They said their base models of zen5 won't beat their x3d zen4 counterparts in gaming. So a 9800x won't beat a 7800x3d in gaming. A 9950x won't beat a 7950x3d and so on.

You still have a killer gaming cpu, that also has better productivity performance. Their working on a new 3D cache that clicks higher, and possibly a dual vcache 9950X3D.
Because it’s good enough for gaming while being a monster at productivity. Having slightly higher fps doesn’t matter to certain people than shaving some time off of a blender render
With each generation I'm finding it harder and harder to justify PC upgrades. AAA games tend to suck these days and older / indie titles run just fine on my current system. I'm literally considering upgrading only my GPU just for Blender, and wait with the CPU upgrade until there's a new game actually worth buying.
😂😂😂 amd isn't nerfing anything. They literally have to go to the max to try and compete with intel and even then it usually involves having to cut prices in order to sell.
I am waiting for ryzen 10,000 I am tired of the amdip. Infinity fabric problem and lower memory speeds. Next cpu generation is looking like the one to go with. 16 core, no hyper threading all P cores. around 6 ghz on the next intel node would be cool. same for amd, a 16 core with high ghx near 6ghz no hyper-threading and temps you can run on a big air cooler.

The 7950X is rarely ever reasonably faster than the 7700X beyond margin of error in gaming. While you can game on the 16 core, it's not really to be considered a gaming CPU. The 9950X stands little chance at being good enough to justify its price vs the 7800X3D if gaming is the sole desire. Most likely they tie, and you still only consider 1 "for gaming". AMD wanted to release the 9700X as a 65W part, which definitely would make the 9950X look that much better. The 9700X will probably be close enough that it being like 20%+ faster than the X3D at everything else should take precedent. There are other elements to the computing experience that are still taking place outside of game play.
