It’s in the style of the beastie boys but the cadences of some of flows are more modern. Ren went years misdiagnosed with depression bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome they had him on meds that caused him to have psychosis and he got PTSD but not from the meds he had a recording deal with Sony in 2010 why working on his album he got really sick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he moved back to Wales he would get so sick he became bedridden for up to 23 hours a day he had chronic pain all over his body it would take years before he got right diagnosis of Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he has had stem cell therapy done he in Canada right now getting treatment done he has to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 times a day he can only eat 2 kinds of beef and few Vegetables because the autoimmune causes his body to have allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he has ADHD

“What You Want” is a Beastie Boys tribute. He always has that 90’s feel, regardless of the style or genre he puts out. Always different, but familiar because of his throwbacks. “Money Game” pts 1,2,and 3 are great examples of him “teach over beats”! Definitely worth exploring all of @RenMakesMusic #Ren that you can!
Hoping you check out more of Ren's stuff, he's got some great intricate Raps, but he also does a lot of other genres too (in fact he mixes a lot into individual songs) A crazy, talented artist, def worth exploring his catalogue 👍🏻 In this particular tune, I like it when he uses pure alliteration in the part where he goes into the first double/triple time flow (every word beginning with a 'T'). p.s. Ren never claims on any reactors using his videos either, so if you get any just appeal them (there are some fake claimants trying it on at times. One of his fans can prob get you contact details for his team who sort that stuff out, if you any problems with the process)
I agree with the suggestions below - "What you want" is definitely the next stop if you like old school. "Power" is great too, but definitely recommend "Hi Ren" to get an idea of the full range of his talent (bearing in mind that's just the tip of the iceberg. As a DIY guy you'll probably enjoy listening to some of his interviews too. As others have mentioned, he also plays guitar, keyboards, produces his own music and videos (if you get to the Money Game series, in part 3 he wrote the score for a string quartet), he beatboxes, does live street performances recording through iPhones, etc. Really a once-in-a-generation artist (and I was around for Pink Floyd and Queen so I know the vibe of that kind of talent well).
His lyrics range from the very personal regarding his years of illness, his exploration of different philosophy’s when medicine seemed to be failing him, and his outlook on how we must care for ourselves, each other and our Earth. Many reactors start with Hi Ren, which isn’t rap or rock or any one thing. It’s a 9 minute art performance about the internal struggles and doubts he, and most of us, go through trying to make something of ourselves.
Love this as a person who never cared for rap! Ren is a mastet of musical rap and many other genres. Every song has a different feel and it is all good. Tobelrone is my favorite word and an insife joke among fans! ❤ i truly hope you react to more Ren. He us magical. Wicked ways is a new release and Seven Sins is my personal favorite. But Hi Ren is the heart opening begining to experiemce. Trust me on this. I'm subbing in hope of more.

Hoping you check out more of Ren's stuff, he's got some great intricate Raps, but he also does a lot of other genres too (in fact he mixes a lot into individual songs) A crazy, talented artist, def worth exploring his catalogue 👍🏻
In this particular tune, I like it when he uses pure alliteration in the part where he goes into the first double/triple time flow (every word beginning with a 'T').
p.s. Ren never claims on any reactors using his videos either, so if you get any just appeal them (there are some fake claimants trying it on at times. One of his fans can prob get you contact details for his team who sort that stuff out, if you any problems with the process)
I agree with the suggestions below - "What you want" is definitely the next stop if you like old school. "Power" is great too, but definitely recommend "Hi Ren" to get an idea of the full range of his talent (bearing in mind that's just the tip of the iceberg. As a DIY guy you'll probably enjoy listening to some of his interviews too. As others have mentioned, he also plays guitar, keyboards, produces his own music and videos (if you get to the Money Game series, in part 3 he wrote the score for a string quartet), he beatboxes, does live street performances recording through iPhones, etc. Really a once-in-a-generation artist (and I was around for Pink Floyd and Queen so I know the vibe of that kind of talent well).
His lyrics range from the very personal regarding his years of illness, his exploration of different philosophy’s when medicine seemed to be failing him, and his outlook on how we must care for ourselves, each other and our Earth.
Many reactors start with Hi Ren, which isn’t rap or rock or any one thing. It’s a 9 minute art performance about the internal struggles and doubts he, and most of us, go through trying to make something of ourselves.

Love this as a person who never cared for rap! Ren is a mastet of musical rap and many other genres. Every song has a different feel and it is all good.
Tobelrone is my favorite word and an insife joke among fans! ❤ i truly hope you react to more Ren. He us magical. Wicked ways is a new release and Seven Sins is my personal favorite. But Hi Ren is the heart opening begining to experiemce. Trust me on this. I'm subbing in hope of more.

Do not stop there with this man's talent. Read the comments below, they speak for themself! I would HIGHLY suggest Genesis, Wicked Ways, Seven Sins.....and well there is a lot more and he delivers all the time, no matter the genre he performs. There is a lot more going on here than just music...every single reaction video there is a common theme: No matter who you are in this world, no matter your story, this guy's music hits home on some level with everyone.
In a Ren interview he explains that his dynamic flow technique stems from his early experiences with beatboxing. Pretty damn impressive how far he's taken it.
On top of, yanno, every *other* goddamn over-the-top-tier talent he's developed.

Welcome to the Renaissance! Ren is my favourite artist of all time. I say artist because he is a multifaceted diamond! From singing (all styles) to rapping (bars/flows/schemes for days), Bardcore (story telling) beatbox, makes his own beats, scatting and a multi instrumentalist (guitars, bass, drums, melodica and more). On top of that he is the most beautiful human being inside and out who has been through and continues to go through absolute hell.
He’s 33 from Anglesey, Wales originally but spent most his life in Brighton, England. He’s been living in Calgary, Canada all year receiving intense medical treatment for his brain damage and mast cell activation disorder amongst other things.
He started off making beats at 12 and selling CDs then moved on to busking. He was part of a band called Trick The Fox and was signed to Sony but they didn’t renew the contract after his health deteriorated. He then started The Big Push. They went on hiatus the end of last year after 5 years partly due to his move to Canada and also because the other members are also soloists and were moving around too.

Don’t think you will be disappointed! ‘Hi Ren’ was the one that really blew him up and tells a story of his struggles, ‘What You Want’ is paying homage to Beastie Boys etc, and for his singing ability try his band The Big Push doing the I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop live mash-up (its on the bands page). I love Ren, but PROF is one of my favorite artists right under him. He is unique and different. He can rap quick, especially if he wants to. Ren and Prof have talked about collaborating together, I would love to see them together. Hopefully sometime in the new yr.
