Greatness among the Greats. I saw this same concert 22 years ago May 4 2001. U2 chose to come to Lexington Kentucky twice..that was Joshua tree 1987 and this concert in 2001. The Edges right hand man, Dallas is from Lexington Kentucky. You feel kind of special when they come to your town and you don’t have to drive four hours to go see them play . It was typically 4 to 5 years between each album and tour. Zoo TV tour absolutely mesmerized me when I saw them perform in Atlanta September 25, 1992, more so than Joshua tree. That concert was that was the first time I saw them perform in a stadium. Pop Mart set them Back in 1997, their fans we’re not connecting with it. and as a Fan since 1986, I was awaiting their comeback kick ass album and tour, and when they released “all that you can’t leave behind” on October 30, 2000, I skipped out of work to listen to the whole damn thing and I was like “yes they are back!” Bono announced “we are re-applying for the job. We are going to be the greatest rock band in the world” and by god this was a great concert. Bono is getting old and has physically aged terribly… and so am I… how short life is.
I always found Bono coming on stage and bowing before his audience/fans to be one of the most epic things I've ever seen! Shows how much he appreciates and respects his fans .....even in signings at gigs or on the street. I met him in Dublin a couple times and he is a true gent and human being.... considering he is the biggest rockstar in the planet! He always says at gigs to his fans....."thanks for giving us a great life" 👍 furthermore to all the haters or supposed fans who criticise U2 for running out of ideas and lack of energy etc......hello this is THE band that have done it ALL achieved it ALL and pioneered so much in terms of sound and live experience! They are in their 60s now and have been active consistently for the last 4 decade's as the very same quartet with no band breakups and very little hiatus! sold 175 million records worldwide and that's actual records not counting digital downloads, They have won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, in 2005, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility and were the world record holders for highest grossing live tour ever..........until ed Sheeran took that in 2019(however important to note that ed Sheeran had to tour for 2.5 years playing 260 gigs to beat U2's record who achieved the feat in less than half the time and shows played)! U2 are truly the last supper in rock band terms and we will never see their like again.....in fact music itself and the live experience have changed forever......I believe the best times and bands are behind us now but at least we have the memories and the content to enjoy forever 😁👍
U2 still holds the biggest tour record adjusted for inflation, which is the proper way to do it. I mean, how is a tour in the 80’s or 90’s ever going to be in the list without inflation adjustment? awesome post, and so true in every word. Met Bono twice outside of gigs and is truly a down to earth nice guy. Gave me and my friend tickets to the show that night because we didn’t have any.
as a 7 years old child this was my favorite video. My dad had it on dvd and i find it so cool, that i watched it always. no 22 years later i find it on youtube. man i love u2
Next week they put it out as a live album!! That's why they're releasing these clip!! see all the remastered albums/lps/boxes of ATYCLB they are releasing next week!!
@@patroche550 good question; I checked: in the 5cd-box and in the 11-LP box all the songs of the concert are included, remastered!! plus ATYCLB remastered and outtakes/b-sides and remixes...
The Bono Glasses Cam version of this is the best, never forget discovering it on the Making Of Elevation Live documentary with the secret code after you highlight and enter Bono's shades on the icon at the end of the credits. This show looks epic in hd, hopefully Slane Castle gets the same treatment
AHHH MEMORIES. I'd just been laid off, so I hit the groupie trail and followed U2 around the country for a bit. Got inside the "heart' a couple times and let me tell you, it was like NOTHING I'd ever experienced before! This was right after 9/11 so things were very weirdly tenuous, but everyone was so nice, great fun, and great to talk to. And of course U2 rocked everyone's socks off! Truly some of the best times of my life!
I feel your joy😁 this gig actually took place in June 2001 ....on the live dvd release which came out post September 11 the song "new York" was black+white in tribute. I was actually at both gigs in Slane Castle, Ireland just 2 weeks before September 11, which was also released on DVD and was truly EPIC.....unlike this gig which is phenomenal indoors to circa 25000 , the homecoming gigs were outdoors to circa 100,000 fans each gig.....as the name Slane Castle implies it is an actual castle on large historic grounds in a valley and is a breathtaking sight to behold in daylight and at night with the castle illuminated.....wow! 🤤 Ah the memories
Been to a TON of concerts in my lifetime. Of all of them, this is easily my favorite opening of any show I've ever seen. House lights on until the peak of Elevation and then BOOOM! incredible. The crowd in Vegas (where I saw this show) went absolutely NUTS from that point all the way until the end of the show. U2 were truly at their absolute peak with this show. Simply amazing.
@@hasinurrahman4119 nice to hear that! The concert venue is like 5 km away from my home. Nothing made me more proud than having U2 playing in my city for the first time.
Absolutely fantastic One of the best songs ever written One of the greatest bands on this planet What an energy Thank you for this Hope to see you on the road again very soon
I saw them may 4, 2001 ELEVATION TOUR IN Lexington Ky Rupp Arena which holds 27,000. I could not hear the next day. My ears rang for 4 days. Loved it😊 loudest concert ever.
I bought the “WAR” album when it first came out in 1983... (still have it!)...then saw them live in a PACKED Pontiac Silverdome during the “Joshua Tree” tour... Unfortunately ticket prices have spiraled out of control since then. 💸 Still a favorite though🎶🎵 😎👍
That SG is the perfect tone for this track. Drums are tuned and tight. Clayton never fails on bass. Bono, always a keen performer. Hardest working band in musical entertainment!
So cool 😎 U2 is so amazing! Love watching these concerts, makes me feel so good and happy. Needed so bad in these times. Tell me something true, I believe in you......you are breaking my heart 💔
Damn, this song is like a double-shot of cappuccino! I'm Wide AWAKE!!!! (And June 2001. Wow, we were so innocent, then.. ) Love you Boys! Rock on!!! Your girl in Kansas🌻💗
I remember watching this DVD over and over in my childhood

Best band out there honestly
Ok then but U2 til I die
@Jason Brown . Oui! The Beatles. Second: Pink Floyd... Led Zepellin.
@Jason Brown. C'est une question du gôut...
@Jason Brown ni
No
The idea of turning off the lights instead of turning them on is brilliant. What a power song.
Crazy how time flies. This was just before 9/11. Before Boston even cared about a guy named Tom Brady. Man the decades go by so fast.
Absolutely the best live version of Elevation. The Edge at 2:30. So much better than subsequent tours
This along with the dvd U2 go Home at Slane Castle also on the Elevation tour are 2 of their greatest performances ever!
Wow.....................
Even his mother calls him "The Edge"
"The Edge"

Mucho contexto
I was in college when this came out I watched it countless times on repeat....and now I feel like an old man watching it
I was in the front row of the heart! My girlfriend at the time has her scarf being waved on the DVD Cover...such an amazing show
The U2 Elevation Live in Boston DVD was my first contact with U2. I will never forget! Best band always! Best song❤️
Same. Something just clicked when I watched that show.
I “3rd” that. I was 13 when I first saw it and they immediately went from Dad-Rock to best live act on the planet

😂🤣
U2 concerts are a spiritual experience. Happy to have seen them three times.
U2 concerts were always too rich for my blood, so I greatly appreciate the band sharing these concert videos.
Probably the only band, along with the stones that can fill out a stadium anywhere on earth...
And perhaps Coldplay too...
Don’t forget Metallica
Muse, Red hot Chilli peppers,Green day, Guns n Roses.
Taylor Swift and Beyoncé
They need to put this concert out as a live album!
Will be on Spotify.
Why put out a live album when you have put it out on dvd?? If you were in the fan club there is a live cd release which is incredible!!!
