how do I solve it? really well explained video, thanks!
Sorry when you set this up you make voicemeeter your sound manager instead of windows so you control volume with it and what not. I'm not sure how your wheel is setup either, I have a go xlr mini setup through and I use that to adjust volume and what not but it's routed a little bit differently
I think I have done this setup with about 10 diffent videos. Always something was not working as intended. you are the only one that made it so easy to setup
This tutorial explains it vary well compared to many others that I have seen and its the only one that does not involve VB-Audio Cable which is broken on Voicemeeter as I continue to get driver errors after re-installing them. This is also one of the few videos using Voicemeeter Potato as many others use basic or Banana.

I was finding the same issue when I was learning how to use voicemeeter I had to watch a lot of videos to get the full understanding of what I wanted to do and people would leave stuff out, so I made this video and tried not to leave stuff out. I guess I didn't need vb audio cable at the time for my setup which is why I didn't add it but I have used it as an audio repeater in the past.
This works great. I’ve noticed the sound quality isn’t that great from what others can hear on discord. But it does work. Great explanation. There’s more in discord settings someone could do to help the sound come through better like turning off the sound gates and such.

@@shakultra Its not just Discord its overall on Windows, I made sure to turn every noice gate thats possible off. I also tried putting spotify into another channel like u showcased in your other video, but it still gets filtered out :/
If you already tried changing the settings on Discord then it's an issue with your Windows sound settings that you need to look into and just turn off extra stuff because it's not normal for it to just play through for 15 seconds and then shut off. Does it do the same thing if you blow into your microphone for 15 to 20 seconds or make consistent noise into your microphone for 15 to 20 seconds. If it does that's def a setting somewhere that needs to be turned off
In discord my Input Device is VoiceMeeter Output the (Normal one) and output is default. I tried multiple websites where u just allow it to have access to your mic and record. (used same thing).

After you setup your desktop audio defaults and restart voicemeter it'll just show up right there because that's where all the audio playing on your pc will output to. The B1 - B3 isn't working, I have it set as my default like you said for recording but when i click them so they can play into my mic it doesn't work, for ref I'm using windows 11 so idk..
You need to set voicemeter as your default audio device and recording device, after that verify that by playing music on your pc, if you see the levels moving you did it right if you don't you didn't do it right, then worry about adding your headset then mic. With you need to setup vm like I explained and then do what I said in the second part of that other comment, also what ever we browser you're using make sure the audio device it's set for is the default audio device not voicemeeter since voicemeeter is setup as the default on your pc
Since you are playing music through the same voice channel as your mic all you have to do is go into game chat and play the music. Just mute yourself in discord. Or setup another channel like b2 and use that as your default in game mic and play music through that one only. It's way easier to just not be in discord or mute ur mic.

I'm mosty confused about sample frequency setup and bit depth. If I play a file with 192kHz sample rate, will voicemeeter downsample it to 48kHz? Second, I don't know how to bypass or reset the virtual input EQ/balance dials - is it possible? it is literally impossible to tell if they are in neutral. I use banana - maybe upgrade to potato would help?
You can reset your setting on voicemeter and that will reset the eq stuff to the defaults, you can check the system setting for voice meter to see change the output
When I setup VM potato so that "voicemeeter VAIO" set as the default playback device and "voicemeeter aux VAIO" is the default communication device, then no matter if I use WDM or MME, I get Crackling when audio of any source is played. I switch to "voicemeeter VAIO" set as both default playback and default communication device, then everything is smooth and pure and the crackling disappears. I can't figure it out.
nvm, I somehow found a way. Props to me fr There's a setting in menu called Shortcut Key (HOOK). Here you can choose for your volume keys to be bound to A1 or A2 collectively, allowing for simultaneous control.

Voicemeeter updated the program so now it looks different in the settings so everything that I showed is correct but you have to find which one correlates to which one I was talking about and I haven't done that quite yet but once I do then I'll make a video

Im trying to set up my voice meeter to play music through my mic but i only have a minimized version of it, missing the rest of those input/output tabs. all i have is Stereo input 1, Stereo input 2, Virtual input and hardware out. and for some reason the hardware out tab doesnt recognize my headset as a headset, it recognizes my monitor as my headset.
Since you are using the regular version of voicemeeter you can put your mic in Hardware input 1, put your headphones in Hardware out A1( if it's not showing up restart your computer and it should show up) then you can move spotify into your virtual input so you can control it separately it will be called something different than vio3 in my video but if you click around and try a few things you''ll get it. After downloading Voicemeeter Potato, I received all audio drivers except for two. I'm missing an AUX Output device and a Voicemeeter Output device, but I have those devices for the Input side. How can I get these two output drivers? I'm stuck trying to get those; I've been reinstalling and installing Voicemeeter Potato multiple times and still get the same issue when uninstalling everything related to Voicemeeter.
@@shakultra Yeah, I reinstalled it and rebooted my system, but I still don't have them. I have the ones that say Voicemeeter Out A1 from Voicemeeter Out B2, but I don't have AUX or Voicemeeter Output for my recording side. The thing is, I did have Voicemeeter Banana, and everything was working fine until I wanted to switch over to the Potato version.
Im not sure why you aren't getting the other options in your recording tab Maybe install hibit Uninstaller then uninstall vm then install vm using installation monitoring then uninstall it, then install it again to see if it changes. But that's a long shot

g'day it'd be amazing for a tutorial on win11 as there's almost none, and for me most sounds and things aren't the same name, like "Hardware input" and "stereo input", aswell as a proper way to install it, and how to move a certain app like youtube/spotify to vaio3, which isn't under "app volume and device preferences" in windows 10, but in "volume mixer" and you need to click it to see the input/output device

Can someone help me? I tried this tutorial, and it worked for me, but my desktop audio stutters while my mic audio is perfectly fine when I play music through this virtual B1 cable. AIMP player, RUclips in browser, videos from my desktop... They all stutter. Some of them didn't tho, I have no idea how it works. Is this a Discord issue or smth? I even tried those audiodg.exe fixes as well, it's all the same. Disabling noise suppression from Krisp did nothing either. I'm desperate

@shakultra the only problem i had was that my game sound even played trough my mic so then the players inside the game could hear my game sounds with the music i played. So i deleted it cause they weren't to happy.

How do you get the options for steam/discord/nvidia? I follow all of the instructions and I've got everything from my desktop streaming to my mic and I have no option to select what I want streaming to my mic. Everyone gets an echo of what I hear.

I'm not sure how voice mod works but most likely you would just set up voice meter as your default device and then you would get voice mod and just set up voice mod to use your default device which would be voicemeeter not like your regular microphone

You are doing something wrong in your process . When you move spotify to vio3. Look at your microphone input all the way to the left and it should be going to b1 and in the 3rd slot where spotify is make sure b1 is highlighted too. Then go and check your discord settings.

You didn't do the setup like I did in the beginning because your friends are supposed to be routing through the chat channel to the right of the desktop channel and you should have A1 selected on the chat channel so you hear them through your headphones so they are not being played through the desktop audio channel. Then you can click b1 on the desktop and your music will be routed through your mic channel and they won't hear themselves. If they still do then you need to make sure you initially setup voicemeter as your defaults like I did and then go into discord and make sure your audio devices are default in discord and make sure the settings I told you a few comments ago are good too. Also if you go to 2:20 in that other bid and make it so spotify is in another channel then all you would have to do is make sure b1 is only highlighted on the 3rd channel and your mic channel

Your video was by far the best I've come across (and I watched many). I still had to tweak it a bit (although I'm pretty dumb with this audio stuff) for specific games but I couldn't have figured it out without this!

Sorry when you set this up you make voicemeeter your sound manager instead of windows so you control volume with it and what not. I'm not sure how your wheel is setup either, I have a go xlr mini setup through and I use that to adjust volume and what not but it's routed a little bit differently

This tutorial explains it vary well compared to many others that I have seen and its the only one that does not involve VB-Audio Cable which is broken on Voicemeeter as I continue to get driver errors after re-installing them. This is also one of the few videos using Voicemeeter Potato as many others use basic or Banana.

I guess I didn't need vb audio cable at the time for my setup which is why I didn't add it but I have used it as an audio repeater in the past.
This works great. I’ve noticed the sound quality isn’t that great from what others can hear on discord. But it does work. Great explanation. There’s more in discord settings someone could do to help the sound come through better like turning off the sound gates and such.

If you already tried changing the settings on Discord then it's an issue with your Windows sound settings that you need to look into and just turn off extra stuff because it's not normal for it to just play through for 15 seconds and then shut off. Does it do the same thing if you blow into your microphone for 15 to 20 seconds or make consistent noise into your microphone for 15 to 20 seconds. If it does that's def a setting somewhere that needs to be turned off

Let me ask you something. Under your “desktop audio” how did you connect your Spotify to that & have it show up?
After you setup your desktop audio defaults and restart voicemeter it'll just show up right there because that's where all the audio playing on your pc will output to.

The B1 - B3 isn't working, I have it set as my default like you said for recording but when i click them so they can play into my mic it doesn't work, for ref I'm using windows 11 so idk..
You need to set voicemeter as your default audio device and recording device, after that verify that by playing music on your pc, if you see the levels moving you did it right if you don't you didn't do it right, then worry about adding your headset then mic. I'd say set it up exactly how I have it then tweak it for your setup.

Since you are playing music through the same voice channel as your mic all you have to do is go into game chat and play the music. Just mute yourself in discord. Or setup another channel like b2 and use that as your default in game mic and play music through that one only. It's way easier to just not be in discord or mute ur mic.
if you turn on noise suppression to krisp and echo cancelation it should solve the problem.. worked for me

I'm mosty confused about sample frequency setup and bit depth. If I play a file with 192kHz sample rate, will voicemeeter downsample it to 48kHz? Second, I don't know how to bypass or reset the virtual input EQ/balance dials - is it possible? it is literally impossible to tell if they are in neutral. I use banana - maybe upgrade to potato would help?
You can reset your setting on voicemeter and that will reset the eq stuff to the defaults, you can check the system setting for voice meter to see change the output
When I setup VM potato so that "voicemeeter VAIO" set as the default playback device and "voicemeeter aux VAIO" is the default communication device, then no matter if I use WDM or MME, I get Crackling when audio of any source is played. I switch to "voicemeeter VAIO" set as both default playback and default communication device, then everything is smooth and pure and the crackling disappears.

There's a setting in menu called Shortcut Key (HOOK). Here you can choose for your volume keys to be bound to A1 or A2 collectively, allowing for simultaneous control.

Voicemeeter updated the program so now it looks different in the settings so everything that I showed is correct but you have to find which one correlates to which one I was talking about and I haven't done that quite yet but once I do then I'll make a video

Im trying to set up my voice meeter to play music through my mic but i only have a minimized version of it, missing the rest of those input/output tabs. all i have is Stereo input 1, Stereo input 2, Virtual input and hardware out. and for some reason the hardware out tab doesnt recognize my headset as a headset, it recognizes my monitor as my headset.
Since you are using the regular version of voicemeeter you can put your mic in Hardware input 1, put your headphones in Hardware out A1( if it's not showing up restart your computer and it should show up) then you can move spotify into your virtual input so you can control it separately it will be called something different than vio3 in my video but if you click around and try a few things you''ll get it.

After downloading Voicemeeter Potato, I received all audio drivers except for two. I'm missing an AUX Output device and a Voicemeeter Output device, but I have those devices for the Input side. How can I get these two output drivers? I'm stuck trying to get those; I've been reinstalling and installing Voicemeeter Potato multiple times and still get the same issue when uninstalling everything related to Voicemeeter.
After you install it, restart your pc and other sound options in windows sound should be there
@@shakultra Yeah, I reinstalled it and rebooted my system, but I still don't have them. I have the ones that say Voicemeeter Out A1 from Voicemeeter Out B2, but I don't have AUX or Voicemeeter Output for my recording side. The thing is, I did have Voicemeeter Banana, and everything was working fine until I wanted to switch over to the Potato version.
Im not sure why you aren't getting the other options in your recording tab
Maybe install hibit Uninstaller then uninstall vm then install vm using installation monitoring then uninstall it, then install it again to see if it changes. But that's a long shot

g'day it'd be amazing for a tutorial on win11 as there's almost none, and for me most sounds and things aren't the same name, like "Hardware input" and "stereo input", aswell as a proper way to install it, and how to move a certain app like youtube/spotify to vaio3, which isn't under "app volume and device preferences" in windows 10, but in "volume mixer" and you need to click it to see the input/output device

Can't set sample rate 44100" issue fix Open voicemeeter click menu, system settings, and on the right side of that window you will see " Preferred SampleRate:" click the box to the right of it and set it at 44100 and the issue will be fixed

Can someone help me? I tried this tutorial, and it worked for me, but my desktop audio stutters while my mic audio is perfectly fine when I play music through this virtual B1 cable. AIMP player, RUclips in browser, videos from my desktop... They all stutter. Some of them didn't tho, I have no idea how it works. Is this a Discord issue or smth? I even tried those audiodg.exe fixes as well, it's all the same. Disabling noise suppression from Krisp did nothing either. I'm desperate
Try restarting your pc, if that doesent work try using wdm or the other option, or try using less hz in the vm settings

You should use obs and just split up your different sound sources that you want to record and then just record it with obs

@shakultra the only problem i had was that my game sound even played trough my mic so then the players inside the game could hear my game sounds with the music i played. So i deleted it cause they weren't to happy.

My computer doesn’t show Voicemeeter output in the recording part of the sound settings. It Shows Voicemeeter Out A1 - A5 and Voicemeeter Out B1 - B3.
I need to make an update video but those inputs and outputs, some correspond to the ones I showed but you have to do trial and error to figure it out I'm not sure which they are since the voicemeeter creators made the update
How do you display what programs are chosen? Like on your "desktop"-audio it says: Steam, Spotify etc.. Or is that only on VM potato?
Where it has that text, click it, and it will be highlighted and you can change it to whatever you want

How do you get the options for steam/discord/nvidia? I follow all of the instructions and I've got everything from my desktop streaming to my mic and I have no option to select what I want streaming to my mic. Everyone gets an echo of what I hear.

I'm not sure how voice mod works but most likely you would just set up voice meter as your default device and then you would get voice mod and just set up voice mod to use your default device which would be voicemeeter not like your regular microphone

@@shakultra my discord audio cuts out sometimes when i try to play a song throughout the song randomly, my noise supression is off, input sensitivity is lowest possible, and I ticked off when i speak box, do you have any idea why? I'm also using voicemeeter banana.

You could click the menu button in voicemeeter and click restart. Or on minihost you could turn the bitrate to 2k instead of 4k.

When I turn on B1, then play something for my friends to hear in discord, they hear it, but also hear an echo of themselves. Gonna need some help with this. I also can't hear videos in discord, but I can hear my youtube and spotify.
In discord voice settings under attenuation make sure the "when I speak" box is turned off. And the slider above it is set to zero all the way to the left. Also put noise suppression on standard or none

@@shakultra I did both of these, still didn't fix my problem where when I have B1 selected to play something through my mic over discord, my friends hear an echo of themselves
You are doing something wrong in your process . When you move spotify to vio3. Look at your microphone input all the way to the left and it should be going to b1 and in the 3rd slot where spotify is make sure b1 is highlighted too.
Then go and check your discord settings.
@@shakultra ok, my problem is: when I select B1 on desktop audio/vaio (not spotify/vaio3) to let my friends hear a youtube video, they also hear themselves because discord is included in the desktop audio. sorry I've been wording it so poorly
You didn't do the setup like I did in the beginning because your friends are supposed to be routing through the chat channel to the right of the desktop channel and you should have A1 selected on the chat channel so you hear them through your headphones so they are not being played through the desktop audio channel. Then you can click b1 on the desktop and your music will be routed through your mic channel and they won't hear themselves.
If they still do then you need to make sure you initially setup voicemeter as your defaults like I did and then go into discord and make sure your audio devices are default in discord and make sure the settings I told you a few comments ago are good too.
Also if you go to 2:20 in that other bid and make it so spotify is in another channel then all you would have to do is make sure b1 is only highlighted on the 3rd channel and your mic channel
