Yes, Kevin is insanely talented! He also plays saxophone and keyboard. (He's played both cello and sax at Carnegie Hall as a teenager) If you want to hear more solo/lead singing with PTX, his most extensive solo is in "Imagine" where he gets an entire verse, along with some prominent parts in the background harmonies. He has a slightly shorter solo in "Mary Did You Know?", a closing line in "Say Something" and brief bits in several others (mostly Christmas songs). His megawatt smile at the end of this could light up New York City.
Seconded. It's one of their most underrated performances. They do vocal layering similar to what they do in Cheerleader, but more extensively. It's one of the videos where if you pay attention, you learn to respect Kirstin a lot more, since she gets the most complicated part (even though not the flashiest).
Please watch PTX "Say Something" - it's really special. It's PTX, Kristen sings the lead and gives it her all.... Avi looks so cute in it, and Kevin plays the cello while beatboxing!!! It's PERFECT!
He does a great job with his electric cello but if you want to see something really special, check out his original composition "Renegade" which has both insane vocals and killer acoustic cello. He also did an Adele medley with acoustic cello and a fantastic cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me". Kevin is not only insanely talented but he is also a great all around human being. I just can't say enough good things about him. He is my favorite member of Pentatonix.

Due to the reneging on the award of a record contract to Pentatonix after the Sing-Off competition that they won at the end of 2011 Avi and Kevin Olusola became roommates. This actually was a happy accident because they wound up composing music for Pentatonix together. Avi Kaplan mentioned in a TV interview that he liked "Show You How to Love" because it was the first Pop song he had ever written. Kevin contributed the chorus to the composition. Kevin Olusola, the group's beatboxer, is a Yale graduate (pre-med). He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, loves classical music, and plays piano, cello, and saxophone. He had performed at Carnegie Hall twice as soloist on the cello and saxophone and has appeared on NPR’s “From The Top.” In 2009, he won second place in an international cello competition hosted by Yo-Yo Ma. Could you react to Pentatonix tries to sing 100 pop songs in under 10 minutes challenge by Replay, it really shows the dynamic they have as a group and it's a fun video. I hope you watch it next 🥺 It'll be so greaat. I don't know if someone told you this (probably they already have) but Scott, Mitch and Kirstie grew up together, and started singing as a group when they were in highschool. After that they thought about getting a bass for the group and a beatboxer, so they met avi through a friend (bc avi had a deep voice and also liked singing) and then they met Kevin. I just find interesting how a lot of groups form based on very technical calculations and they search for every member to make the best group possible, but ptx just started as friends that liked singing. Even when they got a record deal, the dealer dumped them and they didn't give up. They have that special connection with each other that make them so likable and funny, so it'd be fun to see your reaction and for you to get to know them better
This (and others) are just KO playing in his studio.... his 'smug' look is funny since he's so humble - he is just awesome...and his family are just as awesome. His sister, Candace is a pharmacist and one of the funniest people (watch the Pentacon 2018 vids - she's a scream) he also has a brother (Kellon) who is also studying medicine to become a Dr (not sure if he's finished his degree yet) His parents are also really humorous people... they are both Drs and must be so very proud of all of their children.

He is my favorite too, although there is strong competition within the group. When he first joined the group I was told he was not aware he could sing and had some lessons from Avi! He also speaks several languages including Mandarin. He entered Yale as a pre-med before changing to music.
Add what you are seeing on display right now, and then add that he is a 2 time Carnegie Hall soloist on Cello AND Saxophone, and that he graduated pre-med from Yale.

What truly amazed me on this video is how he mixed all of this on the fly. Normally you would lay down a track, then gob ack and lay down the next track, and so on. Not Kevin, he says "I'll just lay down all the tracks on the fly so we can do this in one take". He is truly talented. Now you need to check out Avi's "Change on the Rise" video. I think you just might enjoy it too. It is an Avi Kaplan original song.

when PTX was looking to compete on NBC the sing off they found KO celloboxing (BEATBOXING TO HIS CELLO ) and hired him, he has played his cello (which he calls 'Byonce') on a few PTX vids and he never ceases to amaze
Avi apparently extensively vocally tutored him. I'm sure, eventually, the record label, their management company, or PTX as a corporate entity, eventually got him additional vocal coaching as well.
People say he's talented, but the truth is (if you ask him) that he just works his ass off. He won't settle for anything less than his best. He didn't sing at all before joining PTX, but he's been working hard at improving. Compare his high voice in this with the new 12 Days of Christmas track to see how far he has come.
Dessert, that was the 7 course meal lol. The dude is the rock and foundation. If you want to fee; real good with PTX try Happy Now a new original...you will smile. Yeah - everything you just said! Ditto! Well, he also plays saxaphone! Kevin is my favorite- I love him soooo much! He also does an awesome cover of Human Nature by Michael Jackson. He recently released a video of a cover of True Colors. Yes, I should be hired as KOs PR person coz I tell everybody about how wonderful he is! LOL! And on top of ALL his inhuman talent, he has a beautiful soul! Anyway, I LOVED this reaction! PLEASE keep doing Ptx, Kevin & all the other solo stuff from the rest of them!!! He is my favorite too, although there is strong competition within the group. When he first joined the group I was told he was not aware he could sing and had some lessons from Avi! He also speaks several languages including Mandarin. He entered Yale as a pre-med before changing to music.
Add what you are seeing on display right now, and then add that he is a 2 time Carnegie Hall soloist on Cello AND Saxophone, and that he graduated pre-med from Yale.

Another great reaction!!!! Looking for "Live" performances by Kevin? In RUclips search for "kevin ko live performance" , and you'll get a list of some of his solo performances. I've only watched a couple so I don't know if any of them are what you're looking for, but have fun looking.
What truly amazed me on this video is how he mixed all of this on the fly. Normally you would lay down a track, then gob ack and lay down the next track, and so on. Not Kevin, he says "I'll just lay down all the tracks on the fly so we can do this in one take". He is truly talented.

I'm sure PTX would love to have Kevin sing more. The only problem is when Kevin is singing, there's no beat. They have to pick key moments to kill the beat for a few moments and have Kevin come in.

I guess Avi was hard to replace when he left PTX, but replacing Kevin would be simply impossible

when PTX was looking to compete on NBC the sing off they found KO celloboxing (BEATBOXING TO HIS CELLO ) and hired him, he has played his cello (which he calls 'Byonce') on a few PTX vids and he never ceases to amaze
Avi apparently extensively vocally tutored him. I'm sure, eventually, the record label, their management company, or PTX as a corporate entity, eventually got him additional vocal coaching as well.

People say he's talented, but the truth is (if you ask him) that he just works his ass off. He won't settle for anything less than his best. He didn't sing at all before joining PTX, but he's been working hard at improving. Compare his high voice in this with the new 12 Days of Christmas track to see how far he has come.
Before PTX Kevin was in Pre Med then came the call from PTX and the rest is history.
Dessert, that was the 7 course meal lol. The dude is the rock and foundation. If you want to fee; real good with PTX try Happy Now a new original...you will smile. Another rabbit hole to fall down into is Post Modern Jukebox (PMJ) They take current songs and spin them stylistically back in time.
