THE BEST REESE BASS TUTORIAL EVER FOR THE END!
Thanks man! Happy to help🧐
10/10
Exactly what I needed.
Thank you for being so clear and explaining why things happen.
Thank you for your appreciation of my approach to education! Really trying to help producers to understand the sound designing process, not just to make them duplicate the sound.
@@PhenomSoundOfficial I think it is important to learn how to fish, and not just be given the fish! Thank you!!!
Exactly! Especially when you're fishing a bass, if you know what I mean😉
This is a hidden gem forsure
Thanks man, happy to hear that!😍
that third reese eeeeeeesh Nasty :D
Fantastic… that drop was sick
Thanks bro, happy that you like it🤘💜
loved the tutorial, I've been trying to figure out the 3rd one for ages! The second one sounds great too, I've never seen someone use the combs filter for a Reese bass but it's great! Love your content!
DUDE! THANK YOU FOR THAT 3RD REESE. YOURE A GOD SEND!
Happy you found what you've been looking for, buddy!💜

I like the instrumental you made. Superb tutorial. Love it
Thanks friend! Glad you like the demo🙌
Sick video! Thanks man!
Great tutorial! I been trying to get the 3rd reese for ages. Kept trying using LFOs on fm or filter cutoff with different waveforms for mod/carrier, but never could get it like that. Probably my favorite reese i hear in tracks. Thanks so much for sharing the process - and please keep uploading more sound design related content :D
Thanks man, happy to help! It's my favorite reese bass ever, perfectly fits to any genre and any mood of the track🔥
Dude great job 😮💨
Making a fat Reese bass is way easier that it seems! In this video we're going to make 3 different types🔥🔥🔥 Hope you enjoy it!

@@PhenomSoundOfficial super awesome video, def gonna be useful for nailing my first reese bass. 🙏❤️🔥💯
Amazing Tutorial Man, thank you so much for making it. 💪🔥
Happy to assist!🙌
This is absolutely nuts. Wow. 🔥🔥🔥💪💪
Thanks man! Happy you like it!😊
Do you have a compressor or limiter running further up in the plugin chain on that instance of Serum? I am trying to reproduce the phasing effects in your third reece (@ 7:13) and having a hard time getting something sounding similar, unless I add a compressor to the FX slot and crank up the gain. The sound I get instead is still pretty smooth without the amplitude variation that yours has
same here, I also can't manage to reproduce the sound at this point neither, because there are some effects behind serum.
@PhenomSoundOfficial, can you tell which effects you used?
@@lukaskahler9691 It's my case for the three, even with the same numbers everywhere, there is a lack of something in my sounds
@@Phoenik_PV exactly
Following, I'm having the same issue
Fire bro!
6:55 When I change the width to zero for both of them, my sound doesn't become shaky like yours does. I followed all of your steps though. Any reason why?
Edit - for anyone wondering, check 8:01. you need a compressor (It's free BTW)
Thank you I had the same problem
He is among us... The messiah... The chosen one! Rejoice in his name, for he's blessed us with the way, of the REESE!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great vid also the song is fire
Just found your channel, great content, the thumbnails are 🔥
Much love man, thanks a lot!💜
Daamn! Please make full track from that intro drop
Do you have any post-processing going on by default? Im using live 11 and my 3rd reese sounds very different from yours, even from just the first detuning. When I turn down the width my phasing issues just get worse, I don't get the clean reese warble. I don't even know what effects would make yours sound different from mine, it's really weird.
Edit: NVM, bass sounds fine with the OTT. Might be nice to make it more clear in the future if you're designing the sound straight into the FX chain :)
YES SAME PROBLEM
song is so fire
PERFECT!!!!!!!!
big help thanks man
Happy to help, always welcome buddy!❤️
The best tutorial ever 🗣
Thank you!🙌
That was delicious
Thank you😋
I've always struggled with making reese basses, now I won't. Good video thanks :)
Awesome, that's exactly the purpose of this video! Always welcome😉
this was great
Glad you enjoy this tutorial, thanks!
actually crazy
Thank you man!
Thank you for another great tutorial. Wobble wobble
No, thank you, sir, for taking time write this lovely comment! I really appreciate that!🤜🤛
I was gonna ask about that post processing
nice reese basses
Shubbed!!!❤
Thanks, much love!❤️
I see you are using version 1.2 of Serum, I am using version 1.3. It seems something has changed in between as mine sounds nothing like yours, I triple checked the settings you used.
Have you used the same post processing that I'm showing at 8:02?🤔
Hey I had the same issue with reese no.3 and didnt get a similar sound until i did the post-processing. Was confused too, because i think the post-processing was on while the patch was being made.
I'm now trying to figure out what occured and why it made such a big difference:
1. OTT reshaped the spectrum, by turning off the downwards compression completely so nothing above threshold is reduced, then using gain knobs to hugely boost lows and turn down the highs.
2. Then this gives the eq more to work with, bc i think eq determines which frequencies are involved with the beating/phase cancellation (e.g. if u cut too much lowend the beating reduces drastically leaving u with just high end fizzle; if u slightly boost lowend ~75-100Hz it changes character but accentuates the beating). And since the fundamental + lower frequencies are responsible for the main beating rate, leave/boost the lows and clean up the highend to taste.
Probably why when u hear the 3rd heavy reese used in tracks, like at the end of a phrase (8/16bars), they often cut out the layered sub if they are using one, and retain the reese's own subfrequencies for the beating.
3. Then the limiter accentuates the dips even more, by (i'm guessing) chopping off above the threshold to focus the sound towards a narrower dynamic range where frequencies are more similar in amplitude so the beating can occur most cleanly??
Not sure if im understanding everything correctly, but its really interesting that u needed all three on and in that order for this particular style of reese. If i disabled any of the three things, it would go back to a mess.
Anyways I'm rambling lol have fun making sounds!
@@basho5493 I have the same issue here. in the tutorial it seems so easy but my sound just doesn't get there. at all. I'm on 1.3 as well
once you're going over to global on bass 3, your sound starts with some kind of punch. mine just doesn't have that at all. and yeah, in general it sounds entirely different. do you have any idea? @PhenomSoundOfficial
How is the punchy attack made on the dnb reese?
looks like automation top screen is a sidechain, what parametre is controlled there please?
Thanks :)
Can you do a tutorial on this vocal intro?
Can anybody explain how in every tutorial video, every single one of sounds well... sounds completely different? Like, a lot more bassy
Any tutorials for beginners on fl studio?
For some reason mine doesnt sound anything like what you're showing me. Super wierd. The third one specifically.
remind me of inspected label, tnx for share
Glad to help!
ohh, thats amazing. btw, can i use your drop section in my videos on Instagram etc?))))
I copied the tutorial but my bass doesn't have the same "attacking" sound at the beginning when you first press a note. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks
Hi. It's me again. It's about that question from the previous video. Would you mind to give 2 more vox lyrics samples of modern hip-hop so I can make a nice remix?
Thank you once again
my thoughts at first were like can i just have the patch no work, but i guess that would make me super lazy lol...
Awesome video PHENOM! Thanks for that💯 Got a question, why aren't you using the SUB option? Is there a specific reason for that? Thanks!
Thanks man, glad you like the sound! No, you can definitely use the sub OSC if this works for you. I decided to not use it because it can slightly destroy the wobbling of the reese interrupting the phase cancellation of two main OSCs.
@@PhenomSoundOfficial Thank you!
Great video! I liked all of the sounds you showed, but especially the third, it just sounds so good. I tried following along using Vital, but I couldn't really manage to get that same focus and wobble-quality as you showed using Serum. Do you have any tips for that?
Thanks for the feedback, Willy! Glad you like the tutorial!
Sure, in Vital you can go to the Advanced tab and reduce the Stereo unison knob down to zero, instead of reducing the Spread knob. This should bring this wobbly effect, without actually making the bass dead mono.
@@PhenomSoundOfficial It's been a while now, just got back to trying it. Again, 3rd reese is a super cool sound, but I can't seem to get it right with Vital, I never get them phasing in that LFO'y way like it just happens when you show it. More pointers would be greatly appreciate:))
yeah reese basses are way too fun to use and play with
Absolutely🤘
do you have a video of your sidechain process ?
There's nothing to show honestly. I'm just routing all of my instruments that I want to sidechain to one insert and automating the volume of this insert to match the kick and snare.
Thankuuu
You're welcome friend!😉
Well I'm not very fond of dubstep but, this sample you have shown us this fantastic. Awesome tutorial video for my remix on FL. 😁
why did that intro demo sounded like a release 💀
Going to consider finishing that one, thanks mate!🙌

What genre would this be considered?
I have no idea😅
@@PhenomSoundOfficial fair enough, tune is fire tho🔥

6:43 what?
0:40 what are you doing with your hands? Are you like some kind of wizard or something brah?
Bro trust me and follow my instructions, go to 6:00 and take the speed 1,75, and it make its perfect
Sounds nothing like what I hear on many Hip Hop beats
Donk way cooler than Reese.
