Happy I could help you! And thank you for the message! do not hesitate if you run into other problems. It can be useful with an extra pair of eyes when you run into issues!
Just googled this and found your video, watching it now! hoping I can fix my WAN Interface dropping and coming back every couple minutes. Using a Intel Nuc with two Saberent USB A to 2.5gb nics will update when I finish the video.
So mine is setup very similar to yours, would you happen to know why I might be getting disconnects? I am using VirtIO as the Model, I tried Intel E1000 had the same issue. Not sure if just leaving MTU unchanged is fine.
If it is configured differently, that might be it. Or you could try to move the wan to another USB port just to see if there is something to do with that.
this one is superb, the other one about "vlan on pfsense" as well but I am still struggling with complete setup of: 1- proxmox with 3 NICs 2- opnsense on proxmos with 2 NICs from proxmox a- one is WAN (PPPoE to ISP) b- one is LAN 3- then, on opnsense set few VLANs and split the network properly: a- servers in i.e. VLAN10 - using on all servers (including proxmox) 192.168.10.0 b- home users in VLAN100 - using wireless AP with network 192.168.100.0 c- IoT in VLAN200 - using wireless AP with network 192.168.200.0 It tried many times, usually it finishes with ... restore from backup because always something is not ok Any chance for consolidated video from A to Z? ;-) thx
Hello. Thank you for the message, and sorry for the late reply. I keep forgetting the held for review section (RUclips is not a fan of IP adresses) I have thought about doing something like that, and I have a few switches and even an access point that I can use for it. I can not promise that it will be something I will be able to get to quickly. I do have a discord where I can try to help you out if you wish: discord.gg/REmZyw8fBY the ability to share screenshots helps alot.
So if I have a router from my isp and I want to run opnsense as my router/firewall in proxmox do I turn my isp router into a dummy router basically and have all dhcp and stuff run on opnsense? Also how will it get my Wi-Fi signal would I need a wireless ap or my isp router will still give me Wi-Fi is where I’m lost ap.
Hello! The way I run it at home is to just set the ISP router into bridge mode which makes it a dumb box that just passes through the signal and gives my virtual router the WAN IP. With that setup you will need an access point or a wifi router you can set into AP mode. You could in theory setup a OPNsense firewall and then have the DHCP server run there, but you would lose the function of the firewall and generate a lot of headaches for yourself. Best of luck to you!
You haven't been here for a long time, are you all right? Please tell me, in your opinion, what is the difference between pn and pf, at least for you? I have a mini computer that would be nice to use for this software, but it has only one connector for the wire. I understand that you can use vlan in this case, have you not worked with such a structure?
Hello. I've been mostly ok, thanks for asking! How about you? I was planning to actually use it as my router to het more knowledge, but I have not had much time lately. I am hoping to get more into making videos again because I have a few things I wish to do, like gns3 and setting up and hosting a website. When it comes to networking with one network interface, it can absolutely be done where the opn or pf sense is your DHCP router which can take a load of your home router for that task. I just don't know of a way to completely change your home router if you don't have 2 network interfaces.
That is correct. I did it to test synthesizing my voice. Fun to try, but not something I wanted to keep doing. What I used is mentioned in the video description.
After a lot of googling and searching I finally found this video and also your discord. Very helpful video and even more helpful person. Thank you!

AI voice must be a fan of Star Wars as it pronounces WAN like Obi wan! 🚀
A mix between AI and being trained on my non native English voice. Fun to have tried, but ultimately, more hastle than it was worth to me.

@@Divgitally thank you bro. I am getting there slowly. But will appreciate your next video ;)
