    Polygraphs are BS I took one a year ago and lied on pretty much every question he asked and he asked about 20 questions, in the end I passed with flying colors.

      @Noah Shields Honestly I don't know cause I was nervous as hell but I tried my best to slow my breathing down and keep my muscle relaxed because they were measuring my pulse, breathing, and they had me sitting on a pad that detects when you clinch your muscles.

      @@shad5236 Yeah I hear you, not sure I trust them after that. I shouldn't of passed that, maybe the guy gave me a pass....Maybe he liked me, idk. It really boils down to the individual. That's what's dangerous about the polygraph, not whether it's accurate or not but the fact that you have a person interpreting the data. If you rub them the wrong way their probably more inclined to interpret that data in a manner that fit's their perception of you.

      the key is to show a huge reaction during the baseline negative period, and a modestly calm response during the baseline neutral periods. As long as that range is wide, anything kind of middling will be ignored.

    Alex was asking Ed all about the possibility of beating the lie detector. What he SHOULD have asked was: Is it possible that a person might fail their lie detector test even when telling the truth? If not, why not?

    • @eventhisidistaken
      @eventhisidistaken Год назад +1

      About 2/3 of people fail even though they are telling the truth. It is not a lie detector, it's a breathing rate, heart rate, blood pressure and and skin conductivity detector. It *can* be triggered by lies, but it can also be triggered by the tone of the examiner, or by an active imagination. "think about the beach", okay, think about the exam room instead. It's not exactly peaceful, but also not the worst thing ever. "think about falling", okay, think about your child's death by falling. the key is to *way* overreact to the questions that indicate stress, and under-react to the ordinary. Then, anything that happens during the 'exam' is iin between, and you pass.

      The machines work reasonably well. But they do not detect lies. What they measure are heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, and skin conductivity. Proponents claim they indicate truthfulness, but tests have shown over and over that they have very high error rates. What they really measure, is the dynamic between the operator and the subject, and whether or not the subject knows how to spoof it. How dumb is that?

      Ken Donaldson "comment advertisement" on your comment too lol. 3 others on here got the same comment from Ken Donaldson. But anyways, I see what you mean. The combination of the stats that the machine provides with your own God given discernment is what makes the machine useful. The being performing the evaluation is the lie detector. This is truly what makes "beating the machine" difficult. You are trying to fool a human being not a machine. The best advice I ever truly got was "avoid putting yourself in a position where you would have to lie".
