I studied Plato in my degree and the idea of a disembodied truth is the Greek idea of the ideal: that reality is removed from us, and that what we see are just shadows of a non material reality. The Hebrew idea of humanity is the concrete mixture of mud and the breath of God, the life that the Lord breathed life into the mud figure so that it became a living soul/ body.

I've recently learned this too! Hebrew is a verb, something that you do. Greek is a philosophy something that you feel or think. Jesus, Paul, John were all trying to explain to us Hebrew ways of DOING things. Paul and John were trying to convey these ACTION Verbs with Greek thoughts. Unfortunately, today, our language also "thinks" the way of the Greeks, so BELIEVE has been reduced to "a belief" and not something that you live out and DO such as "aman" in Hebrew. Thumbs up!

That’s why we misinterpret Paul in Romans as him (as a follower of Christ) not doing what he wants to do and struggling with wanting to do the will of God but not being able to when in reality, if you look at the full letter as a whole, Paul is talking about his struggle when he was a pharisee and how he wanted to do the will of God but couldn’t (because we were slaves to sin in our old life) but now we are free to do the will of God and don’t have to answer to sin! We can truly act on what we believe!

So basically the body and the spirit/soul are only one but sin that lives in us is another that brings basically the same result no? Would you please explain how are the two different? I agree with you about baptism. In Acts baptism immediately follows conviction and coming back to the Father (we are washed like the prodigal son straight away and then given covering, sonship, and authority (robe, shoes and the ring).

What about 1 Kor. 11 about head covering : Paul say a woman should have her head covered as because of the angles, so she is under authority. So it is also a physical sign of something spiritual? Paul was speaking specifically to the women of Cirinth... Their culture wirshipped a god called the Pythia.. Only had women priests, whowere mediums.. Went into a trance & brought a "prophecy" from the "deity" for the initiate... Men were totally emasculated in so many ways... Men had never been respected, but lived by superstition & fear.. Men had not learnt to "cover" women spiritually. There was no concept of husbands, fathers... The Father-heart of God, in their culture.... So Paul had to start by silencing & greatly humbling the wonen, in a spiritual/ church meeting context... To re-teach them what is Biblically a man & a woman... Never take a text out of its iriginal context!!!! Paul is addressing the people of Corinth, not you! We have to learn from that context, & what Paul was aiming at achieving in the conduct of men & women...

Well said. Half of christians fulfill christian duties to feel closer to God but the heart is in the wrong place that why many people are walking in the wrong calling. Man sees the outside but God sees what’s hidden inside. That’s why Jesus said that many people clean the outside of the cup but the inside is dirty, He wants us to clean the inside and by default the outside will be clean. Our motives, intentions, are they pure? Or is it just a religious selfish gain type a thing I think about this all the time when it comes to Godly things. All that to say that when I meditate the word I put it into action when the time comes. From what I’ve learned God is all about timing when the time is right it’s action time.

Yes, amen to this teaching! The Church has been invaded by Greco-Roman Philosophy and Paganism. The Apostles Teaching, particularly Paul's, warns us against this time and time again. That's why there's no theological division between Romans and James, or should I say Jacob (because the Church titled his Epistles with the Greek version of name). Yes, it's what we do that proves our faith. The Reformation is guilty of defining actions of Faith as works and made obedience a dirty word. We don't perform works to earn our salvation, but perform our works because of our salvation. This is where the term "faith alone" is theologically incorrect. In Christ Jesus alone, yes, but by faith and works in harmony in proving our faith. In Judaism, they perform the 613 laws of the Torah, but they have no way of defeating the law of Sin and Death (This is what Paul was debating in Romans). That's why the shed blood of Christ Jesus, His death, and resurrection are so powerful because we have to spiritually and physically die with Him and rise with Him in Baptism. That action in faith with repentance is being born again, not saying a prayer. When the Jews have the Passover, they are remembering and celebrating what took place in Egypt and at the Red Sea, and when we take the bread and drink the cup, we are remembering and celebrating what Jesus did on the Cross and what we do when we are baptised into Jesus Christ. It all makes sense, and it feels like it's taken all my life to come to this place. This teaching is so liberating and amazing. Church tradition doesn't save us, but obedience to the commandments of Jesus Christ and the Apostles' teaching proves our Salvation in Him. Amen!!! 🙏
You are right to say: we need to believe and practice what we belief. Jesus was angry at the Pharisees. Why? Because they said they believe but they didn’t practice what they believed and Jesus call them hypocrites. So, the fact to believe in the head and not practice was not a Greek mindset but also a Jewish mindset. You quoted the letter from James: James wrote to the Jews who believe in Jesus and they also said they believe but they didn’t do what they said. Babies can get circumcised but they can’t get baptized? The Orthodox Church already teaches baptism is part of salvation. I don’t think we need to reinvent the wheel, which is why I will be joining the Lord’s brothers as soon as I can, Lord willing.

The new covenant is individual because it includid forgivness of sins after a personal choice of faith and repentance, as judgement is individual. I live in a orthodox country and i see first hand the devastating effect that baby baptism has. It is a sinful nation that brags to be Christian. Children of believers should be trained up in the teachings of the Lord, but than they must choose whom they serve.

Hello Torben, I need your advice. I have been a Christian for about 13 years. Every once in a while I have felt tormented during worship. This has been going on for the whole 13 years. I think I have company. I can't get anyone who can help me. Any advice?
I'm also experiencing tormenting thoughts about dying and going to hell, fear and anxiety, I don't even feel like myself to smile or laugh much because of these thoughts and I can't sleep sometimes as well

YOu can start resisting the devil by fasting and praying and commending the demons to comeout in the name of Jesus. Many times it is sin that opened the door. Ask the Lord to show you how they came in so you can repent and break any agreement. If all this gives no result, pray that the Lord will show you a believer with authority to cast them out.

Hi George!! I’ve studied this question alot because I have been asked a lot . There’s 2 things for me that give me a lot of understanding. Before Jesus died and resurrected people could not be baptized (into Christs death and resurrection (Roman’s 6)) nor could they receive the Holy Spirit because Jesus promised in John that the spirit (the helper) would be sent after He ascended back to the Father. So the man on the cross with Jesus could not be baptized (because He hadn’t died and resurrected yet) nor receive the spirit because the spirit had not been sent yet to live inside the disciples (not until acts 2, after Jesus resurrected) ALSO something very interesting, if you think about how the thief died, he literally died with Christ. (Which is the purpose of our baptism).

I've recently learned this too! Hebrew is a verb, something that you do. Greek is a philosophy something that you feel or think. Jesus, Paul, John were all trying to explain to us Hebrew ways of DOING things. Paul and John were trying to convey these ACTION Verbs with Greek thoughts. Unfortunately, today, our language also "thinks" the way of the Greeks, so BELIEVE has been reduced to "a belief" and not something that you live out and DO such as "aman" in Hebrew. Thumbs up!
This makes so much sense! That’s why we misinterpret Paul in Romans as him (as a follower of Christ) not doing what he wants to do and struggling with wanting to do the will of God but not being able to when in reality, if you look at the full letter as a whole, Paul is talking about his struggle when he was a pharisee and how he wanted to do the will of God but couldn’t (because we were slaves to sin in our old life) but now we are free to do the will of God and don’t have to answer to sin! We can truly act on what we believe!

Q: Paul seemed to believe there were 2 "entities" in his body, which will not allow him to do what he wanted to do. What about 1 Kor. 11 about head covering : Paul say a woman should have her head covered as because of the angles, so she is under authority. So it is also a physical sign of something spiritual?

Paul was speaking specifically to the women of Cirinth... Their culture wirshipped a god called the Pythia.. Only had women priests, whowere mediums.. Went into a trance & brought a "prophecy" from the "deity" for the initiate... Men were totally emasculated in so many ways... Men had never been respected, but lived by superstition & fear.. Men had not learnt to "cover" women spiritually.

Well said. Half of christians fulfill christian duties to feel closer to God but the heart is in the wrong place that why many people are walking in the wrong calling. Man sees the outside but God sees what’s hidden inside. That’s why Jesus said that many people clean the outside of the cup but the inside is dirty, He wants us to clean the inside and by default the outside will be clean. Our motives, intentions, are they pure? Or is it just a religious selfish gain type a thing I think about this all the time when it comes to Godly things. All that to say that when I meditate the word I put it into action when the time comes. From what I’ve learned God is all about timing when the time is right it’s action time.
I've been waiting for this moment.
Sometimes Jesus take us out for a while out of the world so we can focus more into deeper of His Word and to see more as in a telescope.

Yes, amen to this teaching! The Church has been invaded by Greco-Roman Philosophy and Paganism. The Apostles Teaching, particularly Paul's, warns us against this time and time again. That's why there's no theological division between Romans and James, or should I say Jacob (because the Church titled his Epistles with the Greek version of name). Yes, it's what we do that proves our faith. The Reformation is guilty of defining actions of Faith as works and made obedience a dirty word. We don't perform works to earn our salvation, but perform our works because of our salvation. This is where the term "faith alone" is theologically incorrect. In Christ Jesus alone, yes, but by faith and works in harmony in proving our faith. In Judaism, they perform the 613 laws of the Torah, but they have no way of defeating the law of Sin and Death (This is what Paul was debating in Romans). That's why the shed blood of Christ Jesus, His death, and resurrection are so powerful because we have to spiritually and physically die with Him and rise with Him in Baptism. That action in faith with repentance is being born again, not saying a prayer. When the Jews have the Passover, they are remembering and celebrating what took place in Egypt and at the Red Sea, and when we take the bread and drink the cup, we are remembering and celebrating what Jesus did on the Cross and what we do when we are baptised into Jesus Christ. It all makes sense, and it feels like it's taken all my life to come to this place. This teaching is so liberating and amazing. Church tradition doesn't save us, but obedience to the commandments of Jesus Christ and the Apostles' teaching proves our Salvation in Him. Amen!!! 🙏

You are right to say: we need to believe and practice what we belief. Jesus was angry at the Pharisees. Why? Because they said they believe but they didn’t practice what they believed and Jesus call them hypocrites. So, the fact to believe in the head and not practice was not a Greek mindset but also a Jewish mindset.
You quoted the letter from James: James wrote to the Jews who believe in Jesus and they also said they believe but they didn’t do what they said. So, we see also here that every has a propension to do it so.

The new covenant is individual because it includid forgivness of sins after a personal choice of faith and repentance, as judgement is individual. I live in a orthodox country and i see first hand the devastating effect that baby baptism has. It is a sinful nation that brags to be Christian. Children of believers should be trained up in the teachings of the Lord, but than they must choose whom they serve.

Hello Torben, I need your advice. I have been a Christian for about 13 years. Every once in a while I have felt tormented during worship. This has been going on for the whole 13 years. I think I have company. I can't get anyone who can help me. Any advice?
I'm also experiencing tormenting thoughts about dying and going to hell, fear and anxiety, I don't even feel like myself to smile or laugh much because of these thoughts and I can't sleep sometimes as well

YOu can start resisting the devil by fasting and praying and commending the demons to comeout in the name of Jesus. Many times it is sin that opened the door. Ask the Lord to show you how they came in so you can repent and break any agreement. If all this gives no result, pray that the Lord will show you a believer with authority to cast them out.

The Gnostics (not all Greek thought is Gnostic) believed that material world could not have anything to do with our salvation and so they rejected the idea that Jesus had a body was made of material from our world. Hi George!! I’ve studied this question alot because I have been asked a lot . There’s 2 things for me that give me a lot of understanding.
Before Jesus died and resurrected people could not be baptized (into Christs death and resurrection (Roman’s 6)) nor could they receive the Holy Spirit because Jesus promised in John that the spirit (the helper) would be sent after He ascended back to the Father. So the man on the cross with Jesus could not be baptized (because He hadn’t died and resurrected yet) nor receive the spirit because the spirit had not been sent yet to live inside the disciples (not until acts 2, after Jesus resurrected)
ALSO something very interesting, if you think about how the thief died, he literally died with Christ. (Which is the purpose of our baptism).

there is no evidence that he was not baptized. maybe he had time before that to be baptized by the apostles. he professed his faith on the cross. died with an effusion of blood.

You sadly read into the scriptures your preconceived beliefs. No Apostle, nor the Messiah ever used the following terms or phrases to describe God or his Son. / second person of the trinity, incarnation, hypostatic union, God man, God the son, God the holy spirit, 3 in 1, triune God, double nature, etc etc. Yeshua our Master was clear in his teaching
