This is the most effective way to retain the new concept in your long term memory. But I would like to add one thing. Instead of passive revision, try Active Recall (AR). Here how you can do it :
1. In your first AR session, try to write the learned concept as much as possible from your memory without seeing the learning materials. Then Check your writings with your materials (books, notes etc.) and relearn the missing concepts.
2. Continue this process for the next sessions.
3. But sometimes depending on the topic, it may need 1hr, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 5 days, 8 days etc. time session to space your topic. (It's easy to remember bcz it is the mighty Fibonacci Sequence.)
Believe the science. It works! You will never forget your materials. I'm a teacher and I applied it to me and my students. I also applied 'Interleaving' technique along with 'Spaced Repetition' and 'Active Recall'.
