  • This is the third song with the Waldorf Blofeld. It's a table-top 25-voice polyphonic, 16-part multitimbral, digital synthesizer capable of wavetable synthesis and analogue modelling.
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Waldorf Blofeld - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2 - Alesis 3630 - Elektron Analog Heat
The signal goes via a small Behringer mixer straight into the pc.
To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with just a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.
Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)

I love my Blofeld. I purchased some of the sound banks from Waldorf’s website along with the SL license. And there are lots of ambient FX and pads. Sounds amazing. I have one encoder that is not working 100%. But I’ll never sell it.

Buy replacement encoder on ebay and replace it yourself or pay somebody $15 to solder it for you. Very easy.

You might want to know that Stereoping has made a controller which you can use to easily modulate the Blofield. It is called the Q Feld, because you can also use it to control the Waldorf Q. In fact this controller can be used for a lot more synthesizers, like the Miniak you show in another video. But that means you have to update the firmware to make it work for that one. And there are editions for many more synths. I am definitely going to buy one from their shop. Not from Ebay, because that is from an American shop which sells the exact same product for a lot more money. Btw I am Dutch, so I won't buy a German product from an American shop and pay more for shipping and taxes to get it back into Europe.

For that price I would probably just buy a new one (Blofeld) or just get them fixed?
      Maybe not..

Actually all you need is a Blofeld and a polyphonic real analogue synth

Good synth however it's plagued by the encoders problem. Had to replace some encoders and probably I'll have to replace them all in the end...

Very god ambient song....Waldorf Blofeld is problematic modul but sounds is very original and exscelent, clear with space for next other instrument.

Funny I’ve never had any problems with mine. I use iPad editor , which makes this little synth a true beast.
