Hey so the portion of this video involving the Kid Detective has been retroactively claimed which demonitized this video. Currently my wife & I’s housing & work transportation situation is complicated & we are still in the middle of moving so frankly any extra money at all that we can accrue is important & in this instance something I need to prioritize. I have cut out the portion of this video involving The Kid Detective but will be reuploading it as its own video. Unfortunately I don’t have any time to add anything to it as I am in the middle of working on the next video but I have actually been actually really touched by everyone who has since watched The Kid Detective, it feels really good to have been able to share a movie so close to my heart with y’all!
Another honorable mention is Alien, those angular lines, evoking the toothy maw of some cosmic predator, slowly morphing into the title as the camera glides over the umbral mass of some colossal planet. Spectacular
Twister's title card sequence makes it look like you're inside a tornado and the letters are debris. I'm probably biased but that title card is probably my favorite that exists outside of the actual content of the movie.
Subscribing to this channel was such a good descision. I LOVE title cards and since i'm getting into making short films i'd love to play around with them more. I also love watching these kind of videos where people just talk about things they're passionate about especially when it comes to cinema or art in general!
Not mentioning Mr. Robot might be an actual crime since nearly every episode has a different use of the title card. Sometimes is the opening, sometimes the closing, sometimes in in the actual scenery and sometimes it appears with a thunderous orchestral suite. Absolutely my favorite use of the title card, especially the final episode when it opens with the song "Mr Roboto" after having gone 4 full seasons without using it once which is just such a payoff I didn't know I wanted
Man I love Children Of Men so much; that title card hitting after that perfect first minute which tells you everything that you need to know about the movie is just *muah* chefs kiss
I love title cards too, and this was a great video! As for the audio: if you have a comforter or other large, thick blanket available to you, a trick lots of people recommend is to just get under it with the microphone while recording. It's surprisingly good soundproofing!
My favorite Title card has to be from Mandy (2018). It has such a bizarre location in the film but it serves a really cool purpose in the storytelling by acting as a partition of mood. I love it
was not expecting the mention of alan wake ii but im so happy, i absolutely love the game and especially the titlecard (control's are also great too and i believe alan wake ii was a continuation of its style)
A simple one that I still absolutely love at is the very very beginning of what remains of Edith finch. A large part of that could come from the fact that it’s my favorite game of all time (go play it as blind as possible right now), but it’s still really good.
I personally think the “title card” for Tron: Legacy is amazing. Opening the movie with circuitry that morphs into a city scape with a tilt up to the Tron logo will always be my favorite
It might sound simplistic, but one of my favorites is from Godzilla vs Kong (2021). There's a long buildup to it over the opening credits which rehash the last three movies that have been building up to it, then it creates a tournament-style bracket showing Godzilla and Kong as the final fighters, before zooming into the Earth and revealing the title card itself. Loud, bombastic fight music plays as the massive letters fill the screen and it's just exactly what it needed to be. Seeing it in theaters was awesome!
I took a break to watch the Kid Detective and I'm surprised by how much I liked it; great recommendation! The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has a title card I really like, spilling out from the real world into an array of shapes and colors before fading back into reality, mirroring his fantasies throughout the movie.
i also really love the title card for Barry, and how it evolves over time. It's that same style of giant red letters plastered over the screen, but with Charles Bradley's "Change For the World" blaring. One episode from season 2 does the thing where Barry starts to say his own name but is cut off by the title card, which is always funny to me. Even better, as Barry himself becomes more unhinged, the music and comedic timing of the title card just disappears, and the title card goes from being funny to ominous. It's really good.
My favourites are Raising Arizona (the size of the title, the font, the music that punches at the moment of the reveal, and that it comes 12 minutes into the movie!) and Delicatessen - as we pan through all sorts of objects revealing the names of all involved in clever ways - ending with the title reveal as a butcher knife comes down. Amazing.
Everything Everywhere All At Once pieces itself together throughout the movie and used in a unique way, letting you know what Act of the film we're currently experiencing. Very badass
ALSO idk if this counts because it's a youtube series instead of a tv show or a movie. But i really like the Title Cards for the webshow ONEhfj! I can't really describe what i like so much about them but i think they do make an impact, they're usually sudden in the episodes representing to suddenly things can happen in the story of the show itself, and also the theme song made by CheesyHFJ is just really catchy! In general i think looking into ONEhfj in general is worth it! It captures an existencial dread that i've personally not seen in any other Objectshow on the web--
I'm surprised that Ichi the Killer is missing from this list, and I'd hazard that it's absence implies op hasn't actually seen it yet. Definitely the most memorable title reveal *I've* ever seen in my 40+ years of movie-going. EDIT: POSSIBLE VAGUE SPOILERS BELOW, so tbh just watch the film and skip these replies if you haven't seen it yet!
Damn it!!! I completely forgot about that one, idk how it’s the most outrageously disgusting title card ever put to screen, definitely would’ve been in the video if I’d remembered! Great shout
I’m curious what your thoughts are on the title card of Smile 2. I loved how abrupt it was, the slow panning out that reveals the blood trail which becomes a smile, and the extremely eerie sound design made that whole thing probably my favorite intro/title card ever (but tbh the red and black stripes right after were kinda cringe)
Great video! I love title cards too, i think theyre so much fun. For the audio echoes, have you tried recording under a comforter or other large, heavy blanket? It works shockingly well as soundproofing!
Really cool video! I love the unique topic, and you clearly have a lot of passion for it, which came through in the video. I'm amazed to find you're such a small channel, but I've subbed and can't wait to see what comes next! As a small editing audio note btw, I noticed you have a lot of heavy breaths in here and there, which were massively distracting and took me away from listening to what you were actually saying, (your delivery also felt kinda rushed like you were nervous? But that might just be me). Industry best practice is to leave breathing in narration but make sure it's relatively soft, you might want to make sure your mic isn't too close, you're breathing with a good technique, use a pop filter if you don't have one, or cover it with room audio if you need to. Not meant to be a put down, just trying to offer constructive criticism!
@@PancakeOnRUclips editing and recording skills will come with time and practice, passion and flair you have in spades already, so I think you're well ahead of the game mate
Holy shit man, I can't believe it! The Kid Detective has been a very slight but consistent nag in the back of my brain for the past few years since the one and only time I've actually watched it. I'd forgotten the title but remembered the dark sense of humor, like when Adam Brody knocks the absolute shit out of some kid which I think had to do with some pills maybe? I mostly remembered Adam Brody performing the shit out of his role, which blew me away because I hadn't seen much of him since The OC and his small part in The Ring. But, this and Ready or Not are both fantastic movies where he has proven the ease at which he seems able to do this type of roll as a mentally traumatized alcoholic/drug addict who's two steps away from just giving up on life altogether. THANK YOU for making this, fucking great watch and now I can finally go and watch The Kid Detective again! Just one more quick think, I felt like the ending may have also been really leaning in to the potential reality of actually being a kid doing that type of detective work, maybe as a way to juxtapose itself against that old trope in movies where some kid playing detective gets into the kinds of shenanigans and hijinks that was typical for the type of movie during that sub-genre's hayday. In The Kid Detective rather than the usual low-stakes, light-hearted adventures it's a boy investigating some truly heinous shit that goes on to haunt him as a grown, broken man.
@@PancakeOnRUclipsThanks man! And I only needed 5,000 words to get it across lol whew... Thx for humoring my comment, also you're recent vid was great as well!

Im sorry but a video about title cards is (in my opinion) incomplete without the mention of the James Bond franchise. While the cards themselves may not always be that special, its the fact that they are all preceded by a few minutes long opening scene, which is then followed by the opening credits that just make them way too cool to go without mention. Just wanted to let you know I literally paused your video, watched all of The Kid Detective, then came back and finished. Great movie!
i did this with frances ha, that was fantastic

Ha ha I’ll have to try that thanks!
Surprised you didn’t talk about hundreds of beavers! Has one of the funniest title card reveals ive seen in a WHILE.
Amazing production quality and super interesting subject matter. I'm a fan now, this is just great work
Great video, thank you!

Criminal: UK has the best title card EVER imo.
It's just perfect. So creative and lends such a tense atmosphere. Fits unbelievably well thematically.
It doesn't merely break the fourth wall, it pulls the viewer through it!
You are totally underrated, your content is great!
I love title cards so much myself too that in my books, I dedicate a page to the title of the book after the prologue or chapter 1.
