    One of my resound receivers had gone silent. thanks to you, Dr. Olson, I was able to fix it and avoided going into corona costco. I've always wondered what that pack of 8 black plastic sticks with white tips was for, no instructions about them and you were the only one on internet that explained them. Thanks.again.

    I just got my K10s from Costco and had a Audiologist to do the testing and fitting. I go back this week for my 2 week followup and have a few adjustments I would like him to make. The overall experience was very good. However, your videos, and I saw most of them, are VERY helpful. I learned a lot from each of them. Super impressed!! THANK YOU!

    Thank you Dr. Cliff Olson: Can believe a stranger like you has given me so much help and happiness. I watched you videos when I first lost my hearing. Lately I couldn’t hear and I was afraid my hearing had gotten worse. Got a new audiogram ( thanks Kaiser) and the result unchanged.
    Have Costco checked my hearing aids and it was clotted with wax. I swear I should have watch this video and learn to clean that white tip( sound receiver). I swear I never received a complete instrument. Life is good again because I can hear. You are a good man Dr. Olson, I will remember you forever.

    Wonderful video. Is the wax vent on a custom hearing mold for a cild that uses tubing in the mold itself or is it in the ear hook?

  • @jameswest8280
    @jameswest8280 4 месяца назад

    My wife creates an excessive amount of ear wax, and has profound hearing loss. I can't find an air vent, and there's no rubber dome to remove. Replacing the wax trap was the first thing I tried. The ear molds are not removable, you need a special tool, the receiver looks like it is inside the mold itself. I tried to fix it myself, she ended up needing a new ear mold. The audiologist she went to retired, and closed his office. We went to several audiologists, non of them will even attempt to clean or repair them. We can't afford the ~$4,000 to replace them, they're rechargeable. What's going on? HELP! Evidently, no audiologist knows anything about this type of hearing aid, I find that incredible.

    Hello dr. Cliff!
    If wax is going through the filter and gets to the receiver, the hearing aid will need to go in service.
    Do you think is better to buy one with microMold so that you don't have to pay everytime the hearing aid needs fixing?
    Thank you!

    .. How do you
    disconnect the plug in to the hearing aid so I can replace the new unit?

    I am just curious why you use a tissue instead of a disinfect wipe when cleaning the hearing aid.
    BTW I am enjoying your videos, they are helpful, especially for an upcoming audiologist such as myself!

    • @DrCliffAuD

      Hi Marco. I do use disinfecting wipes on earmolds and domes, but not on the hearing aid processor. Hearing aid processors are painted. Alcohol in disinfecting wipes will remove paint from the processor if done enough times. As a fellow audiologist, I'm glad you like the videos!

    My Costco (Kalamazoo) Hearing Aid Specialist told me to not remove the dome, and don't worry about the wax filter. She also said NEVER use tissue, or paper towels, just use the enclosed cloth or use cheap baby wipes to clean the domes (in place)

    If you do the regular cleaning yourself. What extra steps dose the audiologist do? Or are they just inspecting it closer? Because it's easier for them to see or notice defects on any part of the hearing aid. Being that's there profession.

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  6 лет назад +2

      Sanitize, Sanitize, Sanitize. Get a dehydrator kit like: amzn.to/2GODYd0 that has UV sanitation. Also, you should use alcohol swabs every day to sanitize your earmold/dome.
