Howd you get the diver hazmat skin i wanted that one instead of the one they sold even though on the image it shows that one as well...so i didn't understand.
When you craft or reskin one the type will be randomly selected from a choice of three. Keep trying!@@likeablock9
@@SHADOWFRAXoh okay thanks alot!
@@SHADOWFRAXwhat were you doing at 2:20 💀 (yes i watch sponsored parts)
You voice sounds deeper this video. Why?
My problem with the brutalist skin is that you'll never see it outside of:
- The base core
- Battlefield servers
It should be made a stone skin or be sold at a big discount relative to other skins.
Plenty of people use armor for key parts of the outside of their build -- especially foundations/bottom layer, the walls outside of 3rd/4th floor open cores, etc. It's a basement skin because it will mostly be used for core and gives it a concrete foundation look.
@@AngryAlfonse No one does that 💀
@@BuzzyBri I guess you spend all of your time on PVE servers with 3 active players, huh
@@AngryAlfonse nah I play official. you're descripting vital esc servers 💀
@@BuzzyBri probly u live all time in a wooden 2x1
The Frontier skin is perfect, honestly its how wood should be. They did a great job on it.
It's actually pretty much a polished version of the old textures
@@noobyboi6324the old textures looked better than this
I like it. Reminds me of Legacy.
@@bucklinspringthis wood literally looks nothing like legacy wood you absolute braindead child lol
Frontier looks good but I mean the whole meaning of normal wood is to look like logs because that’s all you could get.
With so many DLCS they are becoming unjustifiable at the 10$ price point. They need to retroactively make older DLCs cheaper now and/or make future dlcs cheaper. DLCs are nice when theres a few of them at 10 a pop, but when theres going to be more and more AND MORE AND MORE of them, keeping them at 10$ is exploitative.
I'm with this. Why is it over $10 per building skin when the voice pack DLC provides 15x more content? This feels like a cash grab. It's the first time I feel like Facepunch has been unreasonable with its pricing, but it's still pretty goofy pricing.
Not only, but also: bundles. A 'hazmat' bundle and a 'building' bundle seem to make sense given the current offerings. Some sort of subscription service would even be acceptable, if DLC is going to continue at the current pace - with the items only available as long as the subscription is held.
welcome to modern gaming industries
I'd be down for some sales on these DLCs. I understand that there are points where a lot of folks already own the game and so they have to come up with ways of continuing to make money, but the DLCs do cost a lot for what they are... just charge like $2.99 for something like this and $10-15 on large DLC packs.
i want them to be included in the over 100 dollar version of the game. I payed a LOT and i just want the skins and racks
I just don't think any skins for building are worth the $15 price tag.
Makes me think how many people more would have bought it if it was even half the price.
@@jefmoesy Right, the skins are kind of trash. The only part that looks okay on any of them is the outside, but you spend most of your time inside.
Maybe this is just me but Large Furnace skins would be a nice thing to see. I wouldn't sink money into the gingerbread skin unless it had more flair, considering it will be a limited time purchase. Brutalist should definitely reincorporate some heavy armored metal instead of the stone look, considering it takes hqm to make it and not concrete. I don't build bases out of wood so frontier skin seems like something I'll avoid.
I don't think gingerbread will be paid DLC - to be confirmed - just seasonal. Large furnace skins yes!
i think some bare rebar sticking out here and there would be cool because you could incorporate some rust stains from the metal. just like the adobe has some stuff sticking out near the roof line they could do that style just with rebar
100% they gonna make you pay for it boss, haha. They're makin you pay for an additional method of storing items, to draw, they'll make you pay to control rotating items next I recken@@SHADOWFRAX
@@auklin7079 Its confirmed that the gingerbread skin is a limited time free building skin only avalible for use during the christmas update
Excellent, I stand corrected@@chungo_
I dislike the amount of DLCs being released in such quick succession to each other. Can you imagine how clunky these building skins will feel to navigate to and build with if you have access to so many for a material? The radial menu can only go so far.
Like others I also dislike the pricing of these DLCs. You expect me to pay 10$+ for a single reskin..? Not even regular skins in the item store are priced at even half of that price.
I could justify maybe paying 10$ if it was a bundle of two or more skins, but absolutely not for a single skin.
It's for these reasons that I haven't and refuse to buy building skin DLCs for Rust. I'll keep buying regular skins as I've always done when they look good, but there's a strong limit. Why would I pay 10$+ for a single material reskin? That's like a third of the price of a new full game these days.
So basically they've found a way to make people pay a monthly $10 subscription for Rust lol. Next month, Straw!
Well you don't HAVE to.. But straw sounds good as long as it's a top tier skin.. reverse psychology and all that.
@@SHADOWFRAXyes let's keep rewarding companies taking money for a thing that would have been free not even 5 years ago.
They won't be blowing my house down!@@SHADOWFRAX
its a pointless cosmetic lmfao@@0000777agent00000777
@@0000777agent00000777lol it's a skin
How many DLCs for building skins are we gonna get? this gives EA vibes
Tbh, I feel like cookie skin is a little overkill, don't you think? I feel it breaks the immersion into the realistic feel of the survival. after all, if you are building your shack out of cookies, you arent much of a survivor. more like a pervert
I guess all the frog furnaces didn’t do that already?
I love the idea of having 10+ options to change the look for buildings but I can't bring my self to spend $200 for them because they are not tradeable, I understand and would pay the price if you could sell them later as other wise it seems like way too overpriced
It is way 2 overpriced... Should cost 5 euro max.. Not 15..
15 euros???? Per
Wtf that's insane
They aren't getting enough money from cheaters re buying the game so they have to find other ways to jew the average playerbase
There's a fairly high time investment in making these skins on the dev side, added with the low expected sales they probably don't have very high profit margins as is, making them cheaper would only add to that, though it would make me want to buy them a little bit more which is something that could very much matter in a marketing view of things.
At the end of the day you're not forced to buy them as they offer no advantage so the price is kind of comparable to workshop skins, people who are interested in this stuff don't mind spending 15$ on a skin if they particularly like it.
@@frogboots2115 What is that logic? If things are cheaper more people buy it.. You just said the opposite.
The Rust devs got a tase of DLC money and now they're turning into EA... Lovely stuff.. Rust was great while it lasted...
Literally. Just don’t buy it
@@thatbigmacinthewindow5762 yea , that’s why need for speed doesn’t do a lot of sales anymore, that’s the problem 🤦♂️
Still waiting on BED skins.
Im kinda overloaded with the waves of dlc they have been pumping out the last couple years, the waves are getting larger. I love your channel
Thanks!
wood skin needs recolor option, similar colors to the buildings at bandit camp.
They should add recolors for all building skins. It doesn't need all the shipping container choices, but 4-5 would be great, adobe and brick would both look nice in other shades.
I haven't bought any besides shipping container because they're too common, your base looks exactly the same as everyone else that owns it. With shipping container I can choose a color and stand out from my shipping container neighbors.
The building skins should’ve all came together in a bundle for like $20. Facepunch just trying to milk us dryyy 🥛
I'm actually happy that Facepunch is charging a decent amount for these. Yes, it does seem weird in the context of the older DLCs, but given that these building skins are all totally cosmetic, it doesn't actually change my experience playing without them. If it means that development of Rust continues to be economically sustainable for Facepunch, I'm all for it.
Bugs like npcs glitching into the ground and being able to shoot you are stil in the game after years of updates but a new dlc is cool.
I have hope, future skins will be for free or with lower price. In euro or dollars maybe it is cheap, but for rest of us, it's too much.
Nah, 12 bucks for a wall skins is insane
I think most people eventually end up with metal walls im not sure why there isnt more appealing metal skins.
container is just that good honestly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i wish they made a HQM embrassuire to go with the HQM doors and Brutalist skin. I want to build a true bunker looking base without having to make all kinds of meta peaks/gaps and stuff.
I love building butttttttt the price on every Single build skin is a bit much ❤. Love the wood look and the cemented one needs more and should be a Stonee skin not a top it definitely needs more detail.
These look sick, one thing I wish they would do is make more dlc like they used to. I think a sports dlc is due, something with like a pool table, footballs, volley balls, basketballs, etc. Now you have to pay $10 for a weapon rack when it used to be that price for several items.
They need to stop gouging us for these and group all building skins into a dlc
They need to drop these to $5 if they're going to bring out 20 a year
If i could get all skins in a pack for 10-15 euro's i'll consider it but at these prices i'll just build standard on official, and on some modded servers all skins are free anyway.
I love all the upcoming building skins and very likely to buy them, but there's one missing that I've been hoping for...bamboo and tiki skins for that south pacific feel!
This would be amazing for pool side base designs!
That would be so nice ... 🏝️
I don't have a problem with dlc in general (as long as it's not pay to win of course), but these skins in particular don't look good to me.
I agree. The brutalist skin looks like stone skin, and it looks like it's made with breeze blocks inside. It looks like it should take 5 minutes with a hammer to beat the wall down.
Isn't it tho
I encourage you to take a sledgehammer to a wall made of thick concrete slabs and see if you can knock it down in 5 minutes.
@@Mika-ph6ku for real. You can smash down a thin stone or brick wall easily. But solid concrete? It's gonna take ya a lot longer than 5 minutes for that one
Yeah, that's my point. It don't look like thick concrete from the inside. It looks like the same cheap breeze block construction I have at my office. It took about 5 minutes for the builder to knock out a door sized hole.@@Mika-ph6ku
the amount of dlc is fine they make money we get cool stuff but the value is really off you can get their full dlc with electrical stuff / music instruments/ beach items these are all new items with a bunch of work put it yet you have building skins for around the same price i think the building skins just arent a good value i also think the gingerbread skin doesnt fit the game
Some dlcs seem like they should have been free features, others are overpriced and p2w, but there a few ok ones.
Gingerbread skin: already exists in game, just needs to be moved over to the skinning system.
Also Gingerbread skin: $15, probably.
Do we "definately need a wood skin" though really? I would rather see a HQM option as wood structures typically last all of 15 minuites when you start your wipe if used at all.
Frontier looks very good. I think its likely we will see gingerbread this december. It only makes sense.
In terms of brutalist, it just looks way too smiliar to stone. I think some more focus should be put on making it look better on the inside considering thats where you will see it most often.
After paying $13 for the adobe skin, I am gunshy about buying any other wall skins, especially at that price. If they made a $20 DLC pack with all wall skins I might consider it.
It's a shame, because lots of choices of wall skins being accessible to EVERY PLAYER would make the map a lot more interesting to look at, but most servers I'm on only a handful of players seem to buy/use them.
Brutalist they need to change tbh or put for stone. Giner is nice and i will buy it, wood i dont use more than 1h per wipe xd. I think they need to make china/japan style skin with Cherry Blossom tree.
Regarding DLC; first I don't like how they keep these in their store when they really should be listed on steam as dlc. I am happy they are adding skins to the basic tools, hazmat suit, and building system but I am not happy with the price point they have for most of these. Comparing what you get from each DLC with the prices, they all seem rather overpriced to me. And one other thing to note is that you have to survive to even use most of these items.
I don't play rust very much and I keep wanting to every time I watch your weekly videos. I want to play with the new stuff but I don't know people and don't want to drop $108.92 before tax (not including the Soft, Ice King Pack, Coconut, Pattern Boomer, or Industrial Lights(25.95 added up)). All of their Rust Store permeant items added up cost $134.87 before tax, plus another $42.96 from the actual steam listed DLC adding up to a total of $177.83 BEFORE TAX. Sorry just wow, that's a lot of DLC for a $40 game in my opinion.
I like how the wood textures are coming and I think they should have started with wood before making any of the other building textures.
I don't give two tin snots about the Rust DLC. So long as it's not directly or exploitatively P2W (adding more boxes to a room due to thinner hit boxes for wall textures isn't p2w imo) and isn't required, it's good in the hood afaik. I may even buy a skin one of these days. I appreciate that they've taken an ARMA-style approach with DLC where the content exists in the game and is viewable by everyone and/or limited use (like picking up skinned weapons, rocks, etc...). In ARMA they lock down DLC vehicles so that you can't drive them, but you can ride in them and stuff.
Think for Gingerbread you should be able to lick it for health - like Candycane - and as you lick it takes damage but gives health/food....
you nailed the criticism on the head, thank you!
half of these building skins they're releasing do look awesome, but should replace/update the default ones with these paid ones. would make the base game look more updated
the cash grab DLCs the past year or so have been very annoying! the brick skin was cool, the rest sucks. Way too expensive, and that comes from someone that owns most of them.
They don't add value to the game, outside of the original one with the frozen dlc.
Ginger bread wall is the goofiest thing ever, I wouldn't feel the same playing rust seeing ginger bread houses everywhere. Seems like a money grab from Rust, hopefully they won't make it a thing..
Wood skins and then stop IMO. "special" skins would degrade the game in my opinion
Adding worthless detail to the brutalist set will completely ruin it. It could be named “plain and simple” and people would complain that its plain and simple. It being a clean look is whats good about it. I won’t be buying it if they add some weird contrasting rebar.
I just want the arrow model to match the bow skin currently equipped.
they should rather change the DLC items to default items, there is absolutely NO reason that the weapon racks shouldnt be available for everyone
They need styles and not just skin upgrades, cmon the frontier could have different modules than the brutalist, they are all flat and dull. Is this just me?
Nice concrete skin, but what about making base upgrades into 4 lvls instead of 3? The concrete skin looks like a lvl 3, but armored steel is then definelly a lvl 4.
The skins are nice but if they going to ask money per skin that be a serious money grab, feels like a greedy nut is bursting, they should make packs instead, per tier. That be already more then enough to pay for. This payed content bs is starting to get a bit ridiculous and not only in rust.
all i want is for them to take a patch to work on QOL and optimizations instead of adding new buggy things like parachutes and homing missiles as well as an attack heli that cost 1 million scrap and has the accuracy of an eoka slugs
Imagine watching Shadowfrax using anything less than 3x speed.
i like the amount of DLC coming out but they should be cheaper. Or at least make some discounted bundles.
I've been playing rust again, and the team should focus on netcode and not so much on skins. That is my opinion.
the HQM skin would be better for a stone skin, the wooden skin looks very simple i don't like it at all, the ginger skin looks good.
Yea to fix brutalist all it needs is some exposed rebar. That would instantly make it far better in identification. Other details are a plus.
thats like the legacy woodddd, gingerbread is cool, last skin is cool but not good enough for hqm and looks to much like stone they should darken the color
Haven't played in a while. Is there a way to disable these skins so you only see the default building textures?
Wood = W Gingerbread = L
Loving the wood skin already tbh. I do enjoy all the DLC these days, its just harder to afford being Australian.
Dude, ikr? Its like 30$ for 1 wall skin and its crazy...
I really hope they dont go too far with building skins, I dont think every material meeds ten different skins 😭
Candy is Silly,
Rust is survival, radioactive, rusty, not Fortnite
ginger bread skin! O.o
haha! this game is turning into a acid trip x'D
Love the humor.... keep up the good work Shadowfrax
Would love to see Legacy style metal base skins. One of my fondest memories of Legacy was making a basic 2x2 with an upstairs with all metal
lets get some Halloween building skins!
First
Yah, these skins are way over priced. It's clearly super easy for them to make and they're just milking their base with low effort content.
They've had them done since December lol
What really is needed is an anticheat update, the number of cheaters is getting ridiculous
This.....
rust became a milking company
I would like to see a horizontal door, garage door for in the roof so you can land your hellichopper propperly in your base, or create new types of trap bases
I genuinely wonder who dislikes videos
I was hoping the rope on the ramps for the gingerbread were licorice
Good point
They should be releasing building skins in bulk. Releasing them one at a time means the whole squad ends up buying every skin
It's a blatant cash grab. They'll keep putting them out til people stop buying them, and then bundle
Wood skin is great. I imagine they would release a wood door skin like they did the metal door. Nice to know im not the only would who was not a fan of the brutalist skin
just the wood window that would be the problem them
but its only role-players that use wood windows cause of how weak they are
Chowder: WOOD I?
I’ll definitely be purchasing the frontier skin!
DLCs are exciting but definitely overwhelming! I love having different building skins and deployables, but I've definitely already spent too much money on this game, and it's inevitable that I continue to do so in the future with more DLC releases.
Im having to stop my self buying every skin they add for buildings
I roleplay hard. I cant go without buying these items. I've basically had to stop playing now. this game feels like a Chinese mmo with how much money it wants from me.
Still no fix for hackers....
I find all of the skins a bit meeh!
Calling a skin DLC is pushing it.
All fun and good looking skins but...but when will they finally get rid of cheaters? Ill play rust again once that issue is taken care of!
Not much any game devs can do against cheaters unfortunately, if cheaters are such an issue for you, then you should quit gaming altogether permanently.
can u read?
I did stop playing!@@gyrthez246
brutalist skin is fine. none of these tweens have seen a proper military installment. THE REAL PROBLEM IS HOW EXPENSIVE THESE SKINS ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, aWhenm You Say Helo Survivors And Friend, I Know 100% That Im A Survivor. Don`t Know What I Will Eat Today , LOL! Poor As DIRT !
Actually No, Dirt Is Much Richer Then Me
I really like the frontier wood. But in rust i normally build stone right away so i wont ever really see it. But i do love how the frontier skin looks
Stop skinnin everything
Yeahhhh, no, sorry devs but I’m out. Been an avid Rust player since 2017 but the constant micro (not so micro) transactions in constant waves is really starting to rack me off. $15 for a single building skin is insane. To be honest, since you made the weapon racks a buyable DLC I was done. Rust is turning into EA and I’m not feeling it.
Wouldn't buy the wood skin but think it looks great. Don't have enough wood in a base to make it worth it, personally.
Think that HQM skin looks rubbish considering it's... concrete.. That should be a Stone skin.
ooooh you used a Rhett and Link reference. I love you more. Also, I probably won't get the wood skin purely because I never build bases in wood. Sometimes if I'm in a rush, I will but it quickly becomes stone within a few minutes because it's so easy to raid wood.
I've got a thousand hours in RUST and if I can choose what DLC I want to buy, while supporting Facepunch, I'm game.
I just wish there weren't so MANY dlc, like, bundle some of this crud together. All the building skins? 30 dollar bundle. It would also be easy enough to keep it so you can only buy one if you want one. I'm just tired of there being a new dlc that adds like two skins every couple months.
I like the building material skins but also the prices are just WAYYYY too high. It's the price of a whole new game to get these skins.... Facepunch is getting greedy
I want to see some book shelves to place on walls or doorways. Also skins for the water bottle to create a wine bottle or beer. Also maybe coffee beans that you can add to mixing table to make coffee
The gingerbread skin is in my opinion too much. Ifw with the brutalist, brick and other skins, theyre cool af. But this is just too.. much
I feel that homing missile launcher BP should be reduced to 125 scrap, not 500. It has such limited use that spending 500 scrap to learn it seems like a waste.
At first it was simple skins.
Then it was cosmetic DLCs.
Then it was advantage sold as DLC (Artic suit).
Then it was content sold as DLC (Weapon rack).
Now it's DLC every monthly update.
Next it's update sold as a DLC.
I am SO excited for gingerbread skin!!! Brutalist skin BETTER get reworked. It's TRASH and makes NO sense for HQM.
I expected a skin for high quality metal to look more.... METAL. Brutalist? Come on FP you can do better, ESPECIALLY since you have taken to charging for these skins as a DLC rather than as an updated Rust feature. As far as the frontier skin... I hate it. The "log cabin" look of wood already looks like "the frontier". Not going to pay yet again for ugly skins as I did with the sheet metal.. ugliest thing I've ever seen!
@SHADOWFRAX you should make an updated rust lore like an extra long version talking about everything that has been added also the rust start date is coming up (5/10/24) pretty please
fantastic news!
Legacy’s skin was darker. This looks like a cartoon. Actually, don’t even try, Facepunch. Just bring back some Legacy server. I’ll buy it
