This is another job opportunity that the government needs to explore and bring up to international standards. Put a proper ferry on that route and have people trained to provide the proper services. This is not rocket science.

I took this trip last year at about this same month August . I was on my way to Ghana I boarded the same boat but before I arrived the dock in my mind, I thought it was gonna be a ferry boat not knowing it was gonna be this canoe boat . Bro my experience was crazy it was raining and windy and the waves was heavy, I Kept on telling my self if I die here no one would even know my where about because I told no one I was traveling. It was indeed an experience of life and death. I vowed to my self I would never take this trip again or travel by this canoe boat , it’s just dangerous. See you see water it feels like you are sitting on top of water . It’s exciting when you make it to the other side and you are out of that thing but what if you don’t live to tell the story .
This is really deep. Your experience was much more dangerous than mine and from the comments, looks like loads of people also had such crazy experiences. I honestly wish they would do something about it
It was definitely a nerve racking experience. Especially for the length of the ride. Ideally it shouldn’t have taken more than an hour thirty minutes but the constant security stops made it so long.
I did this back in 2021 😂 was fun Lagos to Benin republic , was fun to me because I love water and the stop in the water was just 3 then just for them to check the boat
That's true. It just becomes an issue when there are so many stops and they security agencies try to add more people to the boat and just endangering everyone.
Why I was coming from Benin I saw a boat that stopped working In the middle of the river.. Omo see People dey shout blood of Jesus.. Jejely the both moved to the river bank ..it took some minutes before rescue both could come save them

I heard of a ferry that capsized recently in Benin republic and the entire passengers lost their lives. I can never try this kind of adventure due to “lack of safety “ even when you’re on life jacket, it’s not safe.

Some people just use every opportunity to talk down on their country. Some of you will be out of the country for just 1 year and you won't let us have peace again. It's you who needs to work on your literacy first. You have zero data and just talk anyhow. How many of those boats capsize in a year. Sometimes, zero in 3 years. Remember, what is scary to you, may be fun to others. Your case is like people who always say airplanes are not safe whenever a crash happens. 100k airplanes are flying daily, virtually all of them land safely. A few unfortunate events would happen in a year, and they will be using that to judge without seeing the real data. Can we do better, yes, but you must learn a good approach to pass your message across and respect your motherland.
