I personally thought this was the best batch of episodes in a LONG time. I found myself enjoying every single one of them. Can't wait to see how they adapt the rest of the gym battles, as well as the Elite 4, Nemona, etc.
My personal thought for why Indigo Academy was thought of instead of Naranja was obvious Kanto nostalgia, but also to kind of be like "Oh, we're starting from the OG Region to the latest" when they go to Paldea. Also, Roy's Island was in Kanto, so if it just started at Naranja, there wouldn't be a real reason to pick him up 😅
They could've had Roy's island just be off the coast of Paldea. Anime-only locations have existed from the start- The island of giant Pokemon comes to mind. Then again... yeah, nostalgia's more likely :/
They also wouldn’t have had to travel if it was started in Paldea since the point of her joining the Rising Volt Tacklers was to get her back to her family safely.
I feel it's also the journey to Naranja Academy. It gives us time to establish the overarching plot of the Volt Tackers and Explorers and give the anime it's own basis, before folding in the game elements. Liko got to grow BEFORE she's know taking on the gyms.
Also if liko started in naranja, her mother wont have a reason to hire RVT to bring her back to paldea Roy will never leave kanto, dot will stay as introvert, and liko will never meet sprigatito
The awesome sakuga given to Quaxly makes me glad I chose the duck myself. Honestly, I was half expecting it to evolve during the battle. As for Floragato... It better learn a new move like Play Rough or Acrobatics... Spamming Magical Leaf is so old now.

This series is just sooo freaking good, honestly I think it’s better than XY but I won’t double down on that until the series is over. (Series as in whenever they finish all of their goals, since idk if we’re gonna be sticking with these characters for another 20 years) It’s just such a shame people are just blinded by ash nostalgia to give this a chance 😔

Ann conveniently appearing in Naranja academy at the same time Sango did and also the fact that they don't have any scene where they appear in the same place together adds more potential evidence to the theory about Ann secretly being Sango in disguise.
Episode 49 makes me really hopeful for a funny future episode where someone other than Dot has to wear the Nidothing costume to not reveal her secret identity. The obvious choice for this would be Liko (who would totally faint), though I'm unsure if it would properly fit her as she's quite taller than Dot. But the costume itself does look like it has room to spare. Not to mention the fact that inside space is rarely a problem in fiction, as shown by backpacks.
The thing with the Roy vs Nemona battle I personally believe that she was either trying to learn what moves fuecoco knew or even just holding back like she does in the games

Really enjoyed the past few episodes! Getting some amazing Paldea stuff. And seeing Liko, Roy and Dot developing their battle skills! Can't wait for more and hopefully their teams will get an extra Pokemon as well! However I'm so into this series because the structure is just better than we had with Journeys

It is also a world building/ cultural detail that lets the audience know that since Sun and Moon the concept of kids going to Pokémon school has become the status quo. Not every 10 year old is starting their cross-country trainer journey, there is a more structured approach to becoming a Pokemon trainer.
Because penny works for the pokemon league. I think Horizons is after the events of Scarlet and Violet making the events gen 9 canon to the pokemon anime. Too bad we probably won't see the professors, but it's still cool

Ya gotta get through 45 episodes of Airship Adventures before getting to the return of Gym battles (Horizons Part 3). That may sound annoying but it's so worth. Horizons parts 1 and 2 are Basically Journeys the sequel but the production team is really passionate about trying to create something great, and it shows through the overall Animation, writing, characters, and action.

I was honestly kind of surprised by how quickly Horizons went through the gym battles. I'm not complaining, though, because I'm glad it didn't take a whole lot of episodes just to get to each gym.
It feels like the pokemon anime finally got its footing again. Felt so bad putting on some of the newer shows and my kids just being bored out of their mind. Felt for a long time that the Pokemon anime had become fluff. Compared to the old show. Now with this new show. They can't wait to watch every new episode.

That just means Katy, Brassius, & Larry are the only ones to use a pokemon of a different type (and as well as their usual game signature partner Ace) for their Tera Ace
