In this video I'm going to show you how to make professional reese bass basslines. The Reese bass is one of the most iconic bassline sounds in electronic music. It is a defining sound in many styles of Drum & Bass but is also widely used in UK Garage, progressive house, melodic house, melodic techno, organic house, deep house, afro house and any electronic music track really. I'm using Ableton Live, but all of these techniques and principles are applicable to Logic, Cubase, Reason, FL Studio, Studio One, Bitwig and all other popular DAW's.

Amazing content again! best in the RUclips. Dilby, I have one question, why not use glue compression instead limiter? Because the do can do the same effect right?

Another great tutorial. Thanks Dilby. Question: where did you learn sound design? I mean, obviously things get better with practice, but did you do any courses? My ability is limited and I need to get better.

A lot of just picking things up along the way. But I bought Syntorial at one point. It's a hands on synth course. I didn't get that far through as it got quite hard and thus quite time consuming, but it gave me a solid foundation. Hoten recommended it to me. He did the whole thing and says he can hear almost any sound and know how to make it now

I’ve just picked up a microfreak, my first hardware synth. It’s great reverse engineering the presets to get an understanding of how certain sounds are made.

I've seen syntorial. This is a nice reason to get it done. Thanks!

@@defectiveresistor microfreaks look so fun! I would love one of those and a minilogue at some point.
