My audition for a musical is tomorrow and i am so nervous. The play is Willy wonka and im auditioning for Mr.salt. People in my school know me as mr.salt because it has been a joke of me being Mr.salt like forever. It is my dream role (says no one ever😂) and I rlly hope I don’t blow it. It would be so disappointing, especially since the cast list comes out on my birthday. Wish me luck! The cast list hasn’t come out yet, but good news, I got a callback!!!!! The cast list came out today!! I GOT THE ROLE!! ❤❤
Last year when I auditioned for Peter Pan, I sang right hand man from something rotten, I felt like it was a perfect song because I was auditioning for Mr. Smee. It took me a little while to realise that it wasn’t really a song that I could put my emotions out there and show my capacities. So back in October of 2022 when they re-did the auditions for Peter Pan (was cancelled the year before because of covid and a lot of people had quit the show bc of uni or not wanting to do the show anymore), I decided to sing slipping through my fingers since I auditioned this time for Mrs. Darling and I kinda felt like the song went with the character and I was able to put a lot of emotions in the song, to the point where I almost cried during the first couple of seconds.
ahhh I’m trying out for Peter Pan and I want Captain Hook sooooo bad but my theater is doing two plays at once so after auditions you’ll either be assigned to Peter Pan or jungle book 😭😭😭
I am currently attempting to do this middle school audition during summer break as Wednesday! We get the roles on thursday and I am so excited. I hope I get the role and I think this helped me a lot! Thanks!
Could you make tips for confidence? It could be general or more specific, like if you’re the youngest one there but auditioning for the biggest part (not related to how talented you are) or just thinking there’s others who are better, and it could be tips on being confident emotionally (if that makes any sense), but also how to come prepared to be confident
Hey Ryan, for sure we can try to share some tips around confidence on the channel. Keep in mind, confidence is generated when you prepare at the level of your aspirations. Strong prep is how you give yourself the best chances of doing consistently high quality work and get into multiple top schools! Don't shortchange the process and don't think there's a shortcut to arriving at excellent work. I encourage you to stay focused on bringing your fullest self to your pieces and remove any worry about how talented/experienced you are. We don't know (or really control) how talented we are, but we CAN control how hard we work and the skills we develop. That will show you off well in the audition and you'll end up very happy with your results. We can talk more about where you're at with monologues and your schools list - schedule a 15min Zoom with me here - www.howtogetintodramaschool.com/freetalk
audition tapes go in tomorrow for high school musical 🙏🙏 i’m auditioning for sharpay and gabriella(everyone is auditioning for sharpay, i figured i should give gabriella a shot because less competition and her songs are good) i totally screwed myself while preparing my monologue (30sec instead 1min) but i’m back on my feet amd hopefully will not have a mental breakdown while filming the tape. wish me luck!
My audition for my school play is on Wednesday and this really helped! We’re doing the Addams Family and I’m trying out for Wednesday! I really hope I get the role because it’s my last year in this school and I want to go out with a good role. The cast list comes out on Friday! I’m so nervous!
Do you think the first 1 min and 30 seconds from Burn- Hamilton will be ok?? I’m 12 and I have my audition tomorrow to just see if I can do theatre cause it’s packed. The song we sing has to be about 1 min long that’s why I’m only doing that bit :) this helped a lot !! Edit!: the audition was today I was so nervous and I stuttered!! I’ll update if I got in in a week :)
im singing what i think to be a really character focused song (les poissons) for my next audtion, and this is so true!!! ive tried singing the song without much emotion and it really doesnt sound or look as good as it does WITH emotion. wish me luck btw!! im auditioning for lumiere in beauty and the beast 🤞
I’m auditioning for Ursula and auditions are next week and I’m doing everything I can to prepare 😅I’m really nervous and scared Update 1 after auditions: I just got back from auditions and I think I did good I think I might get the part?
So I’m kind of new to theater, but I’m told I have great range. If I were to do a song like “Still Hurting” from The Last Five Years, could I change the name from Jamie to Janis if I’m trying out for Janis?
