This really reminds me of a past relationship. Yes I was the girl. He gave me his soul. The ship, in my case, sailed after he took his life a couple years later. Sometimes you don’t know how much a person means to you until the ship sails.
The Lover is a Franco-British film directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, released in 1992. It is the film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Marguerite Duras, published in 1984. At 70, Marguerite Duras recounts her adolescence in Indochina and her “hidden periods”. The author evokes the difficult relationship with her mother, the love she has for her little brother, her physical attraction for a friend at boarding school, and in particular her relationship with a Chinese man twelve years older than her.

I love him with every single drops of myself he is everything I needed in my life : gorgeous, sensitive, excellent lover,caring,loving...everyrhing I never had dating Caucasians or Latinos or others...Asian men needs more attention amd consideration not only they are gorgeous but they have no shame in showing their feelings, sensitivity and appreciation. Really this man I married is the love of my life ♡
And I married him I was only 26 and him 29 now I am 30 and him 33 still in love as the first day ♡ we are just the perfect 2 and never got hurt with him ♡

what i l.ike about this movie they both fell in love, in spite of her age he wanted to married but is family disagree
Their families disapproved? He should have taken her and went north, to Xinjiang or Inner Mongolia, which was the Wild West at that time. He could have made a name for himself in the Chinese mining corporations that were opening up the land during that time.
He knows very well that he is nothing without his family's fortune. And that is a virtue when it comes to reality.
Okay, where's the hot Asians! come out!

He would have made a way out for her, had she said that she loved him too, but she was far stronger than he. And she was white, so she probably felt a distaste anyways because of the racism in the culture
