  • This is the first song with the Kawai K4r. It's a 16-voices, 8-part multitimbral 16-Bit PCM digital synthesizer. This time the song is quite minimal, like a repeating chant. So, just lay back and relax when you listen the song ;-)
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Kawai K4r - EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated
The signal goes via a small Behringer mixer straight into the pc.
To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with just a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.
Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)

Kawai was always the underdog but they made brilliant synthesizers . I owned the Spectra , K1 , K4 , K5 , K5000 years ago.

This is proof that even a module with questionable dated patches can sound incredible with the right mind and creative choices behind it. Excellent work!

Your Track is great!! Nice atmosphere, very relaxed. 😎
I still have my K4. I bought it when it came out in 1989. It’s a fantastic Synthesizer. I love the Keyboard-Version for the polyphonic aftertouch.
    Thanks for the Upload!

Nice work! Hypnotic... I started listening, and suddenly it's seven minutes later. The K4r is a special machine.

Well, as a former owner of K4 synth, I must say that I am not surprised by depth and ambience you've appearantly managed to achieve. Keyboard version has effect unit integrated and sounds well too, but with equipment you have mentioned in description on your album this is far better work in production sense. And, as someone mentioned in comments, right mind and creative choices must result in good and quality product. Congrats, man!

Hi. Just one sound but ONE HELL OF A GOOD ONE, I was playing your melody on my Roland FP-10 piano with reverb and it stayed in my head for a long time, love this piece ! I used the Kawai K1 in the 90’s in someone’s studio.

Brilliant composition, love the depth and spaciousness of this track. Well done! The K4 is to me more difficult to programme compared to the K3m.

@@christianssonicspaces494 Good choice composition for this classic K4/r synth. I had at one point 4x (!) 'boards + the K4r rack, now down to 2x K4's & rack (!) Love it! Got loads of cards too, although can of course just drop the MIDI SysEx files in off the Kawai legacy site / 3rd parties. P.S. actually also got the K1 Mk.II in garage, totally forgot about that one!!!!, must did her out ... and check battery :/ ? 😎👍🎹🎵🍻

Is that reverb built in? I kinda think not

Of course not! It's a GFI System Specular Reverb 2, as mentioned in the video description. There you can find the details on the song generation ;-)
