THE RULES ARE CONSISTENT! Jesus christ, this is such an uninformed discussion. I don't get how football fans don't actually bother to look at the facts of these kind of issues and just spout nonsense like it's the truth.
City haven't faced a points deduction as it's an entirely different issue to the Forest and Everton issue. City's alleged transgression is financial doping - Everton and Forest's breaches were NOT doping related.
In its simplest form, City have "allegedly" used their own Middle Eastern companies to sponsor City at hugely inflated sums in order to make it look as though City are earning huge money in sponsorships. The premier league are building a case to argue that these sponsorships were not made at market value. They can't just give them a points deduction when City's accounts are healthy - the league are pursuing this legally, trials of this magnitude take months to prepare. It will be for a Court to determine if City have over inflated these sponsorship deals.
It's entirely different to Everton and Forest. It has nothing to do with the size of the clubs or that "City can afford top lawyers". Every club can afford the best legal Counsel in the land, which is why Everton and Forest have used the very best KCs in the country.
What football fans CONTINUE to ignore, is that every club has to publish its accounts. This is the reason Everton and Forest got deductions. Their accounts clearly show the losses that go beyond the allowable losses. It's in black and white, the losses are there on the balance sheet. So by mereley publishing their accounts they've already breached the rules.
It's the equivalent of having two defendants in murder trials. City are denying any involvement in the crime, and therefore the CPS must build a lengthy case and take City to trial. Everton on the other hand have been caught on CCTV bludgeoning the victim to death, they immediately pleaded guilty and therefore they were sent straight to sentencing as there was no requirement for trial.
It's baffling how stupid people can be, thinking there's some kind of corruption targeting the smaller clubs.
No one is arguing anything you just said the issue was that this was proposed after Everton and forest received points deductions and they basically want to sack of point deductions for fine’s instead which in the grand scheme of things when a club is owned by one of the richest countries in the world it’s pointless and only protects them from point reductions. They did go on a tangent on it all because Brian wants to become the city rivals in the transfer market but the original point they made was the rule change would have been corrupt in only helping big teams with unlimited money like city, Newcastle and Chelsea to run away

They spend the first quarter of this video moaning that Everton and Forest only got deductions because they're smaller clubs. The fat lad Chelsea fan at one point even says "the rules need to be consistent" as he's got it into his stupid mind that City are playing under separate rules to Everton and Forest. As I've said, the rules ARE consistent. There's no conspiracy favouring City. They've committed an entirely different offence to Everton and Forest, which will take a long time to establish.

Sadly you're clearly one of those football fans I've referred to in my first comment that simply doesn't care about facts. I've clearly explained the difference between the City and Everton breaches and your conclusion is "nuhh just deny it". Jesus christ. Read the comment again. Everton's losses on their ACCOUNTS were what they were punished for. They couldn't "deny" it, that's not how accountancy works. The evidence was in black and white on their balance sheet. That's why they got the points deduction so quickly. The City charges are entirely different, they aren't being pursued for losses on a balance sheet because they don't have the losses that Everton and forest had.

FFP was created to protect the big clubs, and stop clubs like newcastle from doing what man city did. top clubs stay at the top, everyone else stay below. clubs like united got to spend pretty much however they wanted before ffp

Spurs recently signed Udogie and Van De Ven for only about £40million combined now they are probably worth £60million+ each having only played about 30 games.
It's not that difficult to do, you do need to be a little lucky but it's not impossible or that difficult really.

Ironically Bruno and Isak have probably both more than doubled in value so it's a really stupid comment to make. Especially after they payed for themselves by helping us qualify for the champions league for the first time in 20 years.

Brian doesn’t understand in order to make changes there has to be a starting point/cut off from old procedures. No matter what moment in time this happens there will always be a moment in time where one gets cut off right before and one team snuck away with it right before. FFP is about protecting the top 4 originally, so i think FFP needs to change, it makes it way to hard for any of the other clubs to compete with United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea financially.

As a long term solution after mentioning academy spending. You could do a nfl draft like spending cap - e.g. city finish first they’re academy spend is £0 Liverpool finishes 2nd it’s £10m and so on and so on that way that way it promotes youth setup and development in England (helping out national team hopefully) hinders top clubs from staying top for years and years and that way big clubs can still spend top money buying these talented youngsters when they’re older giving these smaller clubs a lot more to play with
Honestly I love this squad it feel complete again I think when the spurs fan here it’s a complete circle and it compliments itself very well, Geordie has done well to build another good podcast squad because I didn’t think the last one could be replaced
Just to make you guys aware, villa spent 119m in the 1st year of a 3 year cycle, 40m of which can be written off (something to do with the WSL) so although it’s still high and it falls out their budget for year 1 , villa don’t necessarily have to sell and funds can be raised in other ways
The rules aggressively make clubs look at ways to increase revenue.... You've got to have a 1st class conveyor belt Academy.... You've got to invest heavy in your stadium capacity/ experience..... brand, overseas fan creation etc to boost revenue & transfer spend....
Surely, the answer is as simple as a percentage based cap, where the teams at the bottom can (if they're able) spend 20% more... This would allow newly promoted teams to spend big, encourage investment in Championship teams, and allow the closing of the "gap" to City... The further down the table you finish the more you can spend... The higher up the table you finish, the more glory / trophies you get.

I feel like the fairest solution would be to set a blanket spending cap that applies to all teams. If you can afford to spend up to the cap, feel free. If you can’t, you can’t. But it stops teams big and small spending a ridiculous amount of money.
Can't do it in our sport..... You can do it in a controlled market... Like the USA.... But it doesn't work in ours.... If you apply a tough cap.... Saudi, China etc get a HUGE advantage.... But what you could do is apply a High cap.... Then allow all clubs to spend as much as they like to the highest Revenue club..... Any predicted losses would then need to be injected in cash BEFORE they occur....

What I’ve been saying for a number of years. Yes a cap on wages is a start but also to calm down Man City you state a squad of 23 players can’t cost any more than £500m they already have 3-4 players worth £500m then it’ll allow the promoted teams to compete & values for players worth £1-20m

it seems like a good way for the smaller clubs to make some money off the bigger clubs. that's usually how the luxury tax system works in the states. Say city pays 100 million in the tax and that money goes to all the other teams. it would help their bottom line which the smaller clubs need.
My view is that clubs should be allowed to spend what they want, you should reward ambition not punish it. Brighton have pocketed loads of that money for transfers whereas it should have been reinvested properly so they could push forward
End of the day you cant ask for strict regulations when teams are now 10 years plus into unregulated spending. Its like starting a race and some are 5m from the finish line but we all playing the same weather conditions so its "fair". If a club in the future ever does a Leicester and it all clicks for a season the "bigger" clubs then poach the talent and you need to somehow strike it lucky consistently to keep up. Regulations work when we all start at the same starting point thats impossible so amy rules are unfair.

they should have a luxury tax like the nba based on wages where if you pay above an amount you pay double the amount you spent over the limit and it is sent to the other clubs in the league.

Well 5 of the 115 charges are for breaking ffp and 54 of Them are for not providing accurate and up to date financial information. If the financial information that city have provided have not been accurate then they could potentially have broken FFP 59 times combined

The rule would have been in the most basic way of saying it, teams can spend up to an amount with no penalties after that threshold is passed they get a fine on the transfer that goes round the league. The rule is public knowledge just like the sin bin rule was
This whole 115 charges taking longer whilst correct, could easily be condensed because a lot of the charges are for the same thing but in different years. You can then further condense them but taking the first 2-3 year period the allegations are for and decide if City are guilty of any charges during that period. If they are guilty of any of those charges, make that call and instantly everyone knows City are already guilty of some charges, then work on the next 2-3 year period and so on. Then if City know they are already found guilty of a few with more potentially incoming, they won’t be buying any players for a while knowing potentially there are some big charges on the way. Deal with things proactively instead of creating a cloud

I really believe clubs need a limit on players squads at all levels. Man City have top players in lots of other countries and it simply shouldn't be allowed to happen or capped.
As a Chelsea fan the FA need to deal with Man City/Chelsea etc first BEFORE the end of season let alone bringing in this new financial rule a lot of teams will exploit.
Stop going after teams with only a few charges and go after the main culprits and deal with THEM.

The lad at 15 mins going on for like the 4th video about how good Monchi is and what he's done at Villa, he joined way after the summer window, can someone please tell him. Currently Monchi has shipped out some deadwood and bought Rogers from Middlesbrough and a young lad from Serbia in January, he's not transformed our team with his genius signings. If you're going to give credit out hand it to the right people. Lange was a much much bigger part of how this team has been built and now he's at Spurs, with their current team and Ange they could really push on next season now.

Rich clubs buy players from less rich teams and keep the money flowing around the system. You also have to have a system where new owners coming into clubs are able to “invest” in buying better players so you can compete at the level you want to compete at. The current rules put big brakes on this and therefore the current rules are anti-competitive and protect the traditional big teams.

I find it crazy that Arsenal goes under the radar with their spending. Over the last ten years arsenal has the fourth biggest transfer deficit in the world; beaten only by Chelsea, Man U and City. Isak and Guimares were already very well know players when Newcastle bought them. There is a reason each cost over 60 million. Other clubs were in for those players, but Newcastle spent more. I am not saying that they shouldn't have been able to spend, but Brian is being a bit misleading. Guimares in particular had been killing it for Lyon and was on many teams radar.

Could the new rules made by the PL and FA be an effort to counter the European Super League that some of the big clubs on mainland Europe still want. So if the English clubs can keep outspending those traditional big clubs from mainland Europe, all the best players will keep coming to England. And therefore there will be more money in the PL than in other leagues because of the TV-and sponsordeals that are connected to having the best players/teams in a league. It's just an idea about trying to follow the money. 😉

Is , Newcastle this season have been very disappointing, knocked out early in the ucl , no real cup run and likely to miss out on any European football next year
That’s a lot of potential prize money they’ve missed out on , you can can’t expect / want to compete with the top club’s financially if you’re not backing it up on the pitch.

we have not been disapointing, that's absolutely not true as a newcastle fan, maybe in the eyes of neutrals. A bad call away from getting to knockouts of UCL/UEL, a last minute goal away from semi finals in carabao cup, and absoloutley caked in long term injuries. I'd consider it a good season, if we get top 8 that's what i predicted at the start of the season even without the injuries so would be more than happy with it

If I told you at the start of the season you’d finish outside the top 7 and get knocked out of the ucl group stages , you’d be really disappointed by that
Ultimately you’re having to sell players for ffp reasons because you’re not playing/ performing well enough to bring in revenue that justifies spending like a top club.

Realistically there is nothing the premier league can do to punish the big 6 cos the clubs r more important than the league they will just leave and form a super league the big 6 will never be punished cos the prem would end without them
