    Amazing leaves on the mother plant. She will pull thru I am sure of it. The keiki will be ok as the mother's roots will feed it. Sending good vibes. 💓

And that high humidity would be a dream for any grower,,,maybe not in an aparment though ;-) So you also share the leaf problem, maybe she does that as ageing OR it just have some fancier needs as she gets older. The spotting on the Saba variety is so beautiful! It is on my wish list for when I get more space. :) I have not perfected my schilleriana technique, but I have had one a year. It seems that keeping the water moving up, through, and out of the plant is the secret for long term orchid health. Even though your fans are moving a lot of air, which encourages water evaporation out of the plant, the high humidity may be counteracting the effectiveness of the fan. To my surprise, I had better orchid health when I slowly started lowering the humidity in my environment.

    • @hillbillyorchids
      @hillbillyorchids  2 года назад

      Hi Kevin 👋 yes! I see exactly what you mean. I was keeping it high because I was trying to grow Lepanthes Telipogoniflora on my shelf instead of containers like I do now. BIG MISTAKE! I lost alot of phals including my prize Sturtiana 😕 so I dropped it way down. Although my humidity is still pretty high without humidifiers. Right now example it's 79% 🤷‍♀️ but ideally 50% is best or little lower. I did find this out the hard way.
      Yes I'd recommend that Sabah but sadly I won't recommend who to get it from. 😕 it's a risk basically if you get yours where I did. Basically an expensive rootless rescue. 😑 but I wish you luck my dear. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

      @@hillbillyorchids reason,is because orchids are all indoors and my apt. Has a very old air conditioning system that cools from water in system. My humidity stays between 60’s in dry times of summer and in mid 80’s on rainy summer days. I’m also in Tampa Fl,central Fl. So the orchids stay moist. I’m always concerned they will not dry out😏
