  • Rick & I had been chatting on text a few weeks before this tragic time. He was in Spain, I was in the UK. We had arranged for me & my wife Lyn to travel to Hamburg at the begining of the year to meet up. Rick was recording his solo album there. I suddenly got Pneumonia and I was rushed into hospital. I was there for about 8 days, I was very, very ill. On Christmass Eve, I was released from hospital. We were driving home and I was shocked to hear on the radio that Rick had died in Spain. Then my phone rang, it was Sky News in the UK. They asked of they could send a driver to pick me up, they wanted me to come in a discuss Rick. They said that they had been speaking to many people that day, but, none of them really actually knew Rick. I thought about it and then agreed to go into their studio.
So, this video is of one very breathless photographer, trying to recover from Pneumonia, chatting about the wonderful, amazingingly funny & lovely, Rick Parfitt. I have to say, that I think about Rick such a lot and miss him. He & the rest of the band, were such a big part of my life. Especially when I first toured with them after me photographing their video Rocking All Over The World. RIP Rick x

I had the privilege of meeting Ricky twice and yes he really was a lovely man. No airs or graces or "rock 'n roll" snobbery, just a down to earth legend of a guy. RIP Rick - its not the same anymore!

i remember him turning up at chichester railway train station in 1987 sending his son off to boarding school in a roll royce in full leather gear and calming his son down , telling him not to worry etc , he gave me the impression that he was a lovely chap that cared for the people close in his life :)

"The big moment for Quo was live aid?" Obviously out of touch mate. Quo have been huge for years before live aid.

After Rick passed, the choices made by Rossi & "Quo" angered me so much that I took the decision to never see what they're insisting on passing off as Quo, again.
To this day, I know not of any on stage tribute made to our Rick.
    Unforgivable.
    Hero.

I saw him pull up in his Rolls Royce, jump out and head into a paper shop at Purley Cross in about 1987 or 88. I didn't want to bother him though, despite being a huge fan. A few months later the same Roller stopped to let me cross the road outside my house, but I wasn't sure who was driving it at the time.

I shall never, ever forget one of the happiest days of my life - the 1985 Live Aid concert. I was home on field leave whilst working in Indonesia and then this great concert opening with Status Quo - Rockin' All Over the World. And of course Rick . . . great memories . . . I know you will still be at peace in Heaven, Rick!🙏🙏🙏!!
