Andy Roberts is the obly complete fastbowler from all angels .Very deep knowledge on every cricketing moves.great salute to sir Andy Roberts.....Wish him happy life.
Great video thanks. I am always dissapointed that Andy Roberts does not get the recognition he deserves. He was particulalry in the mid to late 70's the heart of the Windies attack in my opinion. He was a great competitor as well always thinking of how to bring about the downfall of the batsmen.
Partially agree. Ask the great batsmen that faced him -Chappell, Gavaskar etc and the will tell you he was the hardest to deal with among himself, Holding, Garner and later, Marshall.
In 1974,Andy Roberts was as fast as any quick bowler there has ever been, and that includes the over hyped Jeff Thomson. But too much county cricket for Hampshire soon slowed him down so that he developed the tactic, shared with Michael Holding,of being conservative with his pace.
wow, u Indian guys always come on here and write this stuff. on what type of pitches did he score those runs? on dead pitches that had no life--he should have helped Indi win a test series against these bowlers which he couldn't
After the departure of Hall and co WI didn't have genuine Fast bowlers though Holder and Co filled the gap for a short period. Roberts was the first missile followed by Holding, Marshall, Garner, Croft, Daniel, Sylvester Clarke, Ambrose, Walsh, Bishop and so on. Roberts swung the ball both ways, concealed bouncer and maintained a nagging line and length at that pace. Remarkable and complete bowler.
Roberts was one of the most dangerous bowlers ever in that he had a bumper and then a faster bumper, one of which he broke Hookes' jaw with. Hookes was never the same.
to be honest the bowlers looked extremely young and ferocious as compared to their counterparts,,, the opposition looked like in a post retirement stage and way past their prime... And now add to it the xtreme pace of the bowler with these batsmen without helmet guards that too under old school ICC rules,,, it's just no match,,, these bowlers should have played in today's generation of cricket,,, back in those days there could have been so many on field tragic deaths but what we see is a young batting talent like Phil Hughes with so much protection got a fatal bouncer from a medium pace bowler not in 70s 80s but rather in 2014,,,
Two teams that really benefitted from natural fast bowling talents were the Windies and the Aussies back in the 70s, and this pace bowling continued right up to the early 1990s (Ambrose, Ian Bishop, Winston Benjamin and Walsh, etc). The four greats of Windies were never again replicated by any other cricketing side, not even Pakistan. Later, after 1985, with the inclusion of Wasim Akram, Pakistan joined the exclusive club of fast-bowling led cricketing nations where speedsters won matches for their side. This trend of finding raw pace talent continued with the inclusion of Waqar and later Shoaib Akhtar and others. The other notables of that period were the English, who had Ian Botham and late Bob Willis, Newzealand had Hadlee as the rising star and India was led by the all-rounder Kapil Dev.
Imran Khan was prior to Wasim Akram and purely as a Test bowler was both superior in quality and consistently quicker than Akram. Prior to Botham and Willis and more menacing was John Snow. Genuinely quick, with great lifting balls Snow used to scythe through batting line-ups when the mood suited him😂 I applaud your knowledge of cricket, you seem to be a well-read person with respect for hostory. An aberration on RUclips nowadays.

Andy Roberts had a slower and faster bouncer along with Dennis Lillie the best bowlers of the century
Father of West Indies fast bowling, which instilled deep terror in opp teams during the 70s & 80s
Always making the batsmen play, a slow bouncer followed by a rocket, a legend for windes.
Andy Roberts was excellent fast bowler. Clive Lloyd has developed his team very nicely.
एंडी रोबर्ट की गेंदबाजी। क्या कहूं। शानदार, बेमिसाल, सुभानल्लाह, खुशामदीद, आफरीन भाइयो ये सभी शब्द छोटे हैं।

Andy Roberts is one of the all time greats. The leader of the pack for the famous WI fast bowling attack.
Gavaskar scored 13 test centuries against these bowlers...
Which matches in which ALL the four great bowlers played
THAT TOO WITHOUT TOO MUCH PROTECTION LIKE HELMET , CHEST GUARD ETC.
