  • It was time to cut the front hedge, and it had grown enough to take cuttings for propagation.
In this video I kept some of the cuttings in water until I had a pot ready to put them in. I used a mix of mostly perlite and vermiculite as well as some molar clay and composted bark thrown in.
The cuttings were prepped by taking off the excess lower leaves, trimming the shoot just under a node, dipping them in rooting hormone and then planting them in the pot of soil mix.
The pot then went into my new greenhouse, positioned just under a mister to ensure the leaves get enough moisture.
This was the first time I had taken cuttings for my new greenhouse. More will come soon.
I didn't talk during the video - I felt that all you needed to do was to watch and that you didn't need me to say what I was doing. I did add text though just to make it a bit easier to follow along.
Now I'm looking forward to growing some good old privit hedge bonsai - (Ligustrum ovalifolium)

Yes, it's a tree I've wanted for so long but have not done anything about it until now! Bullet proof I think.
