  • I was finding that my usual planner setup (Leuchtturm1917 A5 in 120gsm) wasn't working for me because it got too heavy for lugging around to office and back home, so I decided to find a smaller and lighter planner. If you're a planner nerd yourself, what hasn't worked for you in 2023?

I have purchased so many different leather notebook covers for the pocket and the last one that came was the travelers one…however I saw the Potter one last year and really wanted that one…it looked perfect and there were all kinds of sizes and the pocket size, mini was the one I wanted…after trying all the others, I finally pull the plug on the Plotter Mini 5 and I am excited to get it in my hands. I carry a notebook every day for jotting down random thoughts, to do lists, quotes and stuff like that. I love that color you chose

It looks awesome! I definitely want to try Plotter now. And the concept of compromise you talked about is very interesting, I think in a world full of chaos, it's good to pick one hobby-type thing to be passionate about and just dive into it, like planners or traveler's notebooks! And the concept of "second brain" I never heard of, so interesting! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I think it's similar to a Filofax in North America. I'm so irrationally passionate about these planners, but they do bring me so much joy.

Absolutely love your setup. Purchased my first plotter a few weeks ago and have been watching videos for inspiration while setting it up still. I have been a bound book only planner for years and love setting up my own spreads but I can’t decide on a size. A5 is too large as an EDC for me and I LOVE the standard size but doesn’t lay flat or fit in my crossbody bags at all.. weeks size is too narrow for me.. so.. I’ve decided on Plotter Bible size because I write small anyway and with a mini for my brain dump/notes to plug back into my Bible size as needed. Love that the ring size is so small that it doesn’t get in the way of my writing and I also now don’t have to rewrite collections repeatedly.. thank you for sharing yours!!! so far this is been the perfect in between. Love you have your size figured out! Can’t wait to see more of your monthly setups in your plotter!

Omigosh yay, I'm so glad you got to enjoy this Plotter! I wish I could share an update on this setup but I've honestly been sticking to the same setup since :) Maybe I'll do an annual setup video just to keep it "current" and share my annual thoughts ^^

In 2023 finally a bujo in a Standard TN grid notebook started to work for me😅😅😅 Because I stopped setting it up too much.

Hello! That Plotter looks fantastinc! I'm a ring-system planner for many, many years now. Throughout life I have had lots of different types of planners - as much as available here where I live - but have always been in love with the idea of the filofax. In 2012 I finally got my first filofax in personal size (after using a book bind day-per-page agenda) and it was a bit of a struggle to fit into it, but after a while I made it. The first binder lasted me one year before the clasp broke, so I replaced it with a new one that lasted me two years before the faux leather started to peel. That's when I moved into an A5 leather binder that lasted me for many years.
In there I used filofax week-on-two-page inserts, or made my own inserts and then used the binder as a bullet journal, with the added benefit of being able to put my collections in separate divisions. Then went back to printed inserts because I wanted much more ease for future planning, and also wanted to see the days in which I had nothing to do, and so on. So, basically I learned that I work better with a weekly spread, and printed inserts I don't have to draw up each time. I also learned that even though multiple calendars are quite charming, I only use one.
For 2023 I decided to move back to the Personal size (bible size in Plotter) because my A5 was terribly heavy and now that we are going out more, if Ihad to carry my laptop and my planner, my bag became way too heavy and was giving me a backache. It's a process, but I'm enyoing being able to use bags I haven't been able to use before due to the size of my planner, and I'm more conscious about what I put in my planner, how chunky I allow it to become, what I really need and when a note needs to be archived.

Plotters are amazing! I love that you can just add and remove inserts. Mine is definitely kept as thin as possible (I just keep around 4 weeks' worth of spreads and everything else goes way). I love reading about your planner choices. Hope you're enjoying your Personal-sized planner!
