That is such a great question! Firstly with oil pulling: there is no current evidence that suggests oil pulling can prevent decay, detoxify the body, strengthen teeth, treat cancer or reduce headaches despite the claims made online! It has been suggested that oil can act as a lubricant on the teeth so that bacteria and food particles find it harder to stick onto the teeth, but again there is insufficient evidence to suggest it :( Crest whitening strips: In the UK these are banned as the peroxide content is very high! they contain up to 14% Hydrogen peroxide in them which is above the recommended concentration here in the UK - The maximum legal strength useable by a registered dentist in the UK is 6%. There has been new evidence that suggests: 6% hydrogen peroxide is the concentration that allows for whiter teeth more safely As well as this, there is evidence that says - 16% carbamide peroxide and 10% carbamide peroxide are equally as effective in whitening teeth and yet the lower concentration would give less sensitivity! (the higher the concentration, the quicker the whitening effects are visible, but you'll experience more sensitivity) You would end up with the same amount of whitening with both 16% and 10% carbamide peroxide, but the 10% one will take a little longer to show - it's more gradual I hope i didn't waffle too much! Thanks again for your question! xxx
