Don't know if it's been mentioned but you can use exorcism, hand of reckoning (which does damage if u cast immediately as you use exorcism), followed by an avengers shield straight after as the taunt doesn't use a gcd. That's my go-to opener for a good head start on threat 👌 I've seen this macro'd but I'm lazy.

His reasoning is that strength = threat, and higher threat means DPS can go off more unrestricted, as well as strength increasing block value. My plan is to main Holy, but I wouldn't mind learning, and running as a tank once in a while either. But, as someone who is really competitive, I can't stand the idea of being the cause of failure for my team. Are there any merits to what I was told? or should I stick with the stam strat that I am familiar with?
Reckoning is great for threat, yes, but I don’t agree with stacking Strength! I would stick to Stamina because usually tanks won’t have threat issues and ultimately you’re there to soak hits and because there’s now diminishing returns on avoidances, you can get hit more frequently so the only true survival you have besides being crit capped through Defense is through your Stamina if that makes sense?
@@jcbattistoni any amount of hp above 1 is useless, if you're confident that you won't die then go for as much threat as possible but with ulduar you will probably die so go stamina until you're really geared then you might be able to go a mix of str/stam
improved devo is usually specced into by hpala's so its kinda of a waste of talent points.. might want to pick it up if ur in a raid with no hpalas though.
Late comment, but a holy paladin is usually gonna have the concentration aura or the elemental resist aura for aura mastery. Even if they're specced in you won't benefit by it. It's 3 points and you get benefits. Also Armor is way more important later on especially icc so the 1% ish you get from the talent counts
reckoning is way better IMO, i have a 3900gs prot pala and MT for my guild, the devotion aura isnt gonna make or break a raid, at 1205 armor w/o the buff its 1% extra dmg mitigation, so with +50% to devo armor thats only around 1.5% dmg mitigation to physical dmg. the 6% healing is kinda whatever too. for every 1000 hp on a heal, youre netting +60 healing added. so a 2400 heal is doing 2544 heal. those numbers are so small, thats not going to make or break a raid either. i think killing something 0.5% faster is better than 2% survivability personally. i literally never run devo, its 100% uptime on ret aura unless i have a ret paladin w/ me already running it. ret aura gives more threat because youre constnatly pumping extra dmg on top of your consecration with everything on you. pretty much only warlocks will steal from me when they hit the 2nd round of all their cooldowns and start exploding, occasionally a geared boomie will but thats usually on trash when they over cleave before i can gather packs. reckoning, on the other hand, gives more threat and damage. when you have pumpers you want to also pump as much threat as possible to save your taunt for things that off leash or extra adds/mechanics on certain boss fights. example, in Naxx 10m ill save my shield throw and taunt for adds and taunt one, shield throw the other to bring everything to me then hammer them and let my dps start cleaving. another tip, if youre doing a boss fight that has a mechanic where it targets someone else no matter what for a spell or anything, pop your taunt even if you maintain threat and its going to go right back to you after it casts the spell. if the boss is not actively targetting you, it will do the dmg from the taunt skill to it still. save your "big" taunt (the one that will leash 3 adds to you) and use that as a normal one, usually you should be able to hold it all.
^^ 100% my thought process. changed to this the last 2 weeks as our other tanks were out on vacation. MT'd the world tour and did great! kept my locks down too lol
Cool video man a lot of info I can benefit from, but a few notes. I personally use Reck over devotion aura because i find its not so easy to maintain agro sometimes with BIS geared dps as im still in blues from just dinging 80 , and the reck offers some extra dmg and threat. Also I was using seal of righteousness when single target tanking cause i wasnt aware of the glyph for seal of vengeance and I was getting 5 points in holy for the extra dmg on my seals. Im not sure if its worth it to ditch the seal cause ive noticed the extra dps does help me maintain agro better than the seal of vengeance was. @@itsego_tv yeah. When you get those stacks of vengeance up your consecration and hammer of rights are insane aoe. However command is more bursty.

Those are the best yes but you're right you get no mats. Personally I'd go Engineering and Mining if you're looking for a gathering profession.

I used to have mana issues, then I found out about divine plea.
you can also try using blessing of sanctuary that makes a huge difference

10% judgment damage is bad, go for 4 targets for hammer
