the only problem i have with this mod is that it just spawns way too often (it is in nightmare mode idk anythin about none nightmare) with the cave dweller it doesnt spawn so often it gives u this feeling of safety and then when ur finally starting to feel good he appears to scare the shit out of you the man from the fog spawns so often it isnt as scary anymore. anyhow loved the video im gonna sub
cave dweller also has a nightmare mode where it spawns more frequently, and this nightmare mode is inspired by cave dwellers nightmare mode. nightmare mode is simply to give content creators more encounters.
Gonna have to still say the cave dweller is wayyyy scarier. Simply due to the consideration of encountering it. For this, it just kinda spawns wherever at anytime. This makes it so its pretty easy to get used to it. Combine this with how easy it is to cheese and its just a periodic annoyance. The Cave dweller only spawns in the environment it is best suited for. On top of that, its not guaranteed that it will attack you every time, adding uncertainty to it. The Cave dweller feels like you are up against an intelligent predator that is stalking you, the man from the fog just feels like a loud = scary copycat that can't even handle a body of water.
@@toxity1200 the second part is a downside yeah; but the first part, while true, doesn't matter much. Like I said, it only spawns in its optimal environment, where deep bodies of water are scarce.
I played with this mod in a modpack, and let me tell you a story of my encounter with it - i was sitting by a campfire on a mushroom plains biome, i was waiting for a sapling to grow and for the night to turn to day. I had true darkness on so it was pitch black, and I saw the man's glowing eyes in the distance. I zoomed in, just staring at the thing while it stared back. I literally ran so fast, didn't look back. Immedietely grabbed a boat from a backpack and started rowing as fast as I could. THE THING CAN FREAKING SWIM

the man from the fog really scares me. i discovered him because of pillar chase 2, and i downloaded the mod on my minecraft world and i met him, and it was actually so scary. His whistling scares me.

As cool as it is that people are trying to make scary mobs, getting hit by a mob and losing some health isn't scary when it announces it is coming. It is like if Creepers made noises. Do something rather then deal damage. For an example mod I'm going to make something up, the mob will be called the Deer Man and look similar to a Wendigo. It tries to sneak up and get within 10 blocks of you. If it does it will attack you giving you a stacking debuff called "Decay" which reduces your max health by 5%, Milk won't cure it but waiting the duration will cure it or the Antler Broth made from using the Antler they drop if you kill them in a crafting table with a bowl will cure it. It only makes noise if it attacks you within 10 blocks and you didn't spot it. The only way to stop them is to spot them before they get within 15 blocks as they will vanish. If between 10-15 they will charge you and apply Cripple and Blindness then leave. Once you hit Decay 10 (50% health reduction) there is a chance that it won't vanish after hitting you if it sneaks into the 10 block range. The mob itself does the minimum possible damage a hit relying on the debuff for killing you. At Decay 15 the mob won't vanish at all. Next is make it so shields get set on cool down and if you shield its attack you get Crippled. Lowering you speed, damage, and mining speed for 10 seconds. This gives you the option to block them as a last resort or if they entered within 15 blocks. The spawning conditions for this mob rely on the weather. With a new weather condition. Fog. When it rains, snows, or thunderstorms there is also Fog. Sometimes there is just Fog. It behaves like you turned down your render distance but it gives a chance for this mob to spawn. If the mob does spawn your only indication is the Fog won't leave. Make it so rain is more common as part of this mod. There is a rare chance, lets say 1%, where when it attacks you they will leave but the Fog till stay. If you die to it there will be an block placed near where you died, called the "Corrupted Totem" which causes the weather to switch to Fog if the player gets within 50 blocks of it. If you die and a totem exists the new one will spawn on it making the Fog effect be within 100 blocks. If you turn the Antler into powder (Like Sugarcane to Sugar) you can use the powder to turn it into a Totem you can mine and carry. The Totem will become corrupted if you or any entity eats Rotten Flesh within 50 blocks of it. If a Corrupted Totem reaches 5 tall the player gets a debuff called "Cursed" and the world is stuck in Fog. For each one after 5 the player gets 1 more stack of Cursed. The Deer Man also is replaced with an creepier version which looks more twisted and does Curse instead of Decay. It also will now charge you if you spot it within 20 blocks at speeds you can't escape. At 10 tall things get much worse as now all mobs that die in the Fog have a chance to spawn a regular variant of the Deer Man which is weak, can drop an Antler but does actual health damage with the catch of ignoring armor. If there is no Corrupted Totem and they despawn there will be a 100% chance of them placing a Corrupted Totem. This creates a tug of war with the creature, it is threatening and if you let things get out of control it becomes deadly.
some useful information Just In Case anyone is trying to survive this thing in regular MC: 1: on certain versions (at least the ones ive tested) he one shots you no matter what 2: the lighting bolt does NOT peirce through armor and the fire doesnt stick unless you stay in it 3: he can be trapped in boats 4: he cannot break through doors (from what i've tested) and he also cant break fence gates 5: HE CAN CLIMB WALLS 6: he swims faster than a boat 7: he has enough HP to survive 8 swings from a maxed netherite sword. 8: to get rid of him you just walk up to him while not looking at him. poof. 9: (edited in) he is not faster than you, but dont try to outrun him.

From the fog starts to get boring after a while, considering herobrine doesnt really do much other than stalk. I dont like things being too much in your face either, I think the herobrine mod with the herobrine totem did a good job

The Cave Dweller doesn't even do what it was engineered to do when it came to to the 1 by 1 gaps. Why can't it be the best of both where both the model and the code all fit together without any actual flaws that could change it from horror to just a comedy show where the monster is the jester who is the joke. something that messes with mods like cave dweller is how easy it is to break their pathfinding, since mc is a sandbox game maybe they could disable third person during a chase or give them the ability to actually break the blocks

@@ziephel-6780 Yeah, both this one and the cave dweller suffers from this. You can just pillar up 3 blocks and all the danger is completely gone.
One thing that man from the fog monster's advantage it has over Cave Dweller, is that it's animations still work in shaders and optifine.

Yes, in this video mod version 0.0.1 is used. The cureent version is 0.2.0a, trust me it got much better and scarier
