    Some great tips here. I completely agree that natural hair is as hard or as easy as you make it. 🤝 I will say, as a coily who washes at least once a week, wet detangling before shampooing is the quickest and most efficient method for me! 😃
    Your hairstyle in this vid is so lovely. ❤

      greetings & thank you for chiming in. Yes that pre shampoo detangle will simplify things every time. I’ve found coilys can push no longer than two weeks w/o detangling prior to shampooing and avoid and extended detangle session but to do it before every shampoo is even better. I think this is what some are doing when they “prepoo” ? As my hair gets longer I’ll most likely employ that detangle prior every time practice we’ll see how it unfolds. Thank you for sharing your method and for the compliment on the hair style 🌞 I just did small two strand twists and added crystal and metallic beads randomly

    Very informative! You touched on a really good point, a lot of women starting their natural hair journey set unrealistic expectations for their hair based on what they see from influencers or popular channels. Of course you’re gonna be unhappy with your hair if it’s 4c and you’re doing wash n go’s expecting the result to be 3c. A lot of type 4s want to fight shrinkage instead of embracing it. Love the hair that you have!!

      greetings & thank you for watching and chiming in. Yes yes yes this journey is about getting to know and embrace and love on our own head of hair so it can be it’s best self, coveting someone else’s will never get us there. Improperly caring for it will never get us there. Giving up on it will never get us there. I’ve worked with every single hair type under the sun and I know the potential of well nourished coily kinky curly and wavy hair 💛

      I want this journey to be as easy as possible for us so that we stay committed to our highest expression of self. I’ve had a handful of clients over the years go back to relaxers then come on back to natural undoing all their progress 😉 & thanks for the compliment on these nails 💅🏽 I eat a high raw diet so they grow really fast and strong and file a snag as soon as it happens because if not the nail is gonna tear. I also rub oils into my nails weekly before applying a top coat if I chose to wear one 💛 Blessings to you on your journey 🌻

    I wish this title could be my reality but the depth of struggle for my natural hair was like a supernatural nightmare..I tried for 5 years. My hair was always tangled, matted, dry, breaking/shedding, etc. I already am not good with doing hate then you add a truly tightly bound, auto locking curl pattern to it, I didn't stand a chance. I hate being relaxed, but I feel liberated from the nightmare that was my natural hair 🤷‍♀️🥺.

      greetings & thank you for sharing your experience. If you’re ever ready to try again set up a consultation with me. I promise you it is easy when you know how to care for your hair. All coily kinky hair types when well nourished are soft like cotton. Some have coils patterns some don’t. The other thing you can consider is thermally relaxing using high heat instead of chemical to better preserve the integrity of your hair and avoid the potential health problems - reproductive cancers especially- that come from long term relaxer use. Sending love, possibility and blessings your way. 🤗

      @@uberhaute_naturalz84 this is a possibility for sure. During a consultation all the questions are asked - diet, lifestyle, medications, products etc - to position the client to achieve their overall hair goals. Sadly, in depth consultations are a rarity in the salon space

      hey 4A lady hey 👋🏾 this will be the first time I’ll grow my hair longer than 4yrs. I cut it at 4yrs several years ago and it was bra strap then with a couple of cuts for shape. I’m at three years now and it’s back at bra strap with trims. I’ll grow for 7yrs and see where I land. Are you growing your hair?

    • @angelface333
      @angelface333 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@basiqueopulence888 yes! i thought for the longest time my hair grew crazy slow (it’s been shoulder length all 10 yrs i’ve been natural) until i learned 1. *everyone’s* hair grows about a half an inch each month and 2. i dyed my hair and saw my new growth was chin length after only a year with no touch ups.
      that woke me up to realize my length retention was worse than i thought and i’ve been relearning haircare, reverse engineering my wash day routine, and being *extra* gentle with my hair ever since. i’ve only been growing my hair about a month with my new routine, so i can’t wait to see the length retention after a year 🩷💕

    • @basiqueopulence888
      @basiqueopulence888  5 месяцев назад

      Aaaaahhhh yes! That length retention will get ya every time. Color treated hair needs protein supplementation to stay balanced and curtail breakage. The strength and frequency depends on the color process and hair characteristics. Otherwise it’s breaking off more than normal. First time around my hair was colored a few different times and was healthy because it was never overprocessed and was on the appropriate protein regiment. I only cut it because I was bored with the length and busy so shorter hair was a fun change. I’ve yet to color all over this time but plan to soon. I’m a retired master cosmetologist who specialized in natural texture and color. A lot of my clients had shared with me they were never given proper after care/ at home care guidance when colored professionally so they thought color was bad. It’s higher maintenance but not bad when processed correctly 😉

    Wow, this information has blessed me, thank you! Yesss, can't wait to hear you talk about how to specifically take care of coils like mine. I would also love to hear you talk about color (semi, demi, permanent), how they differ and which one is healthiest for our hair and body. Can you possibly recommend a stylist like yourself in the Atlanta area?

It truly is my highest vision for us collectively to embrace and celebrate our own unique heads of hair. I’ve made a note to speak to the two topics mentioned coil care & color. I’ll share a few recommendations based on their work and reviews. Hopefully you’re on Instagram so you can view the images. I’d recommend setting up a consultation if you have specific needs before committing to a service unless you feel absolutely confident this is the stylist for you.

      greetings. I’m happy to know you found the guidance reassuring. It truly is easy once we know our hair characteristics, products to use and steps for a comprehensive regiment. Products/ingredients to avoid is a huge help as well to prevent set backs. All that extra stuff is just unnecessary 😉 Do I do the pampering clay masks and things when I’m feeling it, yes! It’s like taking my hair to the spa 🧖🏾‍♀️ Is it necessary for a hair safe and complete hair nourishing regiment? No. 😉 Yes, we do ship to Mexico 🇲🇽 and so do the other brands recommended in my ebook. 💃🏾 thank you for watching 🙏🏾

    Thank you for sharing -- your hair looks so pretty! I wanted to ask, does petroleum/petrolatum count as a harmful ingredient after it's been refined?

    • @basiqueopulence888
      @basiqueopulence888  5 месяцев назад +1

      greetings & thank you for chiming in and the compliment on the hair. Yes, all petrochemical derived ingredients are harmful and contain trace contaminates as a result of the refining process. Same is true for even refined natural butters and oils. FYI…All refined shea butter is white or dark yellow ( when mixed with palm oil) in appearance which is what’s in most of the popular products made for natural hair. What you want are unrefined or cold pressed oils and butters instead. Same protective and moisture retention effects with better results for hair skin health and the planet 🌎 there is a RUclipsr called klassically kept she is using this chebe powder “grease” that is shea and mango butter based. Much better option than petroleum. The salves I make are similar but currently out of stock. So check that out or get my ebook if you want healthy options for your hair type 🌞
