Performed at Carnegie Hall playing saxaphone at age 17. Plays cello as well as most other professional cellists. Is argueably the best beatboxer in the world.(eats drum kits for breakfast)! Does the cello & beatboxing simultaneously, by the way. Sings like an angel. Is a devoted Christian with a heart devoted to the Lord. Is very humble, kind, creative, intelligent (I mentioned Yale, right?!), sweet, and has the most beautiful spirit I have ever seen in a young man. I sincerely love this guy as if he were my own son. If he wasn't married I would be trying hard to fix him up with my daughter! (And oh man, would she ever be down for that! LOL! She wants a good Christian boy who is intelligent & loves music! And she has a lot of undiagnosed health issues, so the doctor thing would be very handy! HaHa!) So either God fell asleep with his finger on that talent button, or there was an excess of talent in stock that day & they decided to just give it all to one person, most likely to avoid a lot of extra paperwork! XO

Kevin is without a doubt the most versatile and underrated member of Pentatonix. Dude is legit! This was one of my favorite reactions from you Schnell simply because the first time I watched this cover I was reacting the same way I was like what is literally going on right now lol And honestly I’m grateful that I get to wake up each and everyday because we never know when our last day will be. The 3 core PTX members were friends since high school. They added Avi as a basso profundo, and then they needed/wanted a beatboxer so (as I've read, anyway) they added Kevin one day before their first performance on the Singoff show. At the time, Kevin was already a graduate of Yale and Berklee and had been promoting the artform of celloboxing in China (he speaks Mandarin as well as English and Spanish). He occasionally sings a solo piece or plays cello in PTX releases, altho that's not his primary function. He does whatever is needed. When PTX decided to make a last-minute change in the lyrics they were going to use for their official "Hallelujah" release, and were out of the country at the time, Kevin found a studio for them and produced the new soundtrack. Yeah, as someone else mentioned, this is PTX's beatboxer. 😊 All the PTX solo stuff is awesome, but in my humble opinion, Kevin's stuff tops them all. I love watching people react to his genius for the first time. 😃
Please explain to your viewers that a Cello HAS NO FRETS! Nothing to gauge the notes but his impeccable muscle memory, for fingering, hand placement, etc. Your & his smiles are infectious.
He's classically trained concert musician in multiple instruments, speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, was in pre-med at a major university at the time of Pentatonix Sing Off season... The further you dig, the more awesome he seems - and a humble individual too.

Has anybody mentioned yet that Kevin didn't sing when he started PTX? Avi gave him lessons while they were roomies. And just like everything else he touches, he mastered it. And your reaction to his cello playing was just like mine. So happy you did this one!

Kevin is ridiculously talented. I’ve heard that his musical background was in classical/instrumental (saxophone & cello) and when he joined PTX he had never had any vocal training. So he asked Avi (his roommate) and Mitch for lessons...and the rest is history. He doesn’t have as wide of a range as the other PTX members, but he has a beautiful tenor to go with his other skills.
I joke with other Pentaholics that KO is the classic Over Achiever of the group. He plays Cello, Piano, and Saxophone all at concert levels. He graduated pre-med from Yale, spent over a year in China where he learned to speak Chinese. He sings Tenor but vocals were not his strong suite so he worked with other band members and a vocal coach until while on tour he would perform the featured vocals in "if i ever fall in love" originally done by guest artist Jason Derulo for the album and video. He also writes and produces music both individually and for the group. So yes, KO is more that just the beatboxer.
I love Pentatonix myself, there's something about Kevin Olusola's whole life that is just like out of a book on how to live life right. Dude seems to be a legit genius, plays seemingly every instrument in the world and has a killer voice, lived in Asia to pick up a new culture and language which he speaks flawlessly and has just an education pedigree that'll make a grandmother proud. On top of everything seems like the most down to earth guy. I am beyond impressed with that man.
Kevin created celloboxing, when you beatbox and play the cello at the same time. Kevin is literally my favorite member of Pentatonix because his talents are endless. He can beatbox, plays cello, piano, saxophone, speaks, manderian, sings. He’s just too talented for this world. After Pentatonix won the Singoff they toured in Asia and during a live TV show in China Kevin blew the audience away answering the show's host question in fluent Mandarin. He was also in pre-med at Yale when he joined Pentatonix and was a primary cellists for the Yale symphony. Man of many trades and master of most!
I thought you knew who he was when you started to talk about Scott. Kevin is very much a genius , he was in pre med when he decided to join PTX . He is fluent in Mandarin . Plays many instruments including saxophone which there is a video of him at 17 years old playing at a show at Carnegie Hall. Also beatboxing classical music.
I can't believe you didn't realize that was PTX's Kevin! hahaha. He's amazing isn't he? You really must check out more of his solo stuff and also Kirstin's solo album (which is not acapella), Avi's solo work and Mitch and Scott's side group Superfuit's album Future Friends. No shade to Matt, I just don't know of any solo stuff of his. This group is a bottomless pit of talent!! I'm grateful for this reaction, I'm grateful that we live in a country where we do get the right to vote for our elected leaders and I'm grateful for the massive voter turnout this year. It's absolutely historic and whatever happens lets try to get back to treating each other like we are all on the same team, America, because we are!

Let me splain. Kevin is a seven day Adventist. No wait let me back up Scott saw his you tube video of him cello-boxing and said yes him, Him, I don't care, shhh, HIM! and then proceeded to pay his last dollar to get Kevin to fly out leave medical school for the sing off. After the sing off KO said look I am a seventh day Adventist I don't want to hold you back but I can not work on this day because of my faith. RUclips reactors and performers have expanded my already eclectic taste in music. And some of them like you and Angelina Jordan make me feel like I have an extended family who shared my love of music. I’ve always admired acapella groups, and the videos I’ve seen of particularly Pentatonix and Home Free have brought me new pleasures. He is the complete musical genius of the group (not to say the others aren't super talented), but his beatboxing makes them keep up the beat and harmonizing. You need to see Avi Kaplan's (bass from Pentatonix) solo work. He is just amazing! I would watch Change On The Rise, he played all the instruments and recorded all the vocals, he was heavily involved in the video too, it was filmed in his cabin in the woods, where he lives now. You will be amazed!
Avi's other releases are good too... Otherside, Aberdeen, The Summit, I'll Get By, Full Moon, and his covers of House Of The Rising Sun and Lean On Me. There are more, my memory just sucks.

Kinda surprised you didn’t see the similarities or even notice the name Kevin was the same one in pentatonix!!! Remember when the group PTX first formed they found Kevin through his RUclips & must of realized how talented he was, but it’s his talent in so many areas besides their individual talent that has brought them so much success so far. Remember in some of the PTX songs he brings out the chello , with that said I agree you definitely need to do a lot more PTX reactions as well as each member individually too, plus check out super fruit it’s a spin off which has Mitch & Scott in it

Has anybody mentioned yet that Kevin didn't sing when he started PTX? Avi gave him lessons while they were roomies. And just like everything else he touches, he mastered it.

Kevin is ridiculously talented. I’ve heard that his musical background was in classical/instrumental (saxophone & cello) and when he joined PTX he had never had any vocal training. So he asked Avi (his roommate) and Mitch for lessons...and the rest is history. He doesn’t have as wide of a range as the other PTX members, but he has a beautiful tenor to go with his other skills.
I joke with other Pentaholics that KO is the classic Over Achiever of the group. He plays Cello, Piano, and Saxophone all at concert levels. He graduated pre-med from Yale, spent over a year in China where he learned to speak Chinese. He sings Tenor but vocals were not his strong suite so he worked with other band members and a vocal coach until while on tour he would perform the featured vocals in "if i ever fall in love" originally done by guest artist Jason Derulo for the album and video. He also writes and produces music both individually and for the group. So yes, KO is more that just the beatboxer.

I love Pentatonix myself, there's something about Kevin Olusola's whole life that is just like out of a book on how to live life right. Dude seems to be a legit genius, plays seemingly every instrument in the world and has a killer voice, lived in Asia to pick up a new culture and language which he speaks flawlessly and has just an education pedigree that'll make a grandmother proud. On top of everything seems like the most down to earth guy. I am beyond impressed with that man.

Kevin created celloboxing, when you beatbox and play the cello at the same time. Kevin is literally my favorite member of Pentatonix because his talents are endless. He can beatbox, plays cello, piano, saxophone, speaks, manderian, sings. He’s just too talented for this world. Highly recommend his performance at Carnegie Hall, he plays saxophone, or Heart Attack, he cello boxing.

After Pentatonix won the Singoff they toured in Asia and during a live TV show in China Kevin blew the audience away answering the show's host question in fluent Mandarin. He was also in pre-med at Yale when he joined Pentatonix and was a primary cellists for the Yale symphony. Man of many trades and master of most!

I thought you knew who he was when you started to talk about Scott. Kevin is very much a genius , he was in pre med when he decided to join PTX . He is fluent in Mandarin . Plays many instruments including saxophone which there is a video of him at 17 years old playing at a show at Carnegie Hall. Also beatboxing classical music.

I can't believe you didn't realize that was PTX's Kevin! hahaha. He's amazing isn't he? You really must check out more of his solo stuff and also Kirstin's solo album (which is not acapella), Avi's solo work and Mitch and Scott's side group Superfuit's album Future Friends. No shade to Matt, I just don't know of any solo stuff of his. This group is a bottomless pit of talent!!
I'm grateful for this reaction, I'm grateful that we live in a country where we do get the right to vote for our elected leaders and I'm grateful for the massive voter turnout this year. After the sing off KO said look I am a seventh day Adventist I don't want to hold you back but I can not work on this day because of my faith. RUclips reactors and performers have expanded my already eclectic taste in music. And some of them like you and Angelina Jordan make me feel like I have an extended family who shared my love of music. I’ve always admired acapella groups, and the videos I’ve seen of particularly Pentatonix and Home Free have brought me new pleasures. Please keep on reacting and throwing in your occasional performance to prove you know what you are talking about.
Thank you so much for doing this video...I knew you would love this and it solidifies his place with the Pentatonix group. He is the complete musical genius of the group (not to say the others aren't super talented), but his beatboxing makes them keep up the beat and harmonizing. Like the others of Pentatonix this is his separate channel...you might want to check out some of his other solos.

You need to see Avi Kaplan's (bass from Pentatonix) solo work. He is just amazing!
I would watch Change On The Rise, he played all the instruments and recorded all the vocals, he was heavily involved in the video too, it was filmed in his cabin in the woods, where he lives now.
You will be amazed!
Avi's other releases are good too... Otherside, Aberdeen, The Summit, I'll Get By, Full Moon, and his covers of House Of The Rising Sun and Lean On Me. There are more, my memory just sucks.

Kinda surprised you didn’t see the similarities or even notice the name Kevin was the same one in pentatonix!!! Remember when the group PTX first formed they found Kevin through his RUclips & must of realized how talented he was, but it’s his talent in so many areas besides their individual talent that has brought them so much success so far. Remember in some of the PTX songs he brings out the chello , with that said I agree you definitely need to do a lot more PTX reactions as well as each member individually too, plus check out super fruit it’s a spin off which has Mitch & Scott in it
