So, I read Numbers 18, Malachi 3, Matthew 23 and others. From what I understand, even though the tithes were for the Levites because they recieved no land allotments (Num 18:20-21), the Lord still referred to tithe as the 'Lord's tithe' in verse 32. The tithe and other offerings are not to be treated as common (numbers 18:32). God even required the Levites to give a tenth of their tithe to the Lord as sacred offering (num 18:26). In Matt 23:23, Jesus stated they SHOULD tithe However, that there are more important matters like mercy, justice and faith. In Malachi 3:10, God stated another reason for tithe (so there will be enough food in my temple). He charged them to put him to test by paying their tithes. I believe if you live a GODLY LIFE, give freely to those in need and pay tithe, the blessings in Malachi 3:10-11 are yours.
