As a 17 year old, who is reading the HDM series and just getting to the subtle knife, I think it’s brilliantly written. Something just stands out about it to me. I love the characters and absolutely adore the concept of dæmons. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. This is my first time seeing your channel and you seem fun! Love from a fellow Aussie! 💖

As a child growing up in the UK, Enid Blyton's books, and especially The Famous Five were a must-read in our household. At a recent visit to a local thrift store, here in Canada I found a 1970's paperback of Five Go Down To The Sea (Book 12) with the same cover we once had. Nostalgia kicked in, and it had to come home!
I haven't read Billy's biography, but we have watched all his "world tour" videos where the series follows Billy travelling around the country meeting people and inserting segments from his comedy shows. He even did one about you fine blokes down under.
Congratulations on the 1000+ subscribers. Thoroughly deserved , and your channel is a great "hang-out"!

Thanks Scottie! I used to love watching the naff 1978 tv series. And I never got round to reading the entire series. So I’m rectifying that. (Although I did read all of Secret Seven)

I love Robin Hobb. I just finished "Assassin's Apprentice" and I think I have found my favorite fantasy author. :)

Congratulations on 1000 subs! Well deserved indeed. Liveship is an all time favourite for me so I’m very intrigued to see how you get on. I never read Mostly Harmless! Whenever I get to rereading the series I will check it out for sure.

@@NevsBookChannel I certainly have! It's one of the best. I do think Liveship is my favourite sub series within the series as a whole though.

I've only read two of those books so far, but I do have Warlock and Billy in my rather lengthy TBR. I enjoyed all the books in His Dark Materials, without really having a favourite. I did enjoy Mostly Harmless but thought it was an anti-climax. Just as well the Douglas Adams Estate commissioned Eoin Colfer to write ...And Another Thing, which is the sixth book in the trilogy. It is very much in the style of Douglas Adams and a very enjoyable read.

Oh, that’s good to know. I have it on my bookshelf ready to read and I’ve only heard middling to negative reviews of it

At age 18 i read Crime and Punishment... I was working at a boat dock and pumping fuel into boats that stopped before going out on the Lake. I would have 5 minutes to 10 minutes in between boats and sometimes 30 minutes of down time. Perfect job for reading 4 hours per day when working 8 to 10 hour shifts. I was on a Russian history reading kick and added Crime and Punishment to my backpack. I have 1 copy of it now. I will read a 2nd time soon.

Forgot.... at that time I would have gave the book a 9.5 out of 10. It was one of my favorite books. That Summer I also read Alex Haley's Roots... the history of a Slave getting caught in Africa and the long Boat ride across the Atlantic Ocean. Then being Sold and being property of a another human. I think Roots is 800 or 900 pages... maybe even a bit longer. I enjoyed that book also.

Ah to have that much reading time - sounds great! My feelings on Crime and Punishment are mixed but ultimately I enjoyed it

@@NevsBookChannel it was a great job for reading. Some weeks I worked 60 hours but so much time in between boats. Listen to the radio or read. On most days I read.
