I'm in the States...do I just stand outside (anywhere I can see the sun from) or is it best to be standing in a specific area, like a large open space (i.e. park).

Stupid question. 😜 sorry, I’m tired and I’m sarcastic, not a good combo. Anyway, if you’re in the zone where it’ll be a ring of fire, it’ll last probably 2-3 minutes, so if you want to see it from start to finish, an open area would be your best bet. If you just want to try and catch the peak coverage, anywhere you can see the sun would work. Depends on what’s around you and where you are. Small town, few thousand people with no skyscrapers, front yard would be fine. A city with a ton of structures blocking you, find an open area just in case. If you’ve never seen one, it can last from a few seconds to several minutes. From first contact to the moon moving out of the way of the sun, that can take a couple of hours with as slow as the moon is moving.
