This isn’t just fashion advice, this is life advice.
I think part of the reason shoes matter so much is because they indicate what the purpose of the fit is. Like if someone's wearing something formal and they have nice boots it's like "they probably have a business meeting or somehting" but if they have trainers on instead is like "they might be someone's boss but they want to be comfortable instead of trying to impress people cos they've got shit to do" that kind of vibe. And wearing nice boots instead of trainers with a more casual outfit it's like "oh they're not just hanging out they're actually going somewhere"

I think he had a bad example of jackets. Jackets can have the exact same change of vibe. Let's say you're wearing a formal outfit but then you have a bomber jacket. That makes the whole vibe more casual. Same for leather jacket. Or you have a casual fit then you wear a blazer. Makes it a bit more formal. Or you wear a street wear outfit then wear a long top coat. Makes it more dressy and sophisticated.
Eh, the message I get from formal with trainers isn't "I have things to do" it's "I'm kind of a tool"

@@shadrackakinkunmi Go for the Collegium pillar destroyer lows if you’re able to. Similar vibe to dunks but way higher quality. I have a couple of high pairs and they’re some of my favorite shoes.

Been thinking about this exact topic a lot lately. I see a lot of sneaker heads saying “nobody gives a fuck about your shoes in public” but it’s just bc they want to be recognized for hype shoes and they don’t know how to dress them. I hardly ever go somewhere where I am around a lot of people and don’t get a compliment on a piece my outfit (I think I just give off nice guy energy and I’m always smiling). And my shoes are totally the most common compliment. What they don’t realize is a $70 pair of shoes can make just as good an outfit as $250. It’s about how you use em. Gotta be creative and build around it correctly instead of just letting your shoes do all the talking and dressing like an NPC around it

Not gonna lie y'all for years I tried to put together cool fits and delve deeper into niche fashion and never loved the way I looked but then I realized - the best fit is yourself. Like Rick Owens said, "working out is the modern couture" and I had the clothes but not the body, so I started going to the gym and now I don't even wear super crazy shit like you see on the explore pages/tik tok but I get compliments cause I'm lean and built. I wish younger me had known about this before I spent $$$ on clothes and even reps (Cringing). Also helps to not be ugly but realistically there's only so much one can naturally do about that part so don't worry too much.

They make you look taller, slimmer and look amazing with oversized sweaters/tops, I stopped wearing them as much a few years back because they seemed to be associated with reddit male fashion advice and conservatives, seems like they are going back in style which is pretty cool but I personally had enough of boots for at least a bit.
@@brandonalfaro42 I was lucky enough to thrift a pair of doc martens 1460’s. I’d say it’s a great entry level boot. It’s versatile to where I can wear it with casual outfits and more formal ones. For example, I would wear the docs with a sweater and jeans and the look would be more mature than if I were to wear dunks instead. At the same time I can wear the docs with khakis, a turtle neck, and a leather jacket, and have a more dressier/ formal look, without the docs looking out of place. There is a reason why they are as popular as what they are. Hopefully I explained that well and helped you out!
