- New album 'Jarak Qaribak' out now: worldcircuit.ln...
Celebrated singer, musician and producer Dudu Tassa teams up with award-winning composer and guitarist Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead, The Smile) for new album ‘Jarak Qaribak’, bringing together vocalists and musicians from throughout the Middle East for a very special album of cross-border collaborations. ‘Taq ou-Dub’ features Palestinian singer Nour Freteikh.
Tassa and Greenwood share their comments on the collaboration: “The first song we recorded for this project was Taq ou-Dub. It’s an old Lebanese song, now performed by Nour Freteikh and in fact it was the starting point for the entire album, connecting Ramallah, Tel Aviv, Beirut and Oxford. Nour, such an incredible singer, first recorded her vocal track remotely but eventually the three of us got together in person to rehearse and perform - and connect properly. We feel very lucky - and very proud - to have made a song, and a friendship, with such a remarkable musician as Nour.”

Peace and harmony in the Middle East. ♥
Same guitar technique as in Thin Thing. It's like Johnny's got back his love for guitar with The Smile!
its also present in present tense from a moon shaped pool, see what I did there?
I would say Jonny developed this composition technique around 2014 when he came up with “Loop” (a strange and beautiful piece written for electric guitar and orchestra). I would also dare to say Jonny’s technique was inspired whether by Penderecki o Steve Reich. At that time, he was heavily into classical music and even performed Steve Reich’s masterpiece “Electric Counterpoint”.
@ yes, also think of Reich every time he plays like this
He's also using a drum machine...
@You can hear the Penderecki influence in the last single of The Smile before the big fuzz arrival 👍🏻
my guy jonny greenwood's just doing side quest at this point
From the river to the sea, only peace will set us free 🇵🇸 🇮🇱
This is perfect in every way. The bass part is so unique. Amazing song.

I fucking LOVE these kind of artists. Playing fine music, spreading inspiration and dignity, sharing their love for music and building bridges where politicians and most people stopped doing so. They won't change anything, but their bridges will last and that's a big treasure in a world going nuts. Love ya, keep going ❤ People who are criticizing the Barby Club Gig ond May 26th, 2024 just don't understand. Art is about bringing people together, not about dividing them. It's only Rock'n Roll, but you must like it!
I just love Nour’s voice and delivery.
thank you for these words , i'm mezmerized by her voice
I love this. it's not The Basement, it's The Hamam!
The bass is awesome ! And that weird arpeggio Jonny plays on the guitar is cool af
This version is 100times better than the studio version
This is sooo cool! Can't wait to hear whole album!
Love dudu.

Johnny Greenwood - bravo: "“Others choose to believe this kind of project is unjustifiable and are urging the silence of this - or any - artistic effort made by Israeli Jews. But I can’t join that call: The silencing of Israeli film makers/musicians/dancers when their work tours abroad - especially when it’s at the urging of their fellow western filmmakers/musicians/artists - feels unprogressive to me, not least because these people that are invariably the most progressive members of any society.”
I hear you! Much respect for these artists. However, please explain to me how ethnonationalism and things like Jewish only roads and check-points are progressive values?
@@ehsanakbari3185 They're not. He's saying that artists are typically amongst the most progressive members of any society. Silencing artists is bad even if their government acts unethically.
@@ehsanakbari3185I agree that there is a lot that needs to be done in that land and think any time you have Israelis and Palestinians and Arabs getting together to do something positive is a step in the right direction.
@@ehsanakbari3185you don’t seem to mind the nationalism of countless other countries that are all Arab or all polish or whatever else. Somehow only the Jewish state triggers you
Israeli Jews are some of the most right wing people on the planet not speaking for all but I mean the very presence of Israel and the fact that people chose to leave their homes in Europe to colonize isn’t very progressive if you ask me 😂
Bueno bueno

yoo the girl has nice voice also JOHHNY
does somebody know which pedal jonny uses to make the 1:17 sound?
It's definitely delay, but I don't have the knowledge to explain the settings he's using
He’s been known to use Boss D200 for delay.
I ❤ it!
Loko quedo bellaco...
I'd like the thank the antisemites for introducing me to this amazing Mizrahi music collab. 🎶 ❤🇮🇱
Если бы вы не знали, что там есть Гринвуд, вы бы сказали, что это типичный арабский ресторан. Но там же Гринвуд! Это всё меняет 😆
lol you can both be pretentious and like good music, still better than being a bitter snob. And both bass, guitar and synths make it different whether you get it or not
❤
Tremendooooooo! Saludos desde Argentina!
Did anyone manage to find the song's lyrics anywhere?
awek min
Does somebody know which are the two synths in Jonny's table?
The tiny one is a drum machine Roland Aira T8.
The other one is a Moog DFAM
amazing, it sounds so fresh with the percussion
@@greenwood3596I recently bought a DFAM and seeing Jonny play one live is giving has put a big smile on my face 😊
@@greenwood3596any idea what the dfam adds to the Roland?
The music is beautiful. What's this song about? I'm curious

🔥COOL⚡DUB🔥
Does anybody know what bass Dudu is playing? Looks and sounds amazing.
It's a discontinued Hofner model, similar to the "president"
@@oofskye6019do you name of the model? So curious!
@@shaheenlavierouse it's a 1960's Hofner 500/3 bass with the pickguard removed.
Anyone please translate the song. Not via machine transcription and whatever. Just someone who understands this, tell us what it means.
Buenísima
Artist are usually contradictory. That doesn't excuse them from nothing. Each one must carry and assume its own contradictions. I hope Thom and Jonny will.
🇵🇸
I love the sound, and crossovers. I am not familiar with the region/music here, imho the digital beat doesn't fit in, it is oddly accurate. And it seems to force the players to play along it, instead of playing with each other. PS: And I do understand that it is what Johnny brought in...
I love this video, but that's a good point. But when the ensemble kicks in, it all works like magic - they play with the timing with and against the drum machine, which is fabulous.
Kind of the album concept's. dudu is an israeli singer who gathered different arab singers to make that album. a mashup of the middle east.
jonny çık allasen oralardan ya.
Are there more videos like this from the album?

does anyone know what language is this?
