Hi Meredith, I'm a middle school math teacher this year. Also because of your videos my love for ASL has been rekindled and I'll be teaching an ASL 101 class this fall. I'm super excited!
Hello Meredith, I am a counselor in my second year at the New York State School for the Deaf. I have been using your wonderful videos to learn ASL so I can better communicate with my students who don't use cochlears or hearing aids. Because our school is preK through 12, I appreciate your holiday, seasonal, and patriotic videos and use what I learn everyday. Because there is a shortage of educators who know sign language in our area, I was hired with no previous ASL experience. I absolutely love working with our students each and every day!
Hi Meredith, I homeschool my two kids who are 9 and 10 years old and we love learning ASL from your videos! I promote you all the time through homeschool Facebook pages. Thanks for doing what you do!
Many many moons ago, when I was teaching in the States, I taught my students "water" and "bathroom" and it worked great. Now that I'm teaching in Thailand, I'm going to use these (and more) again. Thanks so much!
Hello, Meredith! My name is Jolynn Sullivan. I teach 5th grade and have already begun teaching my students ASL. I am new to your channel and I already love it! I used this video to teach the basic signs for classroom management, connection, communication, and engagement purposes; with a few added such as thank you, excuse me, bless you, tissue, hurt, bandaid, WOW, nice, name, forgot, I don't know, fine, tired, confused, I can't hear you, friend, excited, nice, me too... I have noticed that it helps to strengthen our classroom community. My hope is for my students to learn enough so that they can play games and interact with the deaf and heard of hearing students in our school. Thank you for these wonderful videos. It really helps to know the history of the sign when committing it to memory! I would really love to see you add more, especially for teachers. Or groupings of words that are related to the holidays or social situations so that I could assign them to my students for independent learning. I hope that I am chosen to win the FREE course as I am super excited about the possibility of learning even more so I can offer PD to other teachers in my building. liiL ASL
Hello! I am a STEM teacher for kids K-8. I have been teaching for 20 years! Recently I’ve been learning how to sign as a hobby and I have found myself thinking about signing so much that what I learn is starting to carryover into my classroom. The kids love it. Where I live, we have a state school for the deaf. Every time I watch your videos I think maybe someday I could become fluent enough to maybe teach, or become an aide at this school.
I teach acting and the performing arts as well as studying ASL. In my small corner of the world, I hope to fully integrate a signed musical production like DeafWest Theatre did on Broadway with Spring Awakening someday 😊
Hi, Meredith (and Brian)! I am a high school English teacher. This year, because I listed ASL as a hobby on my resume, I am also teaching a small ASL class---we use your RUclips videos and have so much fun. As always, thank you so much for all you do!
Hello Meredith, I am a Homeschool mom from the Philippines, when I was in grade school I love to do signs and buy notebooks with ABCs sign on it and now that I am a mom I tried to update my ASL and in doing so got to introduce it to my 2 kids (9y & 8y old), and we are loving the learnings that we are getting from your YTVs. Thank you for doing so...
These are great! Another sign I’ve seen used at my kids’ school is “same” … especially good with younger kids who all want to tell their story that’s the same as their friends’. Love it!
I cant tell you how much I appreciate your videos. Im currently trying to learn ASL to be an interpreter or teacher, something to do with sign language and your videos are beyond helpful especially for me where sadly there isnt a whole lot of places if any around me that teach it to the degree that Im looking for. So thank you Meredith a trillion! Its such a blessing to be able to have this available!
Hi, Meredith! I teach general education in a fourth grade classroom (all content areas) in a rural school in Geneseo, NY. I have a hereditary disease called Otosclerosis with a constant four tone tinnitus. I only have roughly 15% hearing in my right ear, and the last two Septembers, my good ear had a sudden hearing loss-i dread next week coming! I’m down to about 20% hearing in my “good” ear. My hearing loss has given me a chance to connect and relate to students. Teaching them ASL is my way of teaching them empathy, & knowledge that they’ll use the rest of their lives. My school just bought amplification assistive technology for me but the tinnitus still makes it difficult. I look forward to learning more ASL!
Hi Meredith. I am an English as a Second Language Teacher. I help Kindergarten teachers every day. We are working with a variety of students with different languages and abilities or non-verbal students. Sometimes we need to have a 'common' language for all students and teachers. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I utilized ASL when I taught 2nd Grade students virtually. Since then I use it as often as I can to help myself, parents, students and teachers. Keep making awesome videos that are helping MANY people. Thank you - Anne
I learned a little bit, and teach my son some signs... And we use some of it to communicate when there is too much noise or to talk silently when needed. This new use in the classroom is a great idea!!
Hello! I am an elementary school teacher , I teach ESE self contained. This is my 2nd year using your videos in the classroom on a daily basis to teach myself and my students to sign. It helped them last year to learn to spell, learn how to share their feelings and helped them develop confidence in themselves. I am excited to continue their learning this year with all of your videos.
I teach first grade, and learning sign language from your videos has inspired me to teach my class ASL so they can communicate with other deaf children!
Hi! I am an Intensive SDC teacher. In my class a lot of students sign or are learning to sign to help them communicate. I have recently discovered your videos and they have been so helpful to learn some basic words and phrases, help me model signs, and communicate better with students. I also plan on using some of these videos to practice with my class.

I use sign all the time. Wait is a good sign too. also a R hand with a double bounce for restroom. WHAT IS THE SIGN FOR TEACHER? and the sentence "I am a teacher."
I actually started using my own made up signs in class just out of frustration that my redirection for my squirrely kids was having the opposite effect for my already focused kids. It would be more sensible to teach them real ASL signs though!
Hello! I realize this was posted 2 years ago and may not be monitored anymore. I am still reaching out because I am interested in a lifetime membership. I have taught my students to sign for years. I grew up with a deaf sister and sadly she passed away 8 years ago. I am loosing my ability to sign because I have not used it in years. I would love to be able to reacquaint myself with ASL to keep her memory alive. Thank you for considering... My students love your videos. Thank you for posting!
Hi, Meredith! I am learning so much from you! I teach HS marching bands across Texas. When you have over 300 students at once, ASL doesn’t just come in handy, it’s a necessity. When I am choreographing the Colorguard (flags, rifles, sabers and dance,) we have to use visual cues, sign language, to teach and correct someone across the marching field. It really saves on the vocal chords! So, we have set of signs for each piece of equipment and a separate sign language for teaching and correcting ballet, or whichever style of dance that is appropriate to the music. It’s fun, but we have to communicate across distances with the marching band blasting all around us. 😁😖🕺
I am already half deaf in both ears, and my hearing have gotten worse and worse i can still hear but not as good as i could before (even with hearing aids). I have no ASL training at all, so because my hearing have gotten worse i went to youtube to try and learn ASL in case I went compleatly deaf, I am still in high school and I will try to use some of these, but my classmates do not know sign languge, but there is one in my class that is trying to learn it because he knew that i don't have the best hearing. I guess they have to teach me at some ASL 😂
Hello. I am a learning support teacher’s aid. I work with a student with apraxia who is nonverbal. I am teaching her some signs to use in the classroom.

I grew up with a deaf sister and sadly she passed away 8 years ago. I am loosing my ability to sign because I have not used it in years. I would love to be able to reacquaint myself with ASL to keep her memory alive. Thank you for considering... My students love your videos. Thank you for posting!
I teach German. Wonder if I should be teaching my students ASL or DGS (Deutsche Gebärdensprache/German Sign Language) 😆

Súper ! I love it ! ❤
I teach my kids! Homeschool mom. ❤️
