- Matt Mercer of the Black Hat Bushcraft Channel walks you through a variety resources the the new Pathfinder 10 and 20 Liter dry bags offer. Dry bags are useful far beyond "just protecting my gear from rain/wet conditions". From water collection, to use as a flotation device, the dry bag is one of the most versatile pieces of gear you can carry in your kit, or...carry your kit in.

Dry bags were well explained Matt.
Thank you Cliff!
I just spent >$100 on drybags cause of a sale. I had no idea they had so many other purposes. Thank you for your content. Armed with this knowledge, my camping will be sooooo much better. Thank you!
Sold, take my money! I'm definitely adding these to my gear pile!
Many of these ideas could be performed by my current dry bags, yet the NEW ones are SO buff! The straps put this set into orbit with uses!
Those dry bags look like excellent additions to one's gear. Thanks for sharing.
So many uses I didn't think of.great vid man.
Really cool product. I've been using pathfinder products for quite a few years. None has ever let me down. Thank you Dave and everyone at self reliance outfitters for offering great gear!
Great review...I just bought the 20L bag! The pillow and floatation device ideas are something I wasn’t even thinking about, thanks for all the great uses and ideas!
Great review of the product. I already have one of the previous 10l bags from SRO that I have been very happy with and I just ordered the 20L version today. That backpack strap addition is going to really nice to test out. Thanks Matt and everybody over at SRO.
A few things I haven't thought of . Thanks !
I always enjoy your presentations, Matt.
I needed these tips. Thank You 👍
I have one of there older Pathfinder Drybags Pre-Straps, Like the new ones lot, also you had a lot ideas for uses like the pillow and flotation I had not thought about. thumbs up
Thanks Matt!
Dry bags are very useful. I have been using a GI dry bag for many years. It has saved my gear several times.
Just purchased the combo! 3 dry bags for that price is awesome Dave! I even have the giant 30L woodland camo bag as well
Always great products. Excellent display and demos Matt. cheers brother!
Thank you so much brother! Most appreciated!
Very nice piece of gear!!! I may have to get a set of those.
Great video Matt, I can attest to all these uses of the dry bag. Used the old original 30 liter to collect water off my tarp during a rain storm at the Coastal Survival Class a few years back and also used one as a flotation device for a water crossing at one of the old SAN shoots.
Thank you brother! I appreciate that. I have been using the camo ones for years and they are still going strong. Dry bags are truly a multifunctional piece of gear.
I bought both of them. Great review. Gracias
Great info!
Thank you
I’d love to see SRO make this dry bag in a 115 liter or even 120 liter size like Seal Line & MEC. I’d buy it.
Great stuff, Matt!
Thank you Rob!
Nice dry bags... Good job Master Matt
Thank you brother!
You can use one for a trail "clothes washer" as well. I like the backpack feature on the SRO model.
That is a fantastic idea!
I'd love one of those!!
Matt,great info!!
Thank you so much Kevin!
Hi Matt, nice job on the presentation ... very informative. God Bless
Thank you so much Roberto! God bless you and yours brother!
Outstanding Matt. Enjoyed your video. Gonna have to get me at least the 10 ltr. bag... should be lots of uses for it. Thanks for the information...Bobby

Good Video. 👍
Something I’ve been doing with my 20L is using it to keep my sleeping bag dry on the back of my Savotta pack in wet weather camping. It doesn’t seem to be much bulkier or heavier than a thick wool blanket. It also adds great multi-functionality around camp, especially for stowage at night.
Good video Matt, I've been using dry bags for years and they should always be considered as a viable bag option, especially when they come with shoulder straps.
Here is another good use for dry bags:
I attach them (heavy duty bags) to my front and rear bicycle racks to keep my gear dry and organized, especially when I'm bikepacking for multiple days!
Thank you so much my friend!
Thanks
Good looking dry bags and not badly priced infact good deals actually
Good stuff Matt....well done.. I went ahead and ordered a 20L..
Thank you so much Matt!
Good stuff!
I really like the 20 liter bag.
Seems like a great product! Once I have money again I’ll have to look into it🙃
I wish i found this earlier this summer... I bought a 30 liter dry bag/backpack. However i like the 10 liter, thought the same idea about the bear bag while backpacking
Cool. I added a 10&20L to my 45L pack so now I have plenty of long term survival in case I need to get somewhere else.
I have several of the old camouflage Pathfinder dry bags.
To my embarrassment on several occasions my canoe has become completely swamped by waves in storms. The 20 litre dry bag, once emptied, has done sterling service to quickly bail the water back out of the canoe.
Unfortunately it now has a leak which I must find and patch.
Good job. Good video. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
I own both those bags and love them. I wish a 30L was offered like that 20L. I own a 115L Seal Line that is back pack style, but that's too big. That 20L is damn near perfect. Just wanna be able to include a winter load out sleeping bag in it.
Awesome video. Another food use could be for cold foods. If you want to bring eggs, milk, meats or other perishables, put ice in with the cold items to keep them cold, especially in warm to hot weather. Stay safe and be well. Thanks for sharing.
Love the dry bags, but as you mentioned, i use one as a bear bag, and really wish there was a blaze orange option. Sometimes i forget exactly what tree i used, and it takes a few minutes to find my bag. Lol. Taken to tying an orange bandana on it when i hang it.
I think youtube automatically gives a thumbs down to every video because many times I get there first with no views and there's already a thumbs down. Their algorithm sucks.
Excellent Video As Always. 💯👍👍😎🌞🇺🇸👈
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! Maybe it's my accent? 😂
really like the fact the 20 can be used as a backpack. would be great if it came in hunter orange too. having a high vis color like hunter orange would add to the utility of this product in my opinion.
Duct Tape!
Ordered 1 of each
I got a bag like that for carrying my scuba gear
If I were to be dropped off at night on a foreign shore I could cary my dry clothes to change into for infiltration after I clear the beach.
Geeze... I could use one I own to do this. BUT, they are sooooo sweet! LOL Especially the straps!
Thanks for the great information.
Would dry bags also be useful for collecting tinder? Or would it collect moisture from the tinder and make all of it damp. I live in South Carolina and the humidity matches the high temperatures on some days in the summer.
Thanks for posting this! I’ve been looking into buying some dry bags to keep my kit dry in my 3 day assault pack that I bought for bushcraft and camping trips. I’m not in the military. I just like that style of pack due to the quality, space and durability. I’m just wondering, would a 10 L bag fit an extra pair of 32”,32” pants in them? I think my other spare clothing I can roll tight enough to fit. I’m mainly not sure about the spare pants.
What shirt is that? Thanks for the great products
Looks like some good stuff. Just a tip, don’t ever throw your bag over a limb, get a rock or something that doesn’t matter if you get it stuck in a tree and tie that to your throw line. Nothing like trying to yank your food bag off a catch point and ripping your bag open. Like the 20 liter size.
Seems like an excellent, versatile product no doubt. Thinking may be just the thing to carry my video and/or trail-cam gear to and from the stand. However, my first thought when you put on the 20 as a pack, great idea btw, was how the buckles appeared to be right where the weight would deliver the most pain, or very close to there. Seems to me even on a short hike, like the ones you mentioned, may be some discomfort. In addition, wearing it while kayaking samey-samey. I can't get past that for my purpose. Am I missing something?
👍👍👍
Just ordered a 20L. It’s got backpack straps. What was I suppose to do? Gotta have it.
👍
Yeah, dry bags are versatile.
Would these bags be suitable to fill with water and a bit of soap and use for laundry? In other words, would they hold water?
Where are they made?
Do you think a queen size wool blanket can roll up in the 10 liter bag
I believe it would most likely be too tight. Especially if it is a thicker, lofty wool blanket.
Made where?
Matt… today. I used the 5L dried bag and went inside the beach with it… and water got inside…my wallet, iphone 12promax, and my first aid bag got wet…🥺

maybe to warm up water under the sun for a shower?
They are "Excellent" bags.
You're supposed to buckle them the opposite way you've folded down the bag.
Should have turned it insideout before dipping it into the river. Just saying
What is the point of putting a waterproff tarp in a waterprooof backpack? 🤦♂️
