Email me and tell me the names of the folks who went to Juilliard. We are a pretty small network so I might know them! And keep working hard on your pieces 👍

      How To Get Into Drama School hey...do we need to actually travel to the state to audition and do the monologue or we can sent it online if we cannot travel? Like send it online and see if we are accepted

    I'm planning on applying and auditioning in 2024, but I've got no background in drama and don't really have an idea where to start with monologues

    • @Chris-wm4th
      @Chris-wm4th 4 года назад +7

      Don’t start with monologues, start with just joining a production at your local theater and doing a couple shows. You’ll know if it’s worth it. The more shows you do, the more monologues you’ll have

      You have plenty of time to gain valuable experience. Immerse yourself in environments that inspire you. The key to getting into drama school is delivering quality work and being able to take direction. Find people/artists in your area who push you and guide you. You'll grow by leaps and bounds and feel ready when your college auditions come around.

    I go to a very underfunded school that doesn't have an actual drama program, just a club. Do you have any recommendations for how I should prepare?

      Natasha Adamson Hi this is Anthony. It’s not about what school you come from, it’s about you and your hard work. As far as recommendations go, my book How To Get Into Drama School is a great place to start to give you guidance on your audition prep. Email me and I can give you the book at half off! • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  4 года назад

      Ryan Gurley yes, it’s largely the same process and advice when it comes to how to get in. Schools want quality of work, ability to take direction, and good attitude, among other things. If you have a specific question about your situation, we’d be happy to lend an ear. Email Anthony at anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com

    What would you say the talent level of everyone auditioning is?

    • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  5 лет назад +26

      Kevin Sheahan this is Anthony, Founder of How To Get Into Drama School. The talent level varies greatly among the people who audition for drama school. Every school will agree. What I told myself was...you can’t control your talent, so don’t worry about it. You can only control the quality of work you bring in so focus on bringing in the best quality work you possibly can, play full out, and that’s the mentality I had. It freed me up. And this is what we tell people as well. That attitude of hard work and passion for your pieces will get you into the perfect drama school for you.

    When you said Mercutio I got so excited! In one of my high school productions I was Mercutio. Such a fun and 3 dimensional character. Also, in my opinion, totally gay for Romeo

      Beatrice, I love your passion for the role. Glad you had a good experience with it. And appreciate your take on his relationship with Romeo. Are you auditioning for drama school soon? Would you consider Mercutio as a piece for yourself?

    • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  3 года назад +1

      Read plays (Pulitzer Prize Winners are always a good place to start) and become more familiar with plays/authors you respond to most. Also, work on as much material as you can (put scenes and monologues on their feet) to gain experience and get feedback from trusted people. Don’t hesitate to immerse yourself and create an inspiring environment. That’s going to be the fastest way to develop and prepare for your next steps!

    • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  4 года назад

      Hey there, yeah the edit just mentions the play but not the specific monologues. I’m not sure which one Amari did from Titus, but you can look up the play and find all the monologues in there. Btw, if you’re looking for monologues, it’s important to remember that it doesn’t matter what pieces Amari resonated with...it only matters what pieces YOU resonate with. If you still need the specific monologue Amari did from Titus, please email me - Anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com
